In this video I hurry along as fast as I can while I fix a customers Buick LaCrosse. We are down to the wire at the end of the day and still have to knock out a 4 wheel brake job, 4 tire balance, a couple of wipers and a left rear bearing in under one and a half hours. Will it get done and done well?
-Enjoy!

It's got the big three. Sixth, it's the 2013. it's the Buick It's the Lacrosse and it's gonna be like reality. TV How so? well it's 3 20 p.m That'll answer me.
This work order car needs to be done by five. only. needs a four wheel brake job, two wiper blades, four tire balance, and a left rear bearing. What could go wrong? So the slave driver? oh, wouldn't that be a ton of talking in this video folks? Come on baby, We'll see.
We just kind of want to get after this and get it all done. Thank you, thank you. It's kind of a normal part of the day for us. to be honest with you folks, we're always running behind.
at least it seems that way. Oh my. God Foreign going on in those little guys. All right? Fall Apart Foreign thing here inside pad All Jacked Oh wow.
foreign. Thank you foreign folks. When you pull the bracket off from the pad, friction material falls off good. Ness So foreign real Handy General Motors Calpers was kind of rust straight there, easy.
Looks like she had some tension and or pressure, but how much? That's always the question about that much. Not too bad. Gotti We need to get this little guy to crack loose. Hopefully there's not much to put on here, so hopefully we can push very gingerly on a caliper bracket.
here. with my thought, if you ever do that, use your noodle. Don't go just wailing on this sucker because you can. They're cast.
You know you can break that pretty easily. Wow. Righty tighty fella. Righty tighty.
I Guess we'll probably get some candies. we'll touch this here. The bottom one here has more mass I Think if we stay low on it, we're going to be in pretty good shape because it's kind of on the fat part of that knuckle. Nope, Nothing but success.
Also, son I didn't want to fight you and we didn't I don't remember what this tool cost from Lyle It's your classic four zero one hundred. It's paid for itself multiple times over at this point because that's how it takes out bearings. That's a great tool I wish I would have thought of it. foreign.
Screw here Luber Up good. That's all I can. that's all I can tell you keep your shaft lubed. you'll be happy that wasn't hanging by the hose.
just FYI in case you were fixated on that starting to lose your mind. Oh wow. Foreign. Foreign.
Foreign. Thank you. Get it up here. Ride height.
That style bushing swivels anyways. not super critical that you have a hundred percent, but we're going to get it really close to ride height here. Thank you. 85 at 90 degrees it says we gotta hold this Still a new bolt Of course gonna be getting close.
There we go one day I Put until one 195 newton meters. Okay Brake Clean cam. Thank you Cam One hour mark folks. go wash your patties.
Thank you Oh my guy. Josh is a big salad sandblasted all of our brackets, new pads new uh Hardware Of course. So we're going to take the old Orange Black tight I'm gonna double check Thursday I think it said 74 foot-pounds plus 60 degrees. Uh, these are pretty small. faster these only 14 millimeter I am going to double check that spec though. There are two different brake systems to use on this car. I think this car is the J61 RPO code. All right, All right, a little extension Story of My Life boy I Don't know man.
another 60 degrees she's gonna be tiger tight. 111.9 Same on both. It's not hanging by the host folks. we're just lubing up the Piston face you see here.
20 foot pounds on these folks. There's that one. and there's that one. There's that one.
There's that one. Our boy Josh did these for us too. It's pretty awesome him to do that so you guys didn't get to see the process. You've watched the channel, you've seen it a million times.
Orange lactate on these. What's up though? Yeah. 20 minutes left. Girl: 23 minutes worth? Yes Ma'am Wow! You are tough today.
Oh dinner will be ready. Dinner is ready. Dinner is ready. It's not even five o'clock woman.
Well, some of us get all of our work done on time. Oh I See I See how you are I Remember that? no no, no I'm trying I'm just taking on you. But if we don't get it done in time, will we lose everything? It all hangs the balance of this job Squealer inside towards the top Leading Edge if you will I need to move this so we can get up in here and turkey. Real weird torque spec on these folks.
We're going 111. pound feet of torque. Uh, new bolts of course. Leave in the comment section when you find a GM dealer that actually stocks them.
