" Have the day you deserve !" Ray
Drive till it says 800085
All in all it's just a-nother click in wall…
My only complaint with this job is that lower hose is obviously swole on the ends, likely to fail with a blowout, those hoses should have been replaced.
Gotta love it when people jump guns to.
Good thing people don’t know how easy this job is.
Well, it’s a 4.7… they overheat… it’s what they do…
Hi Ray Your my new favourite car repair channel while ETG is on hiatus. A little squirt of silicon spray will stop you having to fight sliding those hoses and clamps around. Great video 👍
My upper radiator hose leaked even after replacing it. Leaking stopped after I replaced spring loaded clamp with a worm drive clamp.
After struggling with the hose clamp, I think you should apologize to the Technician that installed the worm gear clamp. Or not. LOL
Does anyone else feel like they just was at the dentist ?
Try using a 160° – 165° thermostat in it .. Dodge hemi engines run hot .. A common problem .. Water pump failure is also a problem since the impellers are made of plastic
I have a 2009 dodge ram 1500, and I been through 2 water pumps, evidently it is the weak point on that engine.
does it matter which 3M bristle disc you use on aluminum? I see you used green, according to online, I should use white
My 1965 Delta 88 had waterpump with 7 bolts. I was 16.
3 diff head sizes, 3/8" , 1/2" , 9/16"
Ahh….the good old days.
Wished my truck bay looked as nice up here in the rust belt
OK I guess we have a different opinion on hose clamps. I do understand the idea on the spring clamp. Thing is I have had hoses pop off. I guess I'll double check to see if any other reason might be present. I have never cracked a part with worm clamps. Not everything is fool proof. Tightening anything with hulk force is just asking for trouble. There is so much plastics and aluminum today. Maybe it's the arthritis I got now. I turn the nut driver till it hurts and then shout "click", thanks Ray. Lol It's my own personal torque wrench style.
I had a 96 Grand Cherokee with the 5.2 and replaced the water pump, took some time, those belt tensioners are getting expensive, i had to replace mine and i think it was about 70-80 years ago, i think the 5.2 is a superior engine and more basic VS the 4.7 though the 4.7 is lighter and a bit more powerful
Today's episode is brought to you by: "LOUD NOISES!" 🤣
Also, if you made a shirt that said "…and that would be bad.", i would totally buy it.
I would have Ray working on my vehicle any day of the year he takes pride in his work good job keep it up
a couple of quarts or half a gallon…. they are both the same four pints
About 10 years ago had a 95 ram with the 5.9 in it , could watch the gas hand move when you mashed it but that beast would pull anything and never felt any different. Went to pass a car late for work day and right as I went by the car it blew a freeze plug out. Wish I still had that thing even with crazy gas prices (thanks to Brandon)
How long do those surface cleaning disks for Aluminum last in a commercial shop?
With those spring clamps it pays to line up the opening mechanis as if everything was back on in case they need to be accessible without having to remove bits.
i learned along time ago, when a water pump goes bad and engine overheats, you may as well change the thermostat same time. i could be wrong but i think its due to the heat ruining the wax in the thermostat which doesnt open anymore afterwards.
I have 5.7 Ram 2500 04 and it dont call for green rad fluid it calls for Hoat fluid like a light color fluid that turns red/pink as it is heated and used. I dont know what the 4.7 calls for but I think mopar went to that even my 04 Jeep Wrangler uses the same fluid. So might want to ref that in future. best thing for mopar hose clamps is vice grips pro tip from someone that has worked on cars from the 60s.
If I'm not mistaken that 4.7 is a Mercedes engine or design not sure which of the 2
Chrysler geniuses mold the coolant expansion tank and washer fluid reservoir together; what could possibly go wrong? Cost cutting!
Did my neighbor"s water pump outside in the cold next older version truck. What a pain to take apart. 35 degrees with the wind blowing. Thermostat on top. Had to tear half the front of the motor apart to get to the water pump. Fan was rusted on the shaft.
Btw when my parents owened their bussiness my moms ck book hated seeing the snap on and mac tools truck lmao
I need a mechanic like Ray in Bakersfield CA to work on my 08 Silverado
The harbor freight 7 mil gloves suddenly got thinner imo.
Water pumps on dodge trucks are lucky to last 25k in my experience.
Nice! But yup I remove those horrible hose clamps and put the worm drive ones on my car every time 🤣
I hope you remembered to put the washer fluid home back on
A drop of oil makes the clamps slide easier over the rubber pipes.
That idler pulley bearing looks to be at the end of its lifespan.
I was going to say a bunch of nice things but it's already said by Ray Segler and those who replied to his comment. So, that being said THANKS RAY FOR ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO!! 😁
That looks like the water pump on my Dakota 3.7. It replaces exactly the same way. Dodge, you have to love them.
I see that your engine is turning the fan clockwise but the fan is fitted the wrong way around so it is pushing hot air through the radiator instead of sucking cold air, I enjoy your program tremendously and stand in awe of the way you solve electronic problems
The reason that idler pulley didn’t feel right is because it was put on backwards, enjoy the videos tho! “Finish comment CLICK”
Dodge is probably particular because the 318s had some water pump installation problems. We were told to put goo on the long bolts that threaded into coolant. That was not done at the factory… and many will say they need no goo. But yet, time and time again, we see those 5.2s leaking around the long bolts.
Duuuuuude!!!!! I've NEARLY had my finger tip Got by one is those clamps SO MANY times! It's only ACTUALLY happened once …. That HURT
WHYYY???? WHY U DO DIS????!
Trying to get the pinch clamp off the hose end with the thermostat housing, and it wouldn't come off, "WHYYYY??" LMFAO said the same thing SO MANY times lol
Nice
You need a clutch fan wrench set.
Not expensive
