I own a MS 906 BT. It's awesome. No wire to drag around is a blessing. And I can cast to my laptop with TeamViewer. I think you should do a video of that for viewers.

hey there eric i have a 2001 ram 2500 with the big 5.9l 360 v8 my ac works but it kicks on and off like in 5 sec. only started to do this when i put new froen in it did i over pressure the system or some thing else making the compresser do that on and off on and off on and off any thing i can check or should i take it in to have it checked out and does it hurt the clutch doing that it is just a bone stock system no parts at it except a clutch 3 yrs. ago what do you think let me know what you think great videos as ever love the other channel to tried all your recipes boy they are soooooo good thanks for all you do on here see you in the next one
Just blame it on covid and you dont have to make replacement parts anymore. So now its only worth half as much.
Time to just bypass that relay and add your own. Looks like there is even a empty slot in that fuse box that could be used.

I use the ms 906ts scan tool myself and there 4 way oslyscope mp408 and for an at home shop that dose general repairs and classic restoration prodjects these tools are all I need along with my power probe etc3000 short chaser another must have in my book!!

The scan tools also do relay testing turning them on and of and you just listen to make sure they click back and forth but im sure you know that, it just sucks that there's so many mechanics out there who don't mess with electric issues and trouble shooting them anymore.
Pull it out and add an external relay, easy enuff and help out your customer. Few inches of wire and a soldering gun with a generic relay of the correct ampacity.
Remember the days when you could pull out the part and send it to a instrument repairer and you would get it back 2 days later!
As an advanced DIYer, I love my Autel 906bt MaxiSys. I've had it for about 3 years now, and it's paid for itself several times over. Love the bidirectional control, live data, module VIN writing, key programming, etc. Of course, the tool is only as good as the person using it which is why I love learning from your channel.

Don't buy a Fiat Jeep.
My father and I had brand new 2003 Dodge Rams, mine had the 4.7 V8 and an open differential and his had the Hemi and a limited slip, mine was blue and his was green, they were otherwise identical, everything that happened to one happened to the other within a few hundred miles of the other, warped brake rotors around 12,000 miles, transmission shift lever broke at under 6,000 miles, rear end went out around 29k miles. Never again for me.
I guess I’ve been lucky, I own the diesel model and have never had an issue with it, I replaced the parts that are known to fail like the hose in the valley and keep her well maintained. Parts in Australia are ridiculously priced but I’d still prefer American than Chinese.
It’s got to the point you can’t do it anymore because of everything you stated and the way the world is on parts I don’t want to get banned from your channel lol
Companies exist that can rebuild that PDC.

No parts at the wrecking yard?
I have learned working for a company there are issues reengineering things. It is assumed that the engineers who designed the product and the factories that created the product took the safest and best way for the consumer of the product. Boiling down what I’m trying to say into fewer words you can have a lot of legal difficulties over troubles like this if you just decide to reengineer it on your own unless it is your own and even then I wouldn’t be blabbing about my great repair.
What I do wonder is about the possibility of taking the power distribution center out and giving it to an electronics repair shop to fix the relay issues and then again you reinstall upon the repair. My questions would be Will there be issues about the electronic repair shop not being licensed or certified to work on automotive products.
Back ordered for two years? Let Mrs. O. try her hand at soldering.

Eric, I hope you are doing training on EV's, because you are still a young guy and the IC cars are on the way out along with all this complex wiring and impossible to fix modules.
A lot of time the pins are burned and melted in the connector, always check that as well.

Guess8ng with a bit of searching there are rebuilders for that issue just like on the TIPMs. Hope can get fixed. Terrible idea to not make relays replacable.
We just add an external relay for any failed relay. Not hard, not expensive, & no more non replaceable relay!

The old back order problem is great for the Junk yard the guy that owns the junk yard just raised his price after seeing this video.
"… on back order for 2 years …". And THAT is why it's at your shop. Someone was hoping you'd pull a technical rabbit out of your hat I'm bettin'… 😉 Can you imagine making the call, ordering the part, waiting a year only to have it show up and NOT fix the problem? No shop wants that liability!

400 bucks for what amounts to a new relay, good ol' Fiat Chrysler, now Stellantis owned, (parent company of Peugot). That'll help the quality🤣🤣

Had a new customer come in with a no AC issue. They stated that the dealership said they needed a compressor. System was full of freon but no power was going to the compressor no codes And the relay was working with power on both sides. Started checking the harness and found a place that was cleaner , pulled back the wire wrap and found that the wire going to the compressor was cut,. It was a clean cut that looked like it was done with a pair of dikes. Fixed the wire, charged the customer and said done
There are more than a couple of ways to fix that, all with stuff you have laying in that shop, all in less than the time it’d take to make a video about it.
Work on Chryslers for a living see this problem all the time and also see fuses melted in the box poor connection esp. on headlights,
From what it sounds like it would be a relatively easy to replace the relay since you can't get the part new. If you did not want to get into pcb repair, you could send the customer over the Ivan to replace the relay.

I went to my local Ford dealership part department looking for OEM exhaust manifolds for a 5.4 in a E350 van. No stock and a 6 week back log on getting passenger side, 10 weeks for drivers.
Seeing how I'm going to have to stud weld to 10 out of 16 exhaust studs, the wait time for parts might coincide.

Wire in a relay that by passes the pcm I did a dodge 2500 ram dsl. Found wire from dash module for trigger on at relay, I'm sure you know the rest.

How did you verify control of the relay from the pcm? Grounding relay with test light, inadvertently, verified power and ground but not control.

I recently picked up a 906Pro-TS (906 Pro with tpms tool built in). As my first bi-directional scan tool, there’s a bit of a learning curve as a driveway diy-er, but it has earned my respect and has been worth every penny.
