Am I the only one who couldn't help laughing at the struggle to remove socket stuck on bolt of center Carrier bearing? I laugh because I've been there and on a bad day it'll make you lose your religion! Lmao

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Markomyt1 says:

Wow, did you get choked up there at the end?
I thought you were going to drop that driveshaft right on the 'ol Nards.
    Glad you're OK!
That new hub was so pretty!

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matthew Sykes says:

Boss complains it's taking too long, okay chucklehead you do it faster, boss quickly hides in office…. sounds about right. Great video's Ray, I knew I should have gone mechanical school instead of electrical pixie wrangling, looks way more fun.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Chambers says:

I literally cried laughing at your fight with your socket on the carrier, can't say as though I haven't had that very same struggle but watching you do it for some reason was absolutely hilarious. Kinda thought you were going to loose that fight for a moment there. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mister Mxyzptlk says:

Some home-repair non-mechanic guys go to the expense to buy new bolts to avoid reusing rusty ones. Or wire-wheel the heck out of them if we cannot find replacements. …………………We also go to the trouble to use a tap to clean out rusty threads back to "like new." Finally, we use either blue loctite or antiseize – whichever is appropriate. ……….We back-yarders have that luxury of coins and time because we are not in a production environment like you are in.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brian M says:

What is the red can spray cleaner that Ray uses a lot?

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars prototype9000 says:

A breaker bar and wiggle that socket bavk and forth it will come right off

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jorge fernandez says:

If I was your boss, 2% deficiency means you are running at 98%. I would have no problems with you considering that you know what you are doing and are doing a great job. I would concentrate on the wheel chocks with wrenches that can't get above 50% with both hands . Keep up the great work. Have a too dee doo great day!

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert B says:

I’ve had problems with sockets sticking too

Unscrew slightly and retighten seems to work

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pookahlakatribe says:

Usually the socket will come unstuck if you put your impact gun in reverse just a little

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dual King says:

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 2H80vids says:

Would this not have been easier with the car in the air? The extra height would perhaps give shaft gravity an advantage but would it not be easier/more comfortable than lying on your back?

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bob Carrigan says:

I'm not a mechanic, but I'm wondering how many bolts on a car have torque specs.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Me says:

    Supportive comment here

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ElysiumNZ says:

When the phone rings all the mechanics should all do the dododo at the same time.

Greg from northern Michigan. Is your 'tetanus shot' up to date? Don't want you to get 'lock jaw' working around all of this rusty steel. Then we would hear you say … Doo Da Doo Da Druel ! Great channel and content !

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheBlueberrys Workbench says:

I would make UK videos like this but the time spent editing the multipe obscenities and very personal comments regarding "car designer's inability to design!" would use way too many minutes of my valuable time!
All auto designer's should spend at least two years "on the tools" before being allowed any time designing!
    UK Pete.

Nice job. Here in Rural NY we do not need thread locker. The state supplies ample supplies of salt water which works much better than any Permatex product.

Fighting 7.9% inflation (more like 15%) with a 1% Fed funds interest rate is like stopping a forest fire with a bucket of water. Folks prepare accordingly. Make investment in other not to depend on the government for funds.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daryl Morgan says:

Sometimes it takes longer to remove the socket than to do the job. Pains in the Ar.. when they do that lol, Mighty fine job though Ray

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nitrodr1 says:

That whole mounting area for the carrier bearing looked as if it were going to break off as you tried to get your socket off! Nuthin like good ol' rust to chowder a truck away!

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars uenragedbro says:

Idk if you indexed that driveshaft with marks before touching it, I'll just assume you did. 😐
