You need to use some plumber’s soldering flux
3rd world mechanics are crying in the corner.
Should have crimped first to give it a good mechanical connection and then soldered to improve electrical connection. They also sell terminals that are made to have lugs connected instead of jury rigging it with ones that aren't made for the job.
Nobody else in your shop has a crimping tool that you could have borrowed?
After initially seeing the condition of those cables, thought maybe you might have to do a big 3 replacement. Looks like you got lucky. The corrosion didn't go that far back.

Love your content it's really enjoyable and iv always seen the Karen's in the comments complain abt something or the other in every video but never seen you do anything I thought was "wrong" but the way you did the soldering in this yeah that was wrong I do understand it will work but In my opinion there's going to be pockets between the solder and ring terminal and very quickly corrosion will start forming in those pockets and cause issues had you crimped it first and added solder it would have filled in more evenly but soldering then crimping would break the solder up and cause pockets I may be wrong though
I would have spread the wires open and soaked in a solution of Baking soda and water, because the corrosion has traveled back into the wires. Plus, each wire should have a single Terminal just barely big enough to get a Single Wire into. then Heat Shrink it.

Lead acid batteries only produce hydrogen gas when being charged; the reason they explode. I wouldn't recommend fire around a car battery regardless, but Ray was in no danger. If he was charging the battery at the same time, that would have been another story, but I'm sure he knew that after wrenching for 20 years. But I agree crimping after soldering seemed counter productive. A good (emphasis on good, not with vise grips) crimp is actually better than soldering because soldering can crack over time; best to do one or the other. Now make sure you overtightened the new clamps; the only way you know it's tightened enough is when the ends are smashed together.🙄 I think shrink wrap, along with zip ties and Velcro (and maybe brake cleaner) were gifts from aliens because they work too well to be invented by humans. Finally glad you stopped (or severely reduced) your use of the term mofo, as this is still technically a family channel.
I laid a trouble light next to a battery with the engine off and it blew, went up and put a big dent in hood. Also, my brother in law touched his metal watchband on the plus side and body to ground, the battery blew and blinded him for 2 days from the acid
I own a 2000 Danger Ranger with a 3 liter, and this video hits home. Have a problem with corrosion on battery. It’s fixed now but at least I can see how you fixed it.

Don't you ever consider the explosive factor of the battery? That would freak me out torching right over the top of a battery. What's your opinion on the subject? I guess you answered my question later in the vid. You're a scary man. Hope you stay safe.

This is just me, but I always put dielectric grease in the connection before I heat shrink it. This helps guard against corrosion, but I can't knock your technique. It was awesome to watch.
Dated a Girl some 30 years ago who's brother put in a new battery for her. He also stretched the terminals to where it wouldn't get tight. NO PROBLEM..He bent a penny and wedged it in between the terminal and the post, gouging the post and further ruining the clamps. Old Abe did the job proud.. 😀

With a much solder as you got in there, I don't think crimping was even necessary. In fact, that could have damage the solder.
Why did you not clean the terminal lugs after soldering them to bring them back
to how they were before soldering ?

if you are going to solder it hurts my brain when you do not use flux. ouch ouch ouch.
A quick way to prove a bad ground wire, anywhere on its course, is to clamp a test light to bat neg post without disconnecting it, put the other test light clamp to engine anywhere. So the test light is measuring current from ground to ground! Crank the starter and watch the light. If the light glows, you've proven voltage drop somewhere in the ground wire. From there you can walk back and do the same test over shorter segments to localize the problem area. More fun than guessing.

Battery gases can sometimes be explosive
What no Flukes on the copper for the solder to adhere to? Big mistake, down the road things will fall apart or corrosion will set in.
