I've been waiting for almost a week for an intake boot that was repaired with tape. The part came in and I found that this 300,000 mile engine has more issues! If you missed part1, click here! https://youtu.be/xzOuRaKXcO8
Here comes part 3 where we dig in deep to find the rest of the engines problems! https://youtu.be/89YexHPNJVA

You had it upside down and backwards. No problemo. Everything else in the world is too.
You drive too fast in the parking lot. Almost ran over that guy…

Will it work with no duct tape? No. See… it needed the duct tape.
Itโs that 3.0 DOHC motor it always feels like itโs hitting on 4
Hay Ray this car has 300k thats about 11 times around the earth. It is 25,901 miles. Makes you think how small our planet is and how after you get that amount of miles just going to the store and around town. John

Good job a 3/8 or 1/4 inch battery operated ratchet blowgun some brake cleaner and you got her done.
I used jb plastic weld to mend cracked plastic on turbo intake pipe. 2 months so far so good. I used the black one that says it fills gaps, and after getting the spot filled, went around the whole piece with a thick band / ring of it. I suspect multiple vac leaks and this was probably the least impactful one, but will have to smoke test to be sure it held. It held lung pressure before reinstalling but can't duplicate 10 psi needed. Figured for 5 bucks it's worth a shot (versus $100+ for new part) and better than duct tape.
Yeah, that would be chubbrolet sitting on the dock of the bay, or waiting to arrive from mexico.
In my 05 Accord lx, when the cold air intake started ripping from age, my engine would bog down. If the rip opened too much the engine would stall. Im amazed that car started and ran with the cold air intake hose entirely gone
My ford is over 300000 as well.
Fox news is not news
Rainman is an excellent driver.
300,000 miles on a Ford…that was a good car at one time!
People are PIGS !
Gotta love that 'wait a minute' pause you had there. Could almost hear the mental gears grinding for a moment.
Why not cut some of that driving around footage and finish the vid??? We hate getting cut off.
If it's tight to fit use silicone grease. Why do American mechanics always a powered screwdriver? often it's quicker to use a normal one.
Since when do you Grease on intake parts get another job mechanic is just not working for you ๐๐๐๐
One error at a time, correct, ya can't trace other stuff, without proper intake air
Why are a bad running called MISS Fire, where is Mr. fire?
Ford escape has the worse ecu ever
I have a 2008 Ford Escape. Still under 100k miles.
putting 10 lbs of potatoes in a 5lb bag!
dorman products are junk, those so called chrome lug nuts arent even solid, the chome plated cover will tear off if you use a impact wrench
That's a really dumb air intake design. Go ferd!
No Right Turn on Red After Full Stop…
Duct tape seals air intake holes quite adequately applied in several layers; likely it is just a pos gm car, which has to have major work done to it to keep it alive.
Parts stuck on a boat….Let's go Brandon

I know the feeling Ray when you think you got the wrong part and then you realize that it is operator's error. Ha!
Should have put dielectric grease on both sides of the boot
that backfire/popping noise through the intake sure sounds like a valve problem!!
I got to say there's nothing I like more than watching other people work!
One thing I don't understand, after replacing that part why didn't you run an engine diagnosis rather than a test drive and then print out the results for the Customer?that's the way we do it in the Uk.
that was a user changeable part. they probably don't care that it runs like crap as long as the check engine light is off.
why are all the good youtube mechanics nowhere near me
Sounds like next step is a leakdown….or switch the coilpacks andctrsce the code one the misfire
I also have used dielectric grease on intake hoses.
Pcv valve?
yeah dude we are still waiting on parts and tools that were on sale like last month or more ago
and it really sucks because now places are running out of parts like brake rotors too
and if the parts guys cant get parts well wtf do you do
Ford escape n Mazda Tribute always same problem crap car.
Dielectric Grease
I put that sh*t on everything!
You do know that when you repair such a part the engine computer Needs to reset fuel measurement allocations it takes a number of miles to perform that recalculation/ calibration.
