In this video I have a look at 2017 Jeep Patriot that was dropped off from an other shop for a complaint that the marker lights do not work. They replaced the T.I.P.M. but that was not the issue. Let's have a look. -Enjoy!

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dominique Naomi says:

It's a common problem in keeps. The bulb over heats for some reason. I changed mine to LEDs. No problem yet

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Adam Reyna says:

best honest mechanic. Most shops where in live will replace something over $500 and low key replace the cheaper part. I spent $12,000 in repairs on a old grand caravan and it was the biggest mistake in my life. the mechanic never replaced the parts with new ones. I went trough 2 engines 3 transmissions and 2 ac rebuilds. I am willing to drive from California to get my cars fixed at your place.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Bambenek says:

Your powers of observation have no equal and is so important when tracking down a problem. Knowing what normal is when something is broken can quickly get you pointed in the right direction.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars gunsaway1 says:

I always use Dow Corning Dielectric grease in the connectors and sockets. Keeps the crud out.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MacmanJim says:

Love it 3mins work, 1hr labor, 2hrs passed on to the customer when delivered to the other shop…. If I lived near SMA would only go there

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MacmanJim says:

.00001 seconds into the video I knew what the problem is… Its a FIAT…

You are mechanic that know the old way and not a parts replace till it is done I love watching you fix and you are funny doing it

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Romanage says:

I was taught that it was called "Going down the garden path." Great teachers have had such an influence on my trouble shooting skills. It is also fun to watch the new, book smart techs get out smarted by old school street smart techs.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ryan Hull says:

Also sad that a 3 year old Jeep has such horrific electrical issues. They're literally making disposable cars and selling a price-point.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ryan Hull says:

    "It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand…"
    Chrysler/Mopar buys them out….
"Don't worry, we fixed that… Now everyone who's ever owned a mopar product understands exactly…"

    Also, Profit! $$$

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars G Gordon says:

Even in the rust belt, this on a three year old car? Should be Chryslers problem lady!

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Adan Navarro says:

You mean like a transmission but you say trans trans…… gender. Lol I forgot which video but I caught it.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Potts says:

Happened on my 68 Ford. License light had a short, would trip a breaker built into the headlight switch.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Terry Schroeder says:

Ok, really like this. Can't stop laughing. Love you Eric in a nice sort of way. Keep it up my friend.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Aaron bilger says:

Eric, I got a 2004 ford explorer every time i shut the car off shortly after the gauge needles flicker down below for couple of seconds it has done this ever since i have had it (2 years) I have upgraded all the ground wires. Starts up fine no issues just don't understand why the gauges do this? its a common thing in these

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jeff James says:

Electrical Problems in all Jeep products can be traced back to plugged AC drain ports. 😁

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Poker Dog says:

Seems like a design flaw by Chrysler (surprising no one). Need a seal on those plate light covers for northern areas where they use road salt.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars calicantdrive says:

Dealership tech here and I see those LED modules fail short all the time. Never seen it in the connector, but then I'm not exactly in the salt belt. Nice find, Eric!

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ozzy Krahn says:

One reason why i wont buy chrysler products, them and gm must use the same style electrical system

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lloyd McMullen says:

How about kiss "keep it simple silly". Some times we tend to overlook the obvious causes… and the little things can sometimes cause the biggest issue

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars SKMC69 says:

You got to see ECU driver protection in action again. I love being the 5th guy to diagnose something.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jay Brooks says:

Its a jeep.. hit the dash.. lol

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars R says:

As a 10 year Chrysler dealer tech, my first thought was the TIPM. We got my wife a new 2012 Chrysler 200 in May, wipers quit working in July at 2069mi, our electrical genius helped me narrow it to a bad TIPM. Eric O takes the time time to do the right diag. We need more technicians in dealerships that don’t throw parts on and cross their fingers. Just because its a common failure part doesn’t mean its the problem.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars quadpit says:

Had a Jeep WJ with several weird electrical issues but I like how you simplify diagnosis and keep things simple in the explanation. Electrical issues make my head feel like it will explode sometimes. Having a good wiring diagram would be a good start as well but you found this one very quickly. Thank you for making the video.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Ops says:

Thanks I got 1 coming in the shop Tomorrow morning

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Henry Dunbar says:

For those DIY people, Jeep dealers may tell you the LED license lamps are not replaceable and you have to buy a complete assembly for big $$$. Resourceful guys have found those same LED lamps used on Fiat 500 for about $20 or at Rock Auto for $8 (PN 68228931AA)

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars moomike laloo says:

Fiat Crapler …..why make something simple when hard is so much easier? That company should have died in 1980 when it had a chance to. TIPM this…

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Nasium says:

So Eric gets it in 5 minutes and the other guys are helpless if the scan tool doesn't show a code. It's very rare to find a mechanic who is both skilled and honest. A tribute to Eric and a sad indictment of America, I think.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Quantum Leap says:

Eric gave some damn good advice at the end. Don't assume anything, do your job, diagnose using common sense, let the vehicle tell you what is wrong or right! Smart guy all around.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 51WCDodge says:

My Dear Boy! If you were working on English vehicles, you would have automatically reached for the replacement Lucas smoke.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ORESTINO says:

Sometimes is better to be lucky than good.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Willy7212 says:

Loved it. (give it the beans). (heres your problem lady) Please keep making your helpful videos Eric. Thank you.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jonathan Gahan says:

I guess it’s easy to learn how to work on Chrysler products. They give you so much practice.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars mlg1969 says:

I went to Auto Tech school back in 1989. The first day of Electrical workshop the instructor told us that everything electrical contains "magic smoke" and that's what makes it work. Then he took a piece of 16 gauge wire and connected it across the two terminals of a 12 volt car battery. The wire started smoking as the insulation started to melt. He told us he had just let the "magic smoke" out of the wire so now it was no good. Some things never change. Thanks again for a really great and useful vid Dr. O.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Odin's Child says:

did you fix the licence lights?

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Webster Kollie says:

At least wash your car before taking it in to the mechanic. I'm sure they'll appreciate that lol

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Craig Pennington says:

The only thing good about the Patriot is the body style. The rest is crap – all of it.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Blue Mudder says:

Chrysler???? You mean Fiat! Fix It Again, Tony!

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rodney Hammon says:

I always learn on your channel…….thanks

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ken says:

    great work, great tech !!

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars veterandd214 says:

Sometimes it's just the simple stuff.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MrJoel8959 says:

I’d love to hear the service writer for the other shop telling the truth to the customer, “Yeah we had no idea what we were doing so we sent it down the street to another guy who’s amazing at this stuff. So anyways please keep coming back to our shop in the future for all your car repair needs”.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jake thesnake says:

Good thing you rescued it, They were about to load the parts cannon.

  50. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Will Robertson says:

Jeep is short for saying fiat ..over priced junk keep fixing them good job