You won't. you know why? Because when you go in for your GM Goodrich service, they ain't replacing them either to throw that out there. Except that one guy in the comments that says he does Now we're gonna go 45 degrees, get our torque wrench tuned up here. We're gonna go 45.
and then another 15 degrees additional. Past that, Yeah, because Vanessa some engineered got this all figured out with his torque to yield bolts and lots of going baby steps. So there we are. We're just fond.
service, dated, babe. We don't make up the rules, we just play by them. Don't hate the player Mrs L hate the game. Isn't that what they say I Don't know what that means.
It just seemed appropriate. But yeah, I'm a big rule follower. Are you kidding me? Oh really? yeah. You got something to add to that or acting like you got proof of something.
You can read the comments, read the comments. huh? Yeah. and we will swing this baby around town. What'd you make for dinner? Little girl? Your favorite.
My favorite. Not really. Oh oh, you're being sarcastic I Sure am something that's gonna give me some heartburn. probably.
No. I kept some Oh I I see Stefan Oh boy I'm a different wrench. So what? what'd you make? tacos? It's not even Tuesday it's Taco Thursday Oh let me put my beef. It's not enough beef.
They're venison. No benefits. but I kept some plain for you. You're such a good woman. Pins want to keep rolling on the sucker so we're gonna hold it. We're gonna torque them to 20 some odd foot pounds. Whatever they're supposed to be poured to get on nails. There we go.
Actually cracked sweatness though. You sweating? Yeah. I'm sweating. Oh you got backside I Can see.
Yeah nice. You like that out here? Yeah, you know women. they let their back sweat. So orange.
Black? yeah and orange. Orange? Yes, why orange and that gray? Because Orange has the strength of red releases like blue, not a sponsor. It holds really tight. Is that true to this? Uh yeah, that's what it is.
It's supposed to hold like red release like blue because usually red Loctite you have to have heat to release. It may cause allergic reactions. Yeah, it makes you allergic to work. that's what.
I know we kind of use them like I don't feel so good and I realize it's because I'm at work. How much time we got? are we still good? 13 minutes left. Which wheel bearing does it replace? left rear. Is that the one that was supposed to be done? I Have no idea I didn't say that's what it says in my sheet I Told the people you gave me a sheet and you're demanding speed.
it's over on my clipboard. You don't remember when you're in there like you better get it done or else it does not say oh, you put it on there last year oh when you get the estimate so strong it's not much I only put what Josh he told me I didn't look at this card Dustin well when you what are you doing it was bad. didn't check it looked older than the one on the right side. he's your employee There it is 217.
tiger type. That's what they should put in the manual. take your tank, take it tight. oh it's very tight you know Austin Powers Goldmember that's it.
What's that to do with a tiger? Because gold member says oh it's very die die like a diaper. Oh he does. yeah this is made of gold. You don't remember that movie.
Come on now I Remember, don't act like you ain't Never seen it wrote the whole thing there. You don't remember the lady's name. well the one girl in Austin Powers her name was Vanessa Cunningham Mrs Cunningham or no that was Oprah Oprah Cunningham but I think her real name was Vanessa I could be all right because she was uh disguised? yes and this guy is answering. yeah, there's some well-timed well spent watching movies like that and even better, the restoring space in your brain I Know making you able to quote it well I'm quoting what time is it taken I know.
Oh, we got lots of time. Do you wear better under pressure? No, you were worse under pressure. Well I worked faster under pressure. They're all tortable.
Son what? Yeah, yeah, Where you been? You ready? See? yeah? I didn't have to. This is what happens when management comes out in the shop. Oh my gosh. Full right at the max mark. Good guys. Make sure you do this on the General Motors after you rotate tires otherwise they won't display on dash correctly. Josh We put put a little air in that left rear All right. She's all done 72 and some chains there folks.
how do we make out? Well at the time? Three minutes to spare Josh is gonna drive it around. make sure the tires don't have any more shimmy or shaking breaking the brakes. We're out of here 501 I've been done for like three four minutes. We got the ground venison, the non-spicy stuff for me condiments.
It's like a little restaurant. It's like going to the to the Ponderosa Ponder Rosa you remember the Ponderosa yeah aka the kind of grossa. My sister worked there, you know? yeah and they made her wash the mold off the strawberries to serve. Oh wow I guess you've got horror stories work in the kitchen too.
