I think you should sage it! Paranormal stuff right there..

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jimmy vaughn says:

I had a 2000 dodge intrepid with 3.2 that had bad crank sensor that would do same thing after short run time the sensor would heat up and cause engine to die with same symptoms this occurred after being heat soaked and then some coolant being spilt onto maybe causing shock to the sensor causing it to become heat sensitive

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars France says:

Fascinating, I always thought the engine ran off the crank sensor with help from the cam sensor, and not the other way around.

Great set of video Eric O catching all the Chaos @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

Surprised the Cam Sensor going haywire Didn't nuke the Ecm like it did the Coils Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Antonio Claudio Michael says:

Makes me think the ECM Has gone Haywire ๐Ÿค” strange first crank sensor then was replaced then Cam Sensor Odd Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Antonio Claudio Michael says:

The electrical sound at the beginning is very Bizarre running fine and boom stalls and then the cam Sensor goes haywire makes me think that's what caused the Coils to meltdown ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค” Nice catch On camera Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars klumpy103 says:

I'm fairly certain that at the moment the cam sensor went loopy and the engine physically stopped, the pcm took the cam sense data as real and went into default run mode due to the obvious no crank signal, thus ignoring the crank signal for what followed, basically it thought the engine was running, therefore everything was live with very very nasty results. Great diagnosis and it really does pay to follow the clues until there is only one suspect. i am quite surprised there wasnt a failsafe mode for that scenario from the get go.

Wow this has been the best information I've ever seen on thus jeep issue. We've had this issue on 06 liberty for years. It's doing it again…thanks for the video!

I have had Chrysler cars in the past. Problems with everyone of them being electrical. Anything from short in the dash to ballist resistors. I haven't bought one in decades because of the problems with them. Now days when I see a Chrysler product I run the other way.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Groel says:

    Strange one ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿบ

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom Beilman says:

That Jeep has gremlins, needs an exercisim

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom Sawyer says:

" Let me try that one more time" as you continue to detonate an engine so you can get "scope data".
    Not a good idea.

    Jeep just empty evey pocket!!!!

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paublus Americanus AMERICANUS says:

This reminds me of back in the 60's and why you never left the key on just sitting. What happened was at just the right setting it burned the points up or so my father said. I bet Eric never leaves a car heavy charging with the key on by walking off again.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rafael Marin says:

Bad crank & cam sensors, wonky ignition coils,,, all at once. Sounds a lot like my Nissan Frontier. ๐Ÿ˜†

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bryan Hines says:

    That's weird ๐Ÿ˜•

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars KRTube75 says:

I skipped ahead a bit so maybe I missed it….Did you check the coils to make sure none were cooked again?

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

Yeah didn't hear anything snapping clicking or arcing at one point I thought I did hear a crackling or sizzling on the driver side but nothing later

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cameron Davidson says:

What great video, very nice work sir. you should be proud

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ozzy Krahn says:

chrysler products are like a holes, people who drive them are a holes

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paublus Americanus AMERICANUS says:

Eric o you are saying how come this happened all at once. It is related. The cam sensor would sit and send multiple signals to the injectors and the coils. It could be turning them on thousands of times in a minute. You would think the programmers for the ecm would have forbidden zones on impossible rpms but they failed.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

Gee crank sensor stuck on high cam sensor tripping injectors and spiking power to the coils as it was perhaps it was a whole passel of troubles adding up to its smoking hot show for you to work out very well done Erick kept me on the edge of my sear and trying to work through the problems myself as you were doing I was thinking there may have been a problem in the emergency shut down but you went a different route and came to the similar conclusion but I was leaning towards the ecm being fried but couldnt completely go there because it still ran lol very good detective work man

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bruce irvine says:

    Pretty countryside!

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bruce irvine says:

Would there be a program update for the Liberty that solves that safety problem.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars george bonney90 says:

I was watching this video when u went live on W.U.W,I thought that was pretty cool, keep up the good work sir

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kevin Haddock says:

I'd suspect the crank position sensor failed some time before this video was made but Chrysler programmed the vehicle to be as robust as possible which allowed it to keep running until the cam position sensor also started to fail (with, I'm sure the customer ignoring the flashing "money light" the whole time).

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tony camuso says:

All that from a magnetic sensor

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Larry Whiteley says:

Wish you were here in Indy…having weird crap happening on my daughter's 04 Liberty

Really enjoyed watching your process. Iโ€™m a beginner backyard mechanic and a total nerd for knowledge. I can appreciate your tenacity and persistence.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Greg Sullivan says:

Great follow through. I was glued to every minute of both videos. I even learned a new word, "swaptronics".
I would have had to swallow my pride and take it to a professional. I've worked on my own cars for over 50 years and I've never come across anything like what you were dealing with. Even though I'm sure you fixed it, I would not trust that Jeep to go very far from home.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rusty The Raver says:

WOW! That was scary! You would think Chrysler would put some sort of fail-safe in the software or something…. Put a fire extinguisher behind the seat!

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Martin Kucic says:

You were using swaptronics on a different level Eric.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Frank George says:

    Thank you!

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Big Bear Venom says:

Yeah these are ticking time bombs ready to burn homes down !

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars THEDRAGONBOOSTER8 says:

I think the Jeep had the last laugh , at the end when you wondered what music this thing plays . HA ,HA HA..

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars YH says:

Great work Eric! I was curious as to which update the Engine Control Module (ECM) had installed, and if the ECM had the most current software update. I'm not sure if that would have made any difference.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars A M says:

Sorry for commenting on old videos, but it seems to be a PCM software bug where the PCM is ignoring the key off if the CKP sensor signal is missing. The CKP signal is being replaced with reference values, and in that process the PCM is ignoring the key off condition and just listening to crazy CMP sensor signal, firing away the coils and injectors like the car were running. Buggy software.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Derek Simenac says:

Don't understand why you need to replicate it over and over, seems like a waste of time. It's obvious the cam sensor was firing the coils and burning them.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dan Labelle says:

Man I learned so much ,from watching the video Tks

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ืกื‘ืชื ืจื‘ื says:

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Patrick Loughridge says:

Really REALLY good troubleshooting Eric O !!! Very impressive.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Deandra Hubbs.Waduge says:

I just have one question; did the radio come on & start playing Rock& Roll music? If it did you need to check out the movie Christian, you may have something there.
