I was surprised to learn my fuel pump and filter were underneath my back seat
I have the same problem with my 2008 Jeep Liberty. Auto Zone hooked up their diagnostic tool and it said the most likely culprit was the Crankshaft Position Sensor. So I bought the part and had some dude change it. No dice. The dude said he smelled gas as I did before. So this prompted him to say it was the fuel pump. So the owner is headed down in a few weeks and she has Triple A. So she is going to have it towed to a shop and have it looked at. As a side note the check engine light is on. When I try to start the vehicle it won't turn over. It tries to start but won't. Would like to have a little knowledge when explaining the problem. Any insight is welcome.
What size drill bit did you use to drill out the ribbits and what size brass punch did you use ?

what about exposing yourself to benzene that is in the gas……you put your hand in the tank. Yes, chemical, long sleeve gloves are available at harbor freight. You have to respect chemicals. Cumulative effect on the kidneys and liver will catch up with you later in life; seen a great many mechanics with kidney cancer due to chemical exposure over the years. My father was a fighter pilot in the Navy….benzene exposure resulted in kidney cancer. Respect the chemicals and wear the protection. I enjoy both channels and you have a wonderful family. Through your two channels, I have met your wife, kids, father, and two brothers. Very impressed with your work and your wonderful family.
Hey Eric, much respect but I would never be within 50 feet of somebody using a torch around a fuel pump…………..scary.
Not to drag an old video out of the graveyard. But I'm driving a 03 liberty and was replacing the fuel pump and filter when a plastic piece of the fuel flange cover, the lid to the tank that the fuel pump and filter connect to on opposite sides, broke. More specifically the L piece on the outside that connects to the longer of the 2 top lines from the fuel filter. I have searched high and low for a replacement piece for this and even the whole fuel tanks I find don't have this lid with them… do you have any advice for where I could look for a replacement cover? Mopar says the part was discontinued and I can't find anywhere that has made a replacement.

What was the difference between the two wave form that tell you that the fuel pump was bad? Is just the rpm ? Can we still have good amps in a bad pump?
Have a 2011 grand cherokee with the same problem. 2 FP relay recalls later and it still doesn't work. FP relay is OK.
There is a fuel tank here under this panel.

On your RPM calculation for the pump motors, when you consider a full cycle of the waveform, keep in mind that with a 2 brush DC motor each full cycle of a waveform will represent half a rotation therefore your calculations came up with twice the RPM that it is actually turning because those same commutator pads make contact on each brush twice per revolution.
Vacuum lock.
O2 sensor.
Hey. Is the "upper portion" of the fuel module replaceable? I cant find it online. Does the upper part contain the pressure valve for cold starting?
Where did you get that fuel pump from? I called the dealership and they said they discontinued these parts for this jeep liberty
Paper shop towels in a funnel make a good gasoline filter when pouring the gas from one container to another.
Thank you for this video. My daughters 2002 Jeep Liberty had the fuel pump go bad. It was nice to find your video on You Tube. We were glad to be able to be able to watch you repair one. We had a bad after market one at first attempt but exchanged it and replaced it and were successful. One thing to note (we didnt do this) is to not dry run the new replacement pump due to the fact that it can ruin it. Thanks again.
