In this video I show you a mini jump starter that was given to me to use by my sales man. I honestly didn't think it would work but I was surprised to say the least. Nano Lithium batteries in these min jumpers really seem to do the job ๐Ÿ™‚

I bought one like that few years ago. First car battery i jumped fried it. Never worked again. So I am impressed.

I actually bought one of these things a couple years ago based on this video. It was the same brand but a different model, but more or less the same. I only needed it once so far but it did the job. I've been thinking of getting a more powerful one to carry around with me on the job. These little things have come a long way in recent years. I'm really looking at the NOCO branded ones. They seem to have great reviews but can get pricey.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Burkart says:

Eric, it's now much later. So how long did the jump pack last and can you recommend a decent battery charger that is built to last?

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars print man says:

    did you ever buy one???

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ronald Johnson says:

This technology HAS come a long way, but it's not a "battery" pack. It's a capacitor pack with controlled capacitive discharge. Never take one apart, that charge can severely harm you.

Eric Obiestoski: Ya'll have done sold this old hillbilly. Rockford pocket power. I can remember last year being stuck in a truck stop with a dead battery in my fairly new car. Almost missed a Dr appointment. Goodun my friend.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kyfer Ez says:

Tell me if it will jump a 5.7L Hemi with completely dead battery – no electrical clicking at all.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ghhtrainmaster says:

Not the same brand but I have two..One in each car. Only charge them once a year just to be doing it..

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MeMakeSparks says:

Best review…. EVER!! Most reviews are done by people that are being paid by the manufacturer to push they're product. Your sarcastic scepticism is a riot! But at the end when you turned into a giddy little boy was pure honesty. More reviews 'unsponsored' please! Thanks E.O.!!

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ozzy Krahn says:

ok im going to have to buy one now

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hawk 1966 says:

I got a Craftsman (I think that's the brand, I know it's a name brand) jump pack to review a few years ago. Charged a couple phones, ran my laptop then I tossed it in the car and forgot about it (it's about 3/4s the size of this one) until I went out to go somewhere and woops, didn't close the hatchback fully and battery is stone dead. Pull out the jump pack (my battery charger is circa 1980 and really scary!) It's at 60% hoping that's enough and Vroom car starts. Get to Advance who assured me on the phone they had a battery for my heap, they didn't. Little pack fired the car up again and I went across the street to O'Reilly's, they had a battery.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brian Landry says:

Bought one for my boat, because of the size, radio or down rigger kills the start battery, gets u back to the shore.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Robertson says:

    Made in China?

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars WisdomVendor1 says:

I dealt with those units before and they are quite impressive, but every single one of their output ratings is somewhat exaggerated.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andrew Phillips says:

these r junk, used it twice in two years and now won't hold a charge. don't waste your money

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars etyrnal says:

" so let's hook it up the right way…". Immediately procedes to hook up the negative cable first

    LOL

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars etyrnal says:

This one is a completely different concept than the one that Scotty Kilmer did a review on. The one that Scotty Kilmer did a review on is a super capacitor and it can be charged from the dead battery itself. Let's say your battery is down to 6vdc. The one Scotty comer reviewed uses that 6vdc, steps the voltage up to car battery voltage and fills up the supercapacitors with car battery voltage, for a few minutes, and then uses the charged super capacitors to start the car. It can actually use a dead battery to charge the unit, and then start the car. You don't have to keep it charged.

Is this still a recommended buy? Looking for a new jump box. Our big NAPA roll around failed on us.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars w2dmw says:

On BTW, Rick, with that hat, you look like the character in the "Moon Mullins" comic strip…

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rick Galvez says:

Anyone know the warranty for this exact product? Rockford Consumer Product.
    My unit died…

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jussi Kuusela says:

18 months ago I got myself a rather bulky jump starter pack, which claimed to produce 600 CCA and 900 peak A. Based on SLA, has rather thick jump leads, and it worked fine for me. I still have it but haven't had my car battery go flat on me after the few times I got to use it. I have jump started a couple other people's cars with it though. Been replenishing the charge every 3 months or so as advised in the instructions. It has two cig lighter sockets, USB, and work light, reverse polarity indicator. 15V 800mA home charger, and a cig lighter charger which I haven't tried. It cost me 70 EUR, about as much as the battery I got for my car later.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jack Patteeuw says:

This product is no longer available. Got a more recent recommendation ?

