And so it begins! The first video on the WJ Wyatt brought up to me from Tennessee. In this video I start out by installing the Iron Rock Off Road Premium Rock Sliders. The job goes pretty well with some minor modification to the drivers side. All in all very happy with the fit and function. -Enjoy!

You did a good job !!
That's a bad design !!!
That Jeep is almost too clean to take off road.
Ask a machinist friend for a ( center drill ) bit for starting holes after center punching it / it will not walk all over the place
Awesome video and great job as always!! Keep them coming!! You really need to stop making everything look so easy…!!
The rails are nice and shinny no battle scars yet
Why not tap a thread into chassis
What ever happened to this Jeep? I never see videos anymore on it. I think you buggered it up and its not safe to drive now.
They look clean. Not overwhelming in the way bar. Very nice! Have fun man.
For the bolts, you can use a cutoff wheel and make a slot in the shank and use a flat tip to hold it while you get started.
Love this series of Jeep project.
I went through two trucks (army surplus Dodge, then short bed Ford "77 351 Cleveland) before I decided that off road mudding as a hobby was too expensive for my taste. I then bought Chevy 4×4's that were able to use 31 or 33 inch tires with no lift…( I have always had a Chevy for on road) , for occasional mud on the way to the deer stand. I still have my '04 Z71 with 200K….in fine shape for on road or light off road. My wife uses a Jeep Grand Cherokee as a daily people hauler…and she loves it.
Loved it
Eric nice GCbut aren't those 4.7l engines a bit on the weak side for durability? What are you going to put in when that blows up?
Where the braces bolted to the frame nut-serts or riv-nuts would have worked good. Not quite as good as a bolt and nut but a hell of a lot better than the tek screws. Good job! they look good
Hey Eric o I have a question, could you please make sure you record and upload a video if you work on a 2003 Mercedes Benz cl 500… thank you
How many miles were on this when you bought it? Was the lack of rust the most important thing you looked for alomg with no bkdg damage? I want to buy one. Do you have a video on what to look for and on what order (of importance)?
maybe the rails are backwards reason they didnt line up good?
Mr O, what's your rust proofing plan for this presently rust-free Jeep?
Be it a year ago ,, just wondering how has those rocker rails held up in the weather, ?? I want to get some for my wj conserned about the snow and salty roads for the rust out ??
What year Is yours, will the kit fit a99wj 4.0 4×4 grand Cherokee Laredo, what does the kit cost?
mate, the way you put the video together, and the amount of practical details you put in (holding the end of the bolt, or friction being enough to do it) is SO good for the people who don't have the day-to day practical experience. Many skim over this stuff because I guess it seems too trivial. This video really made me think I can do it! (Y) thank you!
Eric, I would have used 1/4" pop rivets.
Uni body on a Jeep makes me feel sick.
Could have used rivnuts on the inner fixings ? More money though I suppose, but easier to remove if desired.
This series will be really enjoyable to watch. I trust the progress goes well.
3 m RUBBERIZED under coating dries hard and is paintable and will not come off! No other brand works!
Where did you get your light.? I would do the bottom in bed liner.
Grind it weld it done
Would be funny if you did all that work and then the doors didn't open on one side cause of hitting the bar
I never liked these rock rollers, if they bolted more into the frame and not into the rocker panels it would be WAY better
A 1/4-20 bolt is not fine thread. 1/4-28 is fine thread.
I always pre drill with a small drill bit then drill to final size. I've always done it this way…not sure why…but I have more control this way.
Nice toy Eric O. Guess you'll have a few rock climbing video's when it's all done and up for the task.
I have an overland in the xact same color 🙂
I've used rivet nuts on uni body. Works great.
Adding a skid plate, lift kit and knobby tires, O.K.But fitting all that heavy gauge steel like bull bars, rock sliders, brush guards, luggage roof racks, and such is a waste of money. Looks cool? or looks like heavy garbage. I saw a factory Wrangler loaded with that crap, plus a farmers jack, winch, and an exterior jerrycan. Chrysler couldn't have charged that pigeon anymore.
Very good video. I like that you show what it takes to get er done when there issues. It seams there are always some issue when installing modified equipment.I have watch all of your videos on modifying the WJ, and am receiving my Rough Country 4" lift today. Your video inspired me to go a little outside my comfort zone and install myself. Wish me luck.
no brakleen,slipping into depression…:)
Nice!!
Excellent choice 👍🏻 😃 have fun in building her
Quality work as usual. It does, however, kill me to see a nice clean example get turned into Swiss cheese. It is only original once! I guess that it would be less upsetting to see an old stove getting drilled full of holes as they are a dime a dozen.
nice project.
I would have used a longer stainless bolt for the rocker to to frame fish it thtough the frame from inside and secure it with spring washer and nut. Since its long so I will use double nuts on the tip of the bolt. It is used to hold the bolt when tightening and removing the bolt.
Did IRO discontinue these sliders?
Buy a welder…..
Instead of the self tappers I used nutsertson my boys jeep. Little extra time but worked nicely.
Will You Be Installing Front and Rear Bumper Guard Tubing?
you would think they would add a shim kit
"After Market Parts" ?? LOL
Nutserts would have been the perfect solution for the mounting holes. I'm binge-watching this project's videos!
I like the video. If you don't mind me asking. How much did those rock sliders set you back
For anybody else watching this. Never put rock sliders (or really anything that bolts to a unibody) unless the suspension is holding up the vehicle. Also make sure the work area is a level as it could be. The WJ was much more stiffer. But it was still kinda flexible.
Now it still might be tweaked even with the suspension supported. But it might be straighter.
