Hello, tractor.

Very greasy 4L there not very well potty trained nope there not they look just like that here in Arizona Covered in Oil all over the starter typical 4L Jeep for ya Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
If start getting a battery drain…. check starter solenoid
4.7 ain't near that easy to change…. no getting to it from top
Normally this is how I end up fixing my vehicles.
There is seriously, a light on those jeeps that say "part time". So it tells you when it thinks it needs some parts thrown at it? ๐
It's looking really wet under there. Starter is looking really oily too. Is there an oil leak, er something?
When I see that hat, you remind me of a seaman, which I have a lot of fond respect for seaman and auto mechanics!!
The Larry series are the best flashlights on the market hands down ๐ฆ
Rat trap with peanut butter works great
I just came across your channel about a week ago so I've been watching all your videos I'd love to have a cabin like that but in Utah it would run about three hundred thousand for something like that
Mitsubishi Starter ? POS !
Thinking about getting this starter (TYC). Anyone have any experience, reviews, or opinions on this part?
I don't know how I missed this one ? Any how, should have taken it apart to see what the problem was ? A lot of times it's just caked with oil or the brushes are worn down. Fixed my MOPAR one for $ 9.00 for brushes & a total clean job.
What year is that vehicle
badass piece of property!
I'll be doing a starter as soon as it gets here.our problem was the starter was hanging up. You just needed to tap the starter case with a hammer ,then it would disengage. It looks like it's about the only thing that is easy to do on a Cherokee. I had to have a AC compressor put in. All day job. Thanks. Great source of information ๐
I love when you're under a car or a truck and you got a bolt that has limited access like that. Turns out the damn thing goes all the way out to the front bumper or something you're under there for 20 minutes just trying to get it out. I noticed one of your videos you actually use a creeper. I hate those things you got to crank on a wrench and your whole body slide out from under the car! I had three creepers at my old place and I never used any of them well except once. I'd rather lay on a tarp and just slide
A shot of Jim Beam or/and Jack D on the work bench when the job is done. I like that. My Jeep starter looked like that too, after helping a friend do his, the next one I decided to disconnect the cables and use almost a can of brake spray to get as much crud off of it as I could before starting the removal, it made for a better experience than the last one. Good informative video . This shot is for you.
I would like to own a farmall cub.
You have a lot of beautiful property.
ok so it is a old video! I have not seen. my uncle's cabin was like what yours is the road if you call it a road! looks like the old underground pipeline we used! so I understand spending time as much as possible! what I can not understand is stopping at a perfectly good warm shop and instead of working there! Going full out Caveman and working in the cold and damp place? why? I would have fixed the jeep at the shop and gone to the cabin to sit on the porch with a nice warm fire going inside! but then my mechanics day are past and I was a glutton for punishment myself.
I carry a Big Larry working in a data center. Helps with tightly packed server racks when you are trying to read cables and ports on servers and networking gear.
It's rugged and bright, a good combination for a light.
Make sure it's pointed away from your eyes when you turn it on, the first mode is full bright and will hurt if you shine it in your eyes.
One 9/16 bolt and one 15 mm bolt. Isn't that spacial.
Hahaha Big Larry
That's how I have to work on my car accept no pavement……just shot rock…..and lots of pain.
"Hello, viewers! Welcome to the SELF-MADE Auto Channel!"
Should have just dumped the booze on the starter, it would have been fine then.
i love these journey's you take us all on weather its pulling an engine or a water pump job on a neglected gm with dexcool mud in the whole system and not to mention the educational value to it all i'm just a shade tree mechanic my self but thanks to you i know a lot more about cars please keep these video's coming !
Glad to see you can do repairs like us street mechanics lol
Much appreciated, changed out the starter in my 04 using this. Works great!
14mm for front bolt and 15mm for the rear bolt worked perfectly. The new solenoid took a 12mm to secure the wires.
Back in the day when starters drew more current and the cables were heavier, I did notice a difference if I cleaned the old high-current cable-end terminals with a wire brush and WD40 before I put them on the new or reconditioned starters. The ground from the battery to the block also needed maintenance from time to time, not only at the battery but also at the block. My grandfather told me they just had to be tight, but I found they needed to be both clean and tight for reliability over the extreme temperature ranges of Saskatchewan and Alberta.
The man has a Multi million dollar auto repair shop. And he repairs his own car in a cabin in the woods??? Insane.
I had a 1994 Jeep Cherokee (why did I sell that?). Never had a problem with the starter. Too well oil since every time I changed oil it got a bath.
I wonder how long the new one will last with all that oil bleeding all through itโ
Gotta get the cabin warmed up oh yeah…I just replaced the starter on my 2001 Grand Cherokee โฆ she was on the way out and the Jeep needs to get me up to the ski hill this winter…cause I'm pretty sure Mrs. O ( yes I also have a Mrs. O ) is not going to let me take hers….
A little laughter for the day Eric did mrs. O kick you out of the house now you got to go to your hunting cabinet and live and work she took the garage to at least she was nice enough to share the dogs with you you got one she got one now you got to work on your cars like we do on the ground just kidding having fun with you that's a beautiful place there I love it I would love to live there
Gosh, I thought I lived in the sticks.
How do you feel about rebuilding starters?
Man I could deer hunt there.
Ya hit the target with the parts cannon. Always sweet success.
175K on a 4 liter G/C just getting broken in with your skills i would be shocked if you didn't get 400k plus out of it.
Wow, I have to huskies and they do not hang around if there is no fence to keep them in they would be gone! I would love to have my dogs hang around like yours.
Was that a rod rack behind you when you were splitting wood? Did you make that?
Itโs worth looking over a misbehaving starter when you have it out. Most problems are caused by dirty/worn contacts on the solenoid, followed by worn brushes on the motor itself. A good clean up and wiring brushing of contacts costs nothing. A replacement brush kit is cheap so unless the primary motor windings are shorting out as a DIYer I like to refurbish my motors rather than replace them as it is kinder on my pocket
You store your whiskey in the garage ????
