Why do almost all the bolts in jeeps come in sizes usually left out of the standard mm toolkits like 18mm ARRRGHH Iv'e had to run back to the store just to buy wrenches and sockets so many times.
The other bolt for air box is top of fender….
Good thing your bolts were missing on air box cause they are a bitch to get off

I've had a high pressure replacement hose sitting on top of my tool chest for over a year for my 2000 Cherokee … small leak, only when you hit steering end … only Chrysler/Damler/benz wold put an metric bolt on top and an ASE on the bottom … luckily I've been spraying my bolts down for a year with blaster … lol … going to do it today along with 4 hole bosch injectors upgrade and a new Omix oil pressure sending unit … and found my annoying small evap leak yesterday … right angle boot to manifold was mush … 250K and it's never seen a paid mechanic, never been towed … my second cherokke in the last 40 years … i got 20 years and 300 k out of that 4.0

Probably the most easiest maintenance repair on a Jeep. Like most my air box had no bolts holding it down, no big deal. I would say 20 minutes max and job done. Video is right on the money.
The AMC designed Jeep 4.0L six with its 7 main bearings + crank girdle is one of the 3 best American gasoline inline sixes ever made; along with the "industrial" low RPM torque-monster Ford 300 and then the Mopar SLANT6 170/198/225 engines that uses 426 HEMI main bearings (thank you Willem Weertman).
The 4.0 is very easy to work on

I bought a Big Larry light. Lasted only a few days before the aluminum cap where the button is wouldn't stay on anymore. The body is thin and the threaded section got smaller from dropping it. Was able to push it out and make it last a few more days longer. I have since got the smaller Larry Trio, which is a single piece (doesn't open to change the battery), and it has lasted me months. Your mileage may vary. My work environment is nasty.

omg , after fighting with it for an hr , i saw the fitting goes into the pump not gearbox , had to catch my sheperd and forgot where it went …
so , mine has the hose going to a fitting in the gearbox and the fitting unscrewed instead of the hose … cant get threads started

You think of jeeps are money pits buyer Mercedes my brother had one and that power steering line on change for him was a pain in the tail it was a your 99 Mercedes E320 just enough room to get two hands down on top of the rack and pinion to get it loose
The owners manual for my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee (aka WJ) says specifically NOT to put ATF in the power steering. Implies it will damage rubber things (like hoses and o-rings).

Easy job
I got a 97 Taurus with low miles from a relative. He got it used and he always complained about the steering. I complained as well the steering felt over boosted. I had topped it up with power steering fluid. Even changed the power steering fluid. The steering didn't feel normal until I took the time to look up what fluid goes in there and it was Mercon iv. Did a flush and filled it actually with V and it's night and day. Instead of over boosted it felt normal with light assist.
Had to do the same to my 94 GC a few years back. Good job Eric.

Speaking of cutting the metal lines with a saw. Might you get shards of metal in the system from how you cut the metal line?
