Oh i caught someone doing something sketchy and unsafe. It's not gonna fly nope nope nope nope look what they did look what they did so here's what'm gonna do i'm gonna put the jack stand in and i'm not gonna tell them and they won't be able to let their car down because i am evil like that one more click no no no no no no we're gonna do this we're definitely gonna do this get in there all right okay now i slowly let this down until. The axle's got the weight there we go now. When my guy comes back to let the jack down the tire won't go down.

Okay now we just hide and wait right here i'm just gonna hide nope he's not back yet nope still not back. Yet what are you guys doing over there. You know what i'm actually going to make a new game out of this i'm i'm not going to talk to him about that i'm just going to continue to observe and put. Jack stands.

Where they need to be and eventually we'll get the ding light bulb moment. He'll figure it out that's going to be better that way i think it's more effective it'll give a lasting emotional impact. I think that's just more effective than telling someone hey you did that and i was unsafe and you're gonna die 50 cent o ring speech blah blah this magic moment we're gonna get him i really do nope not ready. Yet.

Oh yeah do it come on come on oh. He found it found it cool come out the jack's sitting on it yeah. I got you bro yay. Yes.

He's a very bright young man captain jack sparrow over there he wasn't fooled. By my treachery. Wasn't fooled at all that's actually my failure. See i failed to do a better job at my task about to step my game up in the future here.

  1. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Henri Verbruggen says:

You should have lowered the axle just a wee bit so it's to low to fit the wheel, put the stand underneath, remove the jack and hide it.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mort Homer says:

    Left the "what" door open?

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Johan Axelsson says:

you can't trust jacks. They fail all the time. And there have been so many accidents whit them. I have seen one fail in depot on a race track. I't failed so fast. The car went from almost at the jacks top position to floor under second. Luckily no one were under.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars G says:

It was very kind and observant of you to install the Jack stand. Using the hydraulic Jack with those two blocks of wood made it even more dangerous for your colleague. If the floor Jack failed, He would have lost a leg give how he was sitting with his legs under the tire

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars VB says:

He's not a clever man for finding the axle stand, he is not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy for jacking up a car with a wooden block…

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dtw6m says:

Crazy to use a wood block and he put his legs under the wheel 🙈🙈🙈

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Page says:

I would have raised the car enough to slide BOTH jacks under the axle.
Using a stick or a piece of conduit to move the jacks in place rather than getting underneath.
    Safety First……….YA'LL!
    Good show Sir!!!

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jay Wolf Elite Ammunition says:

I had a 22mm wrench I threw at their heads.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Simmons says:

you never put your legs under a jacked up car !! bad habit

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars pepeshopping says:

Nothing safer than setting a jack stand with just one hand.

Consider getting safer hacks with actual locks.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars billybop17 says:

When I was a kid in the 70s I was working under a car with just a hydraulic jack for support when it gave way. Luckily it made a loud crack before it came down so I got out of there just before it fell. Now I only will go under a car supported by jack stands

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars gwcracker says:

    Workplace grabass?

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Garry Quiggins says:

I helped a buddy put a steering box in an Monte Carlo SS. Left front in air no jack stand, both of us under car. Stopped for a greasy handed sandwich, while we ate 10 feet away car crashed to concrete. We both turned white. Yes it was the orting in a new floor jack. We've never gone without jack stands since. We were stupid but lucky.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars webguy943 says:

bro had his legs spread to the sides of the wheel. imagine if the car fell, that would be a close call for the boys between the legs. xD

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 6th Sense Of Humor says:

I would've gone the extra step and put 8 jack stands underneath.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ToxicPineapple says:

Next time use a Harbor Freight jack stand. 🤔

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tracy McDougal says:

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lorenzo Tant says:

Been turning wrenches for 30 plus years watch you cause i just love working on cars, your attitude and way of thought is all reasonable and shows me a good tech. We are all guilty at one time or another with no stand., but fun aside or get er done aside i have 1 friend with a bang ankle for 20 plus years culpt no stand, another one that lost both knee caps in a wheel chair 20 years later culptit no wheel blocks while the other mechanic power braked a drivebilty while a mechanic stood in front and the master cylinder bypassed failed and the emergency brake did not hold the force. another lost a finger from jewerly wearing on the high voltage ignition coil removing the wires under a load, another 30 feet in the air on a latter with no one securing the ladder all this while i am on other jobs but within the vecenity to see the results. I am on a regular bases like to day while i am getting a motor in another city, call the shop to see how my 2 guys are doing one had an emergency doctor appointment with the wife while my other mechanic is there alone pulling a motor. Told the mechanic on the motor come off on it go work on another vehicle much simpler untill me or the other mech. gets back just for safety reasons of something going wrong and being pinned by himself in the shop. Bottom line is no job no bonus no paycheck is worth the safety of a person be safe while you work.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeffrey Green says:

