Every time Ray puts a dab of silicon on the transition seam between the gasket surfaces, I hear "A little dab will do ya" in my head. It's programmed into my brain from the Brylcreem commercials way back in the 1960's. Yes, I'm that old.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Guy Franks says:

Hey Ray, I like your videos. I have been learning so much about more modern vehicles from you. Thank you. P.S. I also like your choice of classical music for your high speed segments. Guy Franks

I can’t believe the customer changed the oil before asking you to do the oil pan. What a waste.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joseph Erhardt says:

The one thing that would terrify me about all this disassembly is differing nuts and bolts sizes and where they go back to. Perhaps mechanics develop some kind of innate sixth sense about these things?

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John LaCroix says:

This video I liked it a lot ,keep up the great work. WOW very interesting 1st class very kool great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ again great

Love watching your videos daily, especially when you use technical speech such as noodle arms and duck-a- ducks. lol

But do you ever worry about the amount of aerosols you use and the impact on the environment they have especially when you have your own child?

The owner of this old truck must really love it, because this overhaul must cost a lot!!

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars T25 Slash 2 says:

I was beginning to wonder when that cleaning spray can was going to run out on you. See it used nearly every episode, that can had quite the volume of cleaner in it….

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Walter Mycroft says:

Wow, – Piano Sonata No 14 in C Sharp Minor "moonlight" Another Ludwig van Beethoven piece. Nice touch again
A little better than that phone ring.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mirko1891 says:

i would even watch your vids if you show EVERYTHING without lightspeed 😉

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Don Koltz says:

Adding an extension that long onto a torque wrench means it is no longer accurate REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (I love your videos)

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Greg Lambert says:

Very professional video with the exception of your annoying 3rd grade impersonations of the phone ringing which at that time I change channels.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Howard Severance says:

wow, its like working on a new truck , even the exhaust bolts are rust free.. my 05 silverado 2500hd at only 67k miles is nothing but a pile of rust ..(maine)

The thing that amazes me is that I have socks that are older than you. I really think you may have been a child prodigy! I'm mechanically inclined myself, but some of the stuff you come up with is downright genius!!

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars nigel perkins says:

being as the owner just changed his oil and filter couldnt the oil and filter be reused ?

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Hudick says:

I have a hard time believing that you guys use a chlorinated solvent spray in the open to clean parts. Those vapors are not healthy to breathe and yet everyone in the shop gets to breathe them when 1 person decides to use the stuff as a parts cleaner. 🤢

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Johnny Shell says:

I'm just gonna say those folks need to sell me that truck. It would look great next to my 05 Tahoe. I'm just kidding. I'd yank that engine and drop it in mine. She'd run like new again. lol 320000 miles and still going strong.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lawrence Eich says:

I have a truck identical to this one but it's 4 wheel drive the leak was from the oil cooler block off plate.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Don Goff says:

It's always so strange to me to see how little rust there is. Living here in Ohio, the Salt belt, everything is always thick with rust. I like the way you work, no-nonsense wrenching.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jamessmack says:

Why wouldn’t someone wait til it needed an oil change to do this work?

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Phil Maxwell says:

    Music–nice touch!

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars J. Hart says:

I love your background music on both #1 & #2 video, hope you have same kind on #3.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars PlayaOfGames says:

i am curious how do you keep track which bolt and all goes where lol

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Larry Ciarrocchi says:

2 or 4lb. test monofilament fishing line through the oil pan holes holds the gasket in place while installing the pan, heat from engine will melt the line and will not make the pan leak. Great idea for valve covers too. Been doing it for years on my vehicles.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Leo Rivera says:

Why did you not just use a drill to remove the rivets instead of risking gouging the pan surface. Shortcuts like this can lead to more repair time and cost at the end

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Wyatt says:

    ANOTHAAAAHH!!!!

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Wyatt says:

Hey Ray! I need to write you some music for the warp speed material.

Now that those seals are fixed the rear main seal is going to blow out like a mf.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Justin Hayward says:

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars twentymetricmiles says:

On an average day how many cans of brakeclean do you get through?

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars George Baker says:

I am curious. What in your background developed your philosophy of doing things right the first time and usually doing even more than the bare minimum to just get by?

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars fuck212 says:

These videos you come out with are very educational, i’m a mechanic myself, and i feel from watching your videos i’m learning even more about different components of different vehicles. Your doing an amazing job with the videos definitely keep up the good work, and your videos are appreciated by myself hopefully as well by others….👍😊

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars cujoedaman says:

Almost no rust and super clean underneath? They must keep that thing hermetically sealed somewhere and only take it out on days when the oxygen on Earth has disappeared.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Justin Owens says:

How do you keep track of those bolts and nuts? 😅

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bill smith says:

How many cans of the brake clean do you go through in a week?

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Diesel FIX'R says:

Moonlight sonata. Best song for washing pans. Legend.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Vose says:

I didn't realize that the LS (at least I assume it is an LS) Chevy engines are deep skirt like the older Ford (Y block, FE and MEL) engines were.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JW says:

I have a 2000 Silverado, 5.3. It leaks just a little at 148k miles. I hate leaks. I like how thorough you were, I do alot of work myself but for major work I bring it in. The only thing I do different is I can't trust a drill to tighten the bolts even tho I know it usually does a good job of it. If I don't torque, I like the feel of hand tightening (OCD). That said, can you come fix my oil leak,..you really did a nice job on that.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars A Mascia says:

I was wondering if you would change the sway bar bushings… 🖒🤠

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Proclaimor says:

Some of the reflexology is craziness in how they drew a map over the hands and feet and say, ‘massage here to treat the brain, here for the kidneys, etc.’ What I can say is that a good hand massage is awesome. I tell the massage therapist to focus on the hands and forearms and some actually do it. I like Powerade Zero for preventing cramps.
I read about the oil pickup tube o-ring so it was quite nice to see the job performed for if and when it is my turn to do this procedure in my driveway.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sman7290 says:

Did that yesterday. Replaced the water pump and the oil pan gasket in our 2006 Grand Caravan. I didn't replace the oil pickup o-ring though. I never took it loose.
How important is it to replace on a 3.3L v6?
