Watching the Snap On ratchets Ray uses. I think the red 1/4" is used for 10mm bolts and the green 3/8" for everything else.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Evan Kibbe says:

    That was somewhat easy 😊👍🌎🌞

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Don's Junkmail says:

    Thanks for the "dog show"

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Don's Junkmail says:

I saw the green flash… yep…light blue is much nicer…green on 115V blew my fingers back

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Hall says:

The only thing I can see that's disputable is leaving the oil cap off during the job. Stuff could have totally gotten into the oil 🛢 🙄 I still love your videos 📹 💯💯👍🤝

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daryl Morgan says:

Hahaaaa engine check light comes on if you put the writing backwards. Could be an Oil Cap short. Nice diagnosis too Ray

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Charles Savage says:

I automatically put my squint goggles on

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars eric cardinal says:

At least it was an easy fix. Getting to the sensors was super easy for you.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Glenn Porteous says:

Those rat infested vehicles should be declined and charged an idiot fee

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Buxton says:

Use the shop vacuum, don't blow turds all over creation

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MarvTV says:

    I. Love. This. Channel! (Yeah, I'm late with this, but what're you gonna do…)

Do stay safe, Ray. Use a vac for rodentia-related schtuff. I don't say it to sound smart. I say it because we like you.

And I really appreciate the humor as well as your quick diagnoses. Don't apologize for being familiar with an engine's typical issues. Any hack knows how good it feels to know what's going on before you delve into the problem.

The customer wants the car back ASAP, anyway, and it leaves you time for the ones that don't jump right out at you.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars George Rivera says:

I just did this to Mt Terrain. That code reader saved me 250 bucks 😁

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom Primeau says:

Your initial diagnosis is a great guess. Super common issue in these ecotech motors.

Really ray😂😂😂😂 check engine light for the oil cap thats hilarious

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Glenn Noll says:

No it won't sent off the check engine light

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Keith Fork says:

Your knowledge of common problems in numerous engines is impressive.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Thomas Beatty says:

Goodness Ray, seems as though you only get the dirtiest car to repair.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark D. Smith says:

You should write the ODB2 makers to add BAD OIL to their description!

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Marshall says:

What? You didn't replace the oil cap position sensor?

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars eric kestner says:

    The rat did it.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! Chuckwagon 524 says:

I think 2015 included the years those 4 cylinders had bad piston ring seals. Used oil heavily.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars The Quick Brown Fox says:

Ray as an astronaut. Houston we have a problem. The telemetry computer is showing a P00p10 code. It appears some quadripeds have stowed away in the engine bay. So yeah – we're gonna need you to do a spacewalk to clean off any rat poop and clear the codes.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bowhunters says:

Ray — the intake cam sensing valve switch had some oil running out of it when you pulled it out of the engine, that may be the oil that you saw on top of the engine.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Keith Woods says:

My daughters car did the same thing.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars L.D. Smith says:

I had a Saturn that had with a p0365, p0096, p0017 and one more code that I don't remember. Replaced the cam sensor to fix the problem. I work at t&g motorsports in Missouri.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars L.D. Smith says:

you should have grew up on a farm

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Allen says:

A related problem on these engines is the timing chain/tensioner/guide/guide bolt. The tensioner gets weak and creates slack in the chain. Chain slop rubs against the chain guide bolt on top at the front. The damaged bolt is stripped out of it's aluminum threaded hole and falls down into the oil pan. This throws the cam and crank sensors out of sync and sets a timing related code. You will usually know you have this problem when you see shiny bits of metal when you do your oil change or on the solenoid screen like the ones in this video. You can see the loose chain and damaged or missing bolt when you pull the valve cover off. When you do the timing chain job to replace all of these damaged parts, Dorman makes a special bolt to replace the damaged one. It threads into the access plug hole on the outer cover instead of the stripped hole on the inside. It still extends into the original hole for strength. The part number is 917-954. BTW I left the stripped out bolt in the oil pan. I figured what's it going to hurt down there. The option on my car would have been to remove the engine to get the oil pan off because of a cross member.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ptschafer says:

I had the same thing happen with the 2.4 in my fiancé's Pontiac G6. I bought two new Chinesium actuators off of Amazon for $18. Engine ran great for three years after that until we got rid of it.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John T says:

"Should have been an astronaut"! I leaned back when you blow gun cleaned the top of the intake manifold; didn't want to breath that carp! Second the shop vac and HEPA!

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Lincoln says:

My Equinox comes in next week.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Chandler says:

Solenoids typically run on 5 volts not 12

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Wolff says:

That REEEE! sucks with headphones man

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ChicagoMedic says:

Think I would've used a Shopvac instead of turning the mouse piss and poop into an aerosol.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JAR says:

Don't disturb rodent poop without getting it wet to keep the potential hantavirus from becoming airborne, which causes a deadly respiratory disease in humans.
Don't get murdered by a rat bro 👍✌🤣😳🇺🇸

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JeepGuy78 says:

Ya I did this repair on my parents equinox..

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars garycsfunlife says:

Okay I'll play I have to agree with you because trailblazers and envoys had that same little issue with the cam position sensor and I'm assuming that it would carry over to the equinox because engineers are lazy at heart and they use the same Parts over and over even the parts with known issues like with the cam position sensor is very sensitive to any sludge or carbon buildup that floats around in the oil it clogs that screen and bad things happen

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matthew Holzinger says:

Interesting… A plastic cover to cover another plastic cover 😂

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Jubara says:

Darn it Ray, you got me. Powered off my car today and said “beooooo”

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ernest says:

THAT SHOULD be discussed you don"t touch another mans vehicle without the ok

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kieva Storm says:

Here I am again, Ray. Just wanted to let you know in GM world we actually have a simpler component test you can do on those Solenoids. They're very easy to Ohm, and have a specification range of 8-13 ohms across both pins. Usually they fail high, around 16-24 I've usually found. But of course, these engines and their internal garbage. Broken balancer chains, jumping timing, burning oil, man it just never gets better.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars lacidy says:

Whoa! for a few seconds there I thought I might have clicked on a Louis Rossmann video where he is diagnosing a PPBUS_G3H problem!

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ralph says:

Always check the cabin air filter the mice can find their way into the duct system.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Raymond Jacobs says:

Ray you do good work, but I can't understand why you don't use a nut driver when removing hose clamps when doing so?

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Rey says:

why are you using a mini pry bar on a screw? thats wierd
