You and those thermometers! The thing that bugs me about losing them is not that you forgot to retrieve it when done but the fact that you know if a customer comes in for an A/C problem, the first thing they would do us check to see if it was fixed. This means they had to look at the vent and feel for cold air so they could not have missed a thermometer sticking out the vent. This would have very likely been done before driving off so they see the thermometer but do not give it back, essentially stealing from the mechanic. At some point the customer would have to notice it but failed to bring it back. Says a lot about the morals of most people these days…
Good job, honest mechanics are incredibly hard to find. Literally every mechanic I see with an A/C problem tries to get you to replace the entire system if you need anything more than a top off and it’s always very expensive. I tend to go to a shop if I am too lazy or the tool is too expensive. At best it is one thing fixed and something else broken. I am sadly at a point where I refuse to go to a shop.
I came from a family of great mechanics. I have seen enough of your work to say your a great mechanic. I helped my Dad work on a lot of cars. I consider him to be the best . He worked as he said of himself a shade tree mechanic. But he worked on it all from T models on up till the computers started. But your 👍
This situation occurred to me as well but on a 98 Honda civic. Low pressure makes same as high pressure. The TXV is bad. Otherwise, clean evaporator core and replace TXV. Evac and recharge. She blow cold.
I have a 2013 ford escape that won't charge. We tried ac pro and nothing. Took it to a mechanic and they empty and refill it but only lasted a day. Any ideas
I actually enjoyed the Hyundai Accent. I drove one as my monthly rental car in Casablanca Morocco for a year when I worked there. The one I had was a brown coke color and was diesel it was great honestly couldn’t knock the car at all drove great was comfortable for the long drives to meetings and was all around great excellent on gas fit everywhere all spots and didn’t make me look like a idiot pulling up to meetings or restaurants or hotels lol all in all great car for what it is when I would get back home to NYC and drive my Mercedes I would catch myself looking for the Aux cord lol
Great video! I've gotten those little wisps of refrigerant when removing caps on cars with brand new valves. And on cars that haven't leaked any refrigerant. I've been told that the valves are actually secondary and caps are primary. Hard to believe that's true but I've read that in various AC articles over the years. The caps aren't optional, regardless.
What would the actual pressure be on the high side and the low side for a car at AC would it be almost 200 psi on the high side and no higher than 40 psi with that be right
Rev the motor and check pressure again

Could it be those needle valves slowly leaked the coolant over time and that is why it became intermittent cool and warm?

There is no clutch… it’s an internaly regulated compressor.

Cars need a recharge top up every 4-6 years. A lil refrigerant leaks out via the compressor shaft which lunricates it.

I got a set of ac gauges, but I stopped using them because it always seems I end up with leaking Schrader valves when I unhook them.🤔

When high is low and low is high the compressor is not compressing. Its on its way out.

Usually when I see a problem with AC I check first the relay. Those tend to fail quite often