So I worked in the kitchen? Oh yeah, oh yeah. I got something I Can't believe we even eat at the restaurant after that. I won't say who but I was in the kitchen of a place up on the west side of Keuka Lake When I worked there it was next to the water to the side if you know what I mean no on the front, it was on the front of the water, the water was in the front. yeah get it.
went quaint. that was where I was at and there was a cook there. okay the chef and it was super late and he was doing chicken wings and he put the chicken wings in. you know he chicken wings on the front.
you throw them in the bucket with the magic goo. Shake It Up This is the end of the night of like a super busy night so you know what the floor is like behind the line thick when you're shaking them up the lid blows off as like a white Cisco container and lots of the chicken wings went on the ground and then the chicken wing foot back in the bucket and then they got Shook Back Up and right on the plate and I'm like I'm just gonna pretend I didn't see that I was young boy I was 14 years old at the time doing the dishes and well what are you gonna do I needed my job yeah but I saw what he did I mean I know who he was too. some of that stuff that like people eat in the on the Hoarder show like they're probably okay I mean chicken wing on the greasy floor? yeah it doesn't really compare it to like you could at least put it back in the fryer for a second. but yeah I'm thinking I don't think it's red hot I'm gonna wash my patties missing though.
Wow you do a wonderful job. First, we appreciate you and we appreciate the customer that brought those today. Came in and said need a wheel alignment He brought gifts, he got a wheel alignment all right I'm hungry all right, So that's it for my guy Josh made it back we washed our panties. we gotta go eat lunch.
Uh, hundreds of comments down there right now wanting to know did I charge 1.4 hours? Whatever it was we had into it and the answer that is no A because I would go broke if I charged actual time on certain jobs like that. So we either charge by the hour depending on the job or hours calculated by a flat rate manual which is stated in our labor rate sign in our office per New York State law. So how does this job pay? Pays 1.3 hours to do the front pads and rotors. It plays 0.6 to do one rear rotor and 1.2 to do the other bearing which includes doing the rotors. So this job pays. Uh, see what? that 2.5 and 6 3.1 is the total hourly time that this job pays plus part. and that's that. And that's just the fact of life.
and uh, some people are always curious about that. So jobs like that where we're doing normal run-of-the-mill jobs wheel bearings, brakes, um, most most everything we bill on flat rate or bill by the job. The time it gets into hourly is for example. like if you're doing exhaust manifolds and you know it's super rotted and you know the bolts are all you know sheared off that we just charge by the hour you've got your hourly, your labor, or your flat rate labor plus your hourly on top of that.
Whatever it takes beyond beyond that. so hopefully that helps settle some of those questions. Uh, but that's just how the system works folks. I Want you guys to go down there and work that system in the comments section questions, comments, concerns you can see the Facebook we're not on Tick Tock don't even watch that guy in Tick Tock he's a loser and uh, just remember beers.
If I can do it, you can do it. Thanks for watching foreign.
How about the other girls name, in that movie? Alotta Vagina, I think? Lmfao😂😂
Eric, you’re worth every penny, because you do great work, but it does go to show you, if you really wanted to help someone out, and go balls to the wall, you really don’t have to charge probably, $600 for a bearing, and rotors, and pads. I get your point though. You’d go broke, if you helped everyone? Even ground down all the rust, on the caliper pistons👍Nice Job!
Keep your shaft lubed that what she said
Mrs, O is a great addition to the videos. Luv her!
I rarely eat out, I have seen what goes on in kitchens and worse I have seen what has gotten dropped on my loading dock, picked up and delivered to restaurants in my area. Yea nasty is a polite word.
did the rotors not have a coating that needed clean off before go?
Love the channel! I'm considering buying a Snap-On beep style torque wrench and maybe you can do a quick video on it. I might have to go flag down the Snap-On truck and take out a mortgage to buy one lol. Love your work man. Keep it up!
Amazing how that Buick is the exact same suspension and brakes as an Opel Insignia here in Ireland. I’m looking at that bearing thinking “ I’ve bet the crap outta them before “ 😂😂😂
Have worked at a place where you had to punch in and out at a project, am working on semi trailer mechanic
Eric…..I feel for you with the stomach problems. I have a fix for you. For years I carried a giant bottle of Tums around with me…..one of those huge bottles the size of a half gallon milk carton. They were supposed to last for months but they would only last me a few days. I munched on them constantly because of the chronic endless suffering from heart burn (reflux). At times, it would get so bad I was damn near in tears. My doc wanted to do surgery because I had almost destroyed my esophagus from the reflux of acids. Then they came up with some pills you could take before each meal to prevent it (I think it was called Tagamet) and they worked “OK” but I didn’t eat often enough to get the full benefit. Finally, they came out with Prilosec over the counter and I started taking one each morning with my coffee. That was at least 20 years ago and I have not had heart burn since. I can eat anything I want. Before I could not eat anything greasy or chocolate or dairy or anything spicy. Now I eat everything and the spicier and greasier the better. Better yet, ask your doctor about it and get a script and they will likely be free if you have decent insurance (I just discovered that about a year ago after buying it for a couple of decades). If insurance doesn’t cover it, you can buy it anywhere for about $15 for about 5-6 weeks worth. Prilosec changed my life. I sincerely hope you give it a try. It will take a few days for it to take full effect. If you miss a day, you will feel it but it won’t be nearly as bad as things are now for you. Plus, if you start to feel heartburn take a pill and it will stop pretty quickly. You just have to remember that it is a preventative thing and not really made for instant relief. No bad side affects either.
