Water on the back seat tloorboard? Reminds me of my LeSabre that would fill with water everytime it rained. Never found the leak. One of many reasons I'll never own another GM product.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Travers Johnson says:

Every Pontiac Bonneville I have encountered does not have the sunroof drains connected. I have a 1997 SEE and with the same water problem. When I go to the pick and pulls to find a decent head liner they all have the same problem.

    Another great video.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JD RS says:

Where I’m from, the cure for that problem (if the problem is water related) is to leave the car out in the hot South Texas Summer Sun with all doors open. That’ll take care of the dampness, and electrical problems.
For the mold, I’d stick the carpeting in a big tub of water, with Ariel detergent, wash it, and sun dry it.

I remember having to put brake lines on one of those it was a royal pain in the can but I got them all changed and used original OEM lines all stainless

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Marlin Young says:

Too bad they are all not that easy

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Thomas Cotter says:

Could ac evap be dripping water into cabin floor

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars camper tv says:

Can that module be sealed. I assume as there are no heat sinks, it doesnt get hot. A plastic bag perhaps,

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars camper tv says:

Give me points, condenser, and a car you can fix with vicegrips, screwdrivers and a hammer and Im a happy guy.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Caleb Buswell says:

huh. Your state fails for SRS codes. Interesting.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Famus Man says:

Hay eric, did u forget that u unhooked the battery??? That's why u couldn't move the passenger seat.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alan Nash says:

I worked at a Pontiac dealership in the 90’s. During new car prep we used to drill holes in the floor and in the trunk. That way customers would not have to bring their cars back for the water leaks.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars mike akridge says:

    Needs a simple sump pump.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Frank White says:

There's an easier fix for these oldies.
Take the instrument cluster out, locate SRS airbag warning bulb, pull bulb out, put cluster back in. Done. Inspection passed.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jim o says:

Had a grand am that had a spot on the fire wall that had plugged up with debris and let water flow into the cabin flowing over the ecm

    You're awesome man, thanks!

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars West Shore Auto Care Inc says:

Eric, Pennsylvania does not fail vehicles for safety inspection based on any warning lights on with one exception, the BRAKE warning light. If someone tells you an airbag or ABS light fails safety inspection, they are incorrect. I have been doing this since 1977 and I have heard this crap many times. Even the BRAKE warning light is not a failure as long as the only reason it's on is due to an ABS issue. Love the vids, John, owner, West Shore Auto Care, Inc.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Troy Kot says:

Bs I'm a nys cer inspector. Srs loke has no bearning on inspection

In my experience, SDMs etc. are almost always located in the direct centre of the car, in my case, under the centre console, and on a flat surface. I guess if you’re not getting any guidance on where to go from the manuals, perhaps start there.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Moon Moon says:

Huh, I would’ve thought the airbag sensor/computer module would be in the direct centre of the car. It is in mine and it makes sense being there – it’s also on a perfectly flat surface. But that may be because my car is also equipped with traction control, which needs accelerometer and gyroscope data and whatnot. I wonder if being in different locations affects how they work?

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pete Medina says:

    Nice find awesome fix

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Lund says:

But ware did all that water come from

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Lund says:

    Not fun

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Lund says:

    Or a leaky heater core

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MICHAEL DUKE says:

There's a reason they quit making them and went out of business.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Embermist69 says:

And another reason why I dont like Sunroofs, along with one blowing out one time….. No fun there…… Never did find it. Could have either shattered or was whole and someone took it for themselves…… Who knows…

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rich Sommers says:

I had a car do this (water retention) given the age of the vehicle my solution would be to just drill some holes in the rear floorboards and let it weep out. this worked for me for several years.
I used to say " a river runs through it".

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Chiodetti says:

Great Video! Lucky it was plug and play AND a clean plug in connector! Ever find the leak?

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars EAS MCMLXXII says:

My car had a right front turn signal that was always on. Dealership diagnosed the headlight assembly as faulty. I found the signal acquisition model that controlled the turn signals. I removed it and found it had corrosion just like this. I cleaned the board with isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry overnight. Reinstalled and the issue was resolved. This one may have been too far gone though.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars slowsanic says:

What scan tool did you use for this? A friend of mine has a Camaro with the obd2 connector that uses the obd1 computer

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Bell says:

You can stop the carpet from smelling, especially if you catch it fast, by getting under the carpet, shoving towels under there to get most of the water out, and then spraying bleach like Clorox Cleanup or something similar all under there. Then keep hitting it with lysol spray every day while it dries. I have also put my dehumidifier in there – remove a seat – and run it for several days. It's a PITA drying it out. Then you have to trace the leak.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ChayD says:

Why do car makers insist on putting electronics modules right where water is going to end up pooling when sunroof drains get blocked or door seals leak. Yeah, I know they're not supposed to have water down there but it's bound to happen as a vehicle gets older. P.S. Definitely gonna get me one of those Astro LED lights 🙂

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donnie Robertson says:

Great job as always a +

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stone Blue says:

That was dang interesting. Good to know for those of us driving older GM's that this could happen.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars carters2 says:

Those seats seem like they were barely bolted down. Seems safe.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Flanagan says:

Congrats on 100K. I like your style of shooting video. If you were in southern Ontario, I would bring my cars to you with no hesitation. I'm a backyard non-mechanic, who doesn't do a lot other than brakes when the weather is nice, since we have Toyota and Honda. 20 years ago my wife's Dodge was almost weekly. Its fun to see inside of things these days.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars klystron says:

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Al k says:

I worked at a Buick Pontiac gmc dealer in the 80 and 90s and We had a few of these on Bonneville’s and LeSabre’s actually blow all the airbags from water intrusion into the derm. The problem was a drain tube from the sunroof

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ozzstar's Cars says:

Glad I was wearing my hip boots while watching this one. I mean because of all the water inside the car not because of any deep BS. haha 😉 Good find, enjoyed the video man!

Hey Eric, congrats on 100k subscribers!! Did you ever get the job for the water intrusion? If so, where was the water coming in from? Would love to see you do a video on water intrusion some day. I enjoyed Ivan's series he had on his channel.