Hopefully that's not one of those magic disintegrating Harbor Freight jackstands…

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Renaldo Normani says:

Thinking maybe Removing the jack and leaving the stand only might be another way to draw attention, ….Psychology is hard, especially when recipient doesn’t catch the subtle nudges. Keep on trying….DR. Ray!-)

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CreatureOTNight COTN says:

Isn't there a axel floor jack tucked behind the two air compressors or is that the junk pile for jack's?

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Longmore says:

Seeing that guy working with their legs under the tire there made the skin on my legs crawl. So much nope. Nope, nope, nope.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars no worries mate says:

Light bulb may or may not come on.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mice InOz says:

What a sad reflection of a business if safety practices are so poor, not to mention possible damage to a customer vehicle. Whoever the supervisor is in this shop should be informed straight away, especially when stands were available to make the situation safe, but for laziness. At least Ray goes to some lengths to ensure his workarea is safe. If it were my business, this would be a "there's the door, don't let it hit you in the ass on your way out".

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mat's Garage and Stuff says:

That dude really died his hair 🤣🤣

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CiscoWes says:

Sometimes the jacks can leak and slowly go down without you even knowing it. Aside from the fact that it can just pop out from under the vehicle. And it ain’t easy trying to jack up a vehicle that has fell off of a jack like that. Don’t ask how I know 🤣

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Heike Childs says:

At the place where I worked we used hydraulic presses to stamp metal. The man working in the machine shop performed some maintenance work between these huge dies when the hydraulics suddenly failed. He had not blocked the press, violating safety protocols. One only needs to see that happening once to get a permanent memory of it.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Thomas Devine says:

The first rule of job safety in Never mess with another mechanics job. Say something if necessary but touching the job transfers liability.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars The Flat Rock says:

Not using a jack stand you may get away with it hundreds of times, it’s the one time that you don’t that bites. They wouldn’t make jack stands if accidents didn’t happen by not using them.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ashley Longley says:

Safety 1st, good on ya mate, looking after your buddy

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jimmy S says:

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ray Shutsa says:

That was a safety catch Ray even the best of pranksters can get pranked in return.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RONALD Tillinghast says:

That really wasn't safe haveing a peice of wood on the jack then no safty jack stand he really needs some safty training when I trained mechanic at the shop I told them first thing was safty first no one is gonna get injured on my time 👍

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ivor says:

    That's a firable offence

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars fred414141 says:

We used to have a pink jackstand and if u got the pink stand under your car you were sent home for 3 days as that was the shop owners and he took safety seriously enough where injury free days were in the low 500s

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James C says:

You are a good man Mr. Ray. Jack Sparrow as you called him could have crushed his legs if the Jack decided to go down. Keep these guys on their toes so they get to keep them.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim B says:

Sticking his legs under the tire isn’t a smart move, either.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gino Bragoli says:

"He's actually a bright young fellow" Until the jack gives way and the car crushes him then he was an unlucky fellow!

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donald Halls says:

Need camo jack stands… Or just let the car crush them once, they will learn.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars james daniels says:

Don't buy cheap jack stands. They could cost you your life if they fail.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ali En says:

I would have put the jackstand under it and hid the jack somewhere…

  51. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dundeeecroc says:

You didnt "get him", he got you!!

  52. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Browne says:

He should have jacked the axle not the frame. Then added the stand, and chocked the wheels.

  53. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark C. says:

What’s better than a single stand, two!

  54. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Costa says:

Please don't do this people. We lost a good tech when the jack gave out while he was under it. RIP Keith. You are forever missed.

  55. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scotty Milhouse says:

    Was the mechanic Scotty Kilmer?

