Why on earth does a power steering rack need reprograming? why does it even need to be hooked up to the ECU?? This is why I hate new cars.
I had one of the Mercedes GLA’s and it was the worst car that I have ever owned.
Rough ride and not a smooth gearbox or Engine,it went back to MB umpteen times to have the gearbox software updated and the Cat cleaned ( cat has a auto clean but trying to do 2500rpm + for 20 minutes ( over 70 mph is a near impossible task on UK Roads ) !!.
It would drive ok for a few weeks but gradually get worse.
Yeah I hate TPCM and all the other gadgets and gizmos ( like signpost recognition ( Drivers have eyes don’t they !!! ) and the sensors for distance from parked cars to cars in front are all just wrong ( as the driver you should be aware of how wide and long your car is !!! ).
Drivers are becoming reliant on the technology and not using it as a AID ,people crash a car and say stupid things like " The SatNav said go that way ( down one way street or motorway ?!! ) or " The car didn’t warn me about the car that T-boned me at a Junction " , people are not using their eyes on Roundabouts ( this is in the UK 🇬🇧 ).
As you say about Tyres I have seen people in Brand new cars driving with Flat tyres and when you say to them " you have a flat " they look at you with blank expressions !! Surely they can feel the car driving badly ?!!.
4 wheel tracking should be done on every vehicle as far as I am concerned at least once a year, I am seeing more and more cars and vans crabbing down the Road and Motorway nowadays,not sure if it’s because people are unwittingly buying second hand vehicles which have been ' repaired ' and not checked or people are selling vehicles which aren’t really fit for the road…..when it comes to the MOT in the UK lots of cars are being found with broken suspension and running gear ( bent wheels and struts,dodgy wheel bearings etc ).
Second hand market is high atm so I reckon a lot of dodgy cars are being passed on but unfortunately many people when buying a car don’t get them pre-sale-checked by a Garage or the AA or RAC as it’s a extra expense but it could save them a fortune in the long term !!!???.
They sure play 4 non blondes a lot on your radio station in the shop.

Sorry Ray, I have to disagree with you about your opinion (and those that share that opinion) that TPMS is more or less worthless. You guys are totally ignoring their most important benefit…when you lose tire pressure quickly due to damage by a foreign object. Yes, drivers should keep an eye on tire pressure, but what happens when you catch a nail or screw and you're on the highway doing 75? Wouldnt you want an early warning, or more importantly, your wife with a car full of kids, that you're losing pressure fast, maybe getting to the point of a blowout or riding on the rim? You want to risk losing control and/or sustaining a small fortune in damage? I wish I had had tpms on my dually rv tires when one tire lost enough pressure to rub against its neighbor and blow it up due to the friction, allowing the steel belts to carve up the floor and destroy the toilet area like a buzzsaw. $$$$! You should rethink this one amigo.
To this day I wait for the jigsaw puzzle. Totally normal front axle I worked on dozens of times with a simple two bolt spring compressor. I mean, anything simpler than that and it's Duplo.
What I mean to say is, that such front axles suck. Even if you know them and work on them frequently…
Oh, and I hope your torqued down the bolts with the suspension compressed in driving height. Otherwise the customer will be back in a few thousand km because the bushings are torn.

Okay, this video is making be tons happy that when I got replacement struts for my van, they came preassembles with the springs correctly on them, I had the option to just buy the kit but paid extra for pre-assembled. Surprised my dad I got preassembled, but he was my mechanic who swapped them out, I was trying to keep the work low for him. Struts are heavy, but the fortuitous part is that I had also bought a wiper motor for the van and since the wiper assembly had to get pulled out to swap out the struts got that part done too. The work smarter thing just happened without me knowing what my dad needed to do to swap out the struts.
On torque test channel the 3/8 is actually more powerful than the 1/2. Also ratcheting impacts and not very popular and max torque like 240lb. Weak really. The new dewalt mud torque is almost high torque dcf899 numbers. 800lb loosening. Beastly. Don’t expect much from those ratcheting impacts.

Enjoy the content. I don't want to have to work on any of the newer vehicles……ever. I did my own mechanic work when I was younger on the 60's and early 70's models. Vehicles are much too complicated now. I appreciate your sense of humor, the sound effects you make, along with your ability as a mechanic. It suffices to say that you have a good voice for speaking and I've noticed you have a face for radio. I also appreciate that you forego the use of foul language, it makes the video more enjoyable and it makes it easier for me to recommend your channel to others, which I have. Well done, Ray. Seeing the care you take is terrific. I remember getting work done on the front end of my 89 Grand Marquis. A few days later, odd noises from the left front. The shop had replaced the bracket. Trouble is they got the standard bracket, and forced it on. They had to replace both bushings and brackets with the correct ones for the 1¼ inch antisway bar that was part of the 351 Trailer Tow III Package. Simple carelessness. That was the start of a fast downward slide in the quality of their work. They quickly lost all 5 of my group of friends who were going there with our old and high mileage cars.
oh my gosh the spring compressior.. Whats the most fun is using the cheap, whimpy spring tools that you have to use 2 or even 3 of.
You must be a SAE certified spring compressor tech.
You forgot when the TPMS fails and the customer just keeps putting air in because "it just must not have enough air to read"… I've seen 90psi in a passenger car tire. It's alarming and causes an immediate involuntary "back-off" response when your gauge goes full extension in a tenth of a second.
But you have nice tools
Not a fan of compressing springs. I mean I trust these wall mount units more than the diy home kit style but still. One of the techs I worked with had a buddy who had one of those fail (wall unit). Spring shot out the bottom, bounced off the concrete floor and caught him right in the giblets. Think he said it knocked him out, not something I wanted to experience.

You are not supposed to tighten the control arms without load, it causes premature wear on the bushes, ask me how I know!

It might be a bear to work on, but I'm impressed with the castings and the way it's machined. Maybe I'm missing something here, but what was wrong with all the parts you replaced? The only thing I saw that was screwed up was the wheel.