I hate when they rushing u. Chill!
You guys are the BEST! Thanks!
Good shop speed!
It's called beating the flat rate folks. It's how good mechanics have been making good money forever. I'm surprised anyone would even ask if he charged only 1.4 hours.
I don't agree that if you can do it i can do it. We don't have the same tools not skill set!!! You're da best! Love your channel.
Eric: I would suggest that in addition to safety glasses, you also consider ear protection when grinding/cleaning surfaces with air tools. That is good protection for your later years.
In the zone!
I can't imagine the amount of work you put into editing this video.
Right on Eric, please stay away from that f'ing Tiktok, I hate it!
Man I wish you were in Connecticut!!
I’m coming out of the military, and would kill for an apprenticeship or internship if I lived closer!
Good lord you need to take better care of yourself and clean all that brake dust off with brake cleaner before you start that’s what it’s for.
The amount of iron dust he must inhale means he'll never need Iron supplement pills in his entire life.
Love your videos. I have turned wrenches for 40+ years in Georgia. I don't know how you do it in NY with ALL that rust. I couldn't do it😃
Nascar pit crew is probably watching this and saying how ? 💪👍🤣😂
I can tell you that near me there is no one like Mr "O".
We really need a overnight lube and brake shop for the workin man and woman who need their vehicle for work.
Nice job! I’m doing same thing in my driveway this weekend. Est. Time? ( no torque wrench) maybe some cuss words
Excellent !!! Hello Mrs O !
Holy moly the disc screws came out
When it comes to YOUR quality of work and troubleshooting the hourly rate doesn't seem outrageous.
No words!
Great findings , never know what you're going to find so exciting
Nice work ! remember slow is fast and on target
Bro, I nearly fell asleep during the chicken wing story but the Mrs. paid close attention and never batted an eye! She's a gem!
I thought I accidentally reached a NASCAR race during a yellow.
Shai I
Said that I was going to be able to get a street
Quoting Austin Powers, love it. Did you see GM brought them all back together for a EV commercial 🤣
As a ex gm tech , he's right they don't change em.
I was trying to order bolts for the job , they looked at me like I'm crazy.
Thanks for making my day ☺
I hope This helps I don't know if I need to make a comment well done. explains it well. Everything you do 2 thumbs up😊
Thank you
DI said hurry up
Everything is a hammer, if used properly….
Ha!
do you use hearing protection? Sounds kind of noisey to me.
"If I can do it, you can do it." No, I really can't do what you can do.
Hmmm….the tiktok loser guy…does his name rhyme with snotty?😂😂😂
Do you prefer air impact over battery impact??
Never heard of orange loctite. I use a lot of blue and occasionally red. Thank you for asking the question 👍
I'm sorry your stomach doesn't like seasoning, Eric, especially with venison. It kind of needs it.
That pretty tight.
GETER DON ERIC! ;( Mrs. O GIVE HIM A LIVE SPANKING! YOU DO IT!
I SEEN ALOT OF ON THE JOB FLIRTING .. WHATS GOING ONN? IS THAT UR WOMEN.. OR SOMETHING CLOSE. LOL ISNT WORK GRAND….LOL
The lightning team
Do you get a lot of people that will ask for the old parts back because they do scrap metal themselves?
Please stop saying the word Loctite when you only use Permatex. Permatex is Chinese. Loctite is made in America.
Oh my God, Eric O donning safety equipment! Something happen whilst i was gone? You don't look like you have a glass eye…
Great to see you in an n95
The fact that you quoted Austin Powers, makes me love you guys. ❤
I can't say that I haven't blown up over some shop charges. I mean, I get the what's and why's of it all, but when you sit and watch someone do 20 minutes worth of work, and get the bill for 2 hours labor because "that's what the book says", it'll throw ya. You're paying for the person to 'know what they're doing', not 'what they're doing'.