  56. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rodney Pharaoh says:

The jack stand should have been placed under the axle before the tyre was removed then if the jack failed the vehicle would still be on its wheels

  57. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Darren says:

I thought that was fun! Moving through the Matix LOL! You are enjoyable to watch Ray🙂

  58. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars oldhp mopar says:

Teach him to jack up the "AXLE". NOT the body of the JEEP. That way you only lift about 1.5" to lift tire off the ground. Still set the jack stand under the axle.

  59. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Jordan says:

Famous youtuber Rainman Ray died today after trying to put a jackstand under a car being supported by a floor jack! LOL

  65. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cam Bill says:

Good job bloke 👍👍👍👍 I always use jack stands much better than alternative best to have a secondary I’ve seen a vehicle fall off a jack when the jack failed , seen 1 fall off a stand on a hoist and know 2 people killed by vehicles falling on them

  66. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brad Harris says:

My first lesson about the danger of not using jack stands was my boss putting a styrofoam cooler under the car, then challenging me to yank it out before he could let the jack down, after which he said, "Imagine if that were tour head."

I was wondering whereabouts in Florida you are. The character of the scenery on your test drives looks familiar. I moved there in '75 from Cleveland, Ohio, where I worked at Rick Case Honda. I worked at Sports Car South in Hollywood (long gone now, MG, Fiat, Alfa dealer), Miami Honda, Golden Wrench, South Broward Import Service, and finally Acura of South Florida. In '95 I enrolled in the computer electronics program at Sheridan Vo Tech, then took some Microsoft certification courses, after which I got a job in IT and moved away. I have family in Boca Raton and Del Ray Beach.

I really enjoy your videos and like your style. Kudos!

  67. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Allan Beck says:

Not a complete failure, he could not just pull it out.😀

  68. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andy Burk says:

But did he check the blinker fluid while he was there?

  71. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RogueWraith909 says:

No… you did get him, because he tried to remove it without checking to make sure the vehicle was high enough to take the weight off the stand first (which is also bloody dangerous!).

  72. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Zachary Smith says:

Homie didn't torch it, he's the one that failed.

  73. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars stan sams says:

Lol, dude needs to put some pep in his step, I would hate to see how long it takes him to do something that actually requires a mechanic to do.

  74. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mikey D. says:

If he was too lazy to use the jack stand in the first place, what kind of work will he do when he has to repair a vehicle? BTW, did he torque the lug nuts when he was done?

  75. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars john dilloway says:

I always put the wheel I took off underneath as well, maybe overkill, but it aint killing me.

  80. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Kennedy says:

👏👏👏👏safety first. There’s been people killed for not using jack stands. Years ago a friend of mine Dad was working underneath a car without jack stands, the floor jack failed, when they found him it was to late

  81. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Leonardo DaVinci says:

I'm not sure if you are being facetious or not. There SHOULD be a jackstand under the car because you NEVER want to rely on just a jack while working under a car. Was this supposed to be a teaching moment?

  82. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RacermonGaming says:

i dropped my car somewhat recently, if i had been really reaching under the car i woulda got a really heavy bonk, luckily i was already weary about dropping it (i was going to make it safe to be under but couldn’t lift it to that point unfortunately)

  85. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nigel Cox says:

Even more frightening was him sitting with his legs under the car while tightening the wheelnuts. Even with jack stands this is not a good idea. Would he have done that without it in place?

    Arrrrrrr

  87. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 2020 Hot Shot Trucking LLC says:

I bought 2 huge tool boxes at an auction. One had 6" tall spacers made for car jacks. They were made from a piece of 1" diameter round bar and some heavy wall sections of 1" ID pipe. They fit between the jack and the jack saddle for those times you need a taller jack. And for those occasions, I made up large wood blocks to set the jack stands on so they are not maxed out.

He isn't Capt. Jack Sparrow. He's Capt. Jackstand Sparrow.

  97. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wes Gregg says:

"Won't be able to let their car down" is a joke? Naw – casually walking up when they're working on the thing and dropping the jack,… "Aren't you glad I placed jackstands for proper safety?" Probably ought to wear your crash helmet for that one, though.

  98. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MrMit50101 says:

Dude was working in slow motion surprised he picked up that someone put a stand

  99. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars richard cranium says:

need i be the elephant in the room??? reaching under a vehicle to insert a stand is just as dangerous as not using one. the only difference is the amount of exposure to the hazard. what happens if it drops while you are placing the stand before it in place???