It's 3:20 pm. I only need my house to get new carpet by 5.
I don't know how you rest about guys do it. I've seen less rust on the 35-year-old car on the Pacific Northwest.
good vid until the chatter resumed…
Hah and here i thought you were joking about orange Loctite- didn't know it was a thing until today. Going to check it out!
Ive had management come out in the shop before but they never look as good as Vanessa! You're a lucky man Mr O
The ONLY place I eat out is at home with my wife. Ain't none better
What brand of wheel bearings do you like?
Love mrs o when she guesses the fault , “another broken wire “. Hilarious
Being in the rust belt , I’m surprised you don’t break the bolts loose before impact them off. Many broken bolts doing that.
Always love seeing Mrs. O on the YouTube. You make a wonderful couple with the banter. I can't do spicy either or I'll get heartburn as well. Thanks for another great video.
Mrs. O looking lovely as always.
Yeah that was just asskicken.
Mrs. O!!
Braking your balls all day long!!
Don't dare let my uncle catch you using a scewdriver to pry with…he will chew your ass.
.
Another great video with lots of humor!! I used to sell auto parts in NW New York in the 80s. Wish I could have walked into your shop everyweek! It would have kept me laughing!
I really enjoyed watching you work like that. You're the man, bro! You and your lady are hella cute by the way 😉
Did a great job meep meep
A real pro that is what you are
The main thing, Eric, is that you do the job right! You don't cut corners. You do PM that other mechanics/techs would rarely do. You are a jam-up dude! You've also a winner in a woman like Mrs. O.
Awesome speed run!
I mentioned it quite a while back I was concerned about you cleaning brake areas without some kind of breathing protection…..and I can say I am so happy you are protecting your lungs with a mask……you want to live a long time for your family😊❤
Always replace your bolts on Lexus LS 430. And yes, they have them in stock and😂😂😂
Love the torque setting signal “click click”
The wizzy wheel and goat juice in the same video, the talent this man has, he's a phenom, the lengths that he goes to make sure the job is done right…Mrs "O"
My first job was at Ponderosa, 1986 . We had lots of fun
I really like the quick, concise, no-bullshit approach, yet with great camera work. I'm not such a huge fan of the banter near the end of the job, just because it's a bit distracting. It's too easy to screw up when being distracted and rushed. After the car rolls out the door, in my opinion, that's the best place for the fun and interaction, not to mention the nice meal. Just my opinion.
Another pro job done right. Thanks for the videos.
Allow myself to introduce…..myself. I'm Richie Cunningham, and this is my wife….Oprah.
pine hallow auto has tik tok ?
Shop calender coming soon
When youtube isn't paying the bills and Mrs O is scheduling the work 😂 👌🤙
Thanks for coming in today Fella 🤙
When talking time labor guide you forget to add the $1000's spent specialty tools, the expertise that comes from the years of experience of just looking at a situation and knowing which tools to use and the the $ spent for the lifts and air compressors to be able to meet or bet that race against the clock
Excellent video Eric! This is a big lesson for those mechanics that flat rate everything! Even though we're against the time we should still do a good quality job! Like you did! all we have to do is to put second gear to still do the job properly! Unfortunately, shop owners support bad quality in order to have the job done on time and they just see money! not customers retention! Good job Eric and thank you for sharing! Always learning from your videos!
Too bad you guys are too far away to maintenance my car. Good fast quality job are a rare thing these days and too many taking shortcuts.
Pushes the old brake fluid back into the system. Find yourselves a professional.
I don't get this who is owns this company who is in charge here,? What is she withholding firm you what if you don't get it done by 5 PM what leverage does she have? Is she going to fire you I highly doubt it so what is she holding over you?
Awesome. As always impressive work
Eric,
I am a retired CAT&CUMMINGS knuckle buster and was offered the opportunity to attend a BENDIX WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE SEMINAR. Which covered air and hydraulic brakes. The instructor emphasize two things #1 do not push old burnt ( brown )fluid backwards in the system as it can cause problems with proportioning valve and switches in the line!? #2 Never pump brakes to bleed the system and they emphasize especially disc brakes as pumping creates micro bubbles in the system!
I'm 99% with your brake procedures
Keep up the good work you give your customers and advise for the DIY ers!
Why care about hours charged when you get a quality job!