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Ouellette says:

I have the Noco Genius Boost GB70. Will start a 6L truck with no battery in -30ยฐC…what more can a guy ask for!

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Porterfield says:

Eric you are awesome hey my brother it is trial and error

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Mcgraw says:

I keep one in the tool bag on my old Harley. Never had to use it on the Harley. I do jump many cars with it and get Eric Oโ€™s response every time.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kntryhart says:

LOL..eats crow! I have another brand, but it works well. Its in the car; I check the charge one or twice a year…always full.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gary Stewart says:

I have had mine for 3 years, I have jump started about 7 people stranded in gas stations or parking lots with mine. I liked it so much I bought one for my wife to keep in her car, very easy for her to use, without the possibility of connecting it wrong, she has used it once after leaving her lights on while at work. Delivers a strong performance in a small package….like me ๐Ÿ˜‰

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andrew Villanueva says:

Most just starter 40.00 to 80.00. On Ebay.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andrew Villanueva says:

I have 2 of them. One in each car. Make sure you buy the one can jump start 8 cylinder engine. Some other jump start 6 cylinder and 4 cylinder.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ralph Bourne says:

I have a Snap-on one. They are really good

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tihzho says:

I was waiting for you to go and hook it up to the entire shop!

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Johnny Gilbert says:

Thanks, Eric, I been looking at your shows for almost a year I live in South Carolina and wanted to have my own shop someday but even after my injury in the military I still drive tank truck and work on cars in my spare time I just love the way you get into the troubleshooting to find what is the cause of each problem you face thanks once again for giving me a skill that makes me feel like I can find any problem in any situation keep up the good work. Your new best fan Johnny G.
PS: I must ask can I get the part number for that jumpstart kit

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics says:

Well, the Rockford Pocket Power is no longer available on Amazon. Too bad. You still use yours Eric?

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andrew Jackson says:

Capacitors are better than batteries thats what that starter pack uses

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Vet says:

bought a power booster at Walmart, it went the way of the doe doe bird after three years, it was always dying:
    I'm still wondering,
those were 3 & 4 bangers, I had mine for big blocks.,, got any 400 cubes round about to plug that mighty man booster to.
    just wondering…โ€ฆโ€ฆ..

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Famus Man says:

"Here's our victim". That was great love it

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Winter says:

Interesting to go back in time and see something I've had for years. Got a generic version in each vehicle and they're great. Pretty soon they'll just be the size of a 9volt and will run your electric vehicle a couple of miles to the charger. Lol

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Noah Eldridge says:

I had a big and heavy booster pack, and when it failed the SLA battery cost more than one of these lithium ones. Noco GB20.

It works. Loses CCA in cold weather. Charges USB stuff. Similar light modes.

Glad it was on sale, but it does work.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Good bye! says:

So after 4 years how goes it?

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andre Williams says:

Can it jump a semi truck? I heard it could but haven't confirmed it

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Larry Ehrlich says:

Project Farm did a great video on 8 different jump starters…it's a must see if you are looking for one of these units. On YouTube lookup "Which car jump starter is best?".
Or go to Project Farm…this guy does very in depth producr reviews

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Huntereich says:

I funded the "Juno Power" jump starter on Kickstarter years ago and it seems similar to this. Higher quality maybe, and it's 20,000mah with all the outputs and an AC dock. Couldn't be happier with it. I jump people with it all the time, so much more convenient than cables. I don't leave home without it in the car.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars welshwizard822 says:

20 jump starts but only 4 phone charges, that leaves me thinking……. But it did work!

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robb O says:

My wife got me 1 for Christmas a few years ago. I looked at it and giggled. Then I bought a few auction cars for our car lot with dead batteries. I pulled the little giggle box out of my truck. It started every single car. It's actually started every single car I've ever used it on. Needless to say we now have 3 of them on the lot. The Noco brand are my favorites because of the serious jumper cables they come with. Great video ๐Ÿ™‚

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike TeeVeeDub says:

This was the video that introduced me to Eric's channel! Bought me a lithium battery-powered jumper after seeing this video. Absolutely one of the best investments you should have for your car. It saved me on multiple occasions. Thanks for the video Eric!

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Harn says:

That wouldnโ€™t be Pete, the ding dong from Walmart?!

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andrew Bailey says:

Need to get one. I have jumper cables but u need another car for it. Need one.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jay Brooks says:

There are drawbacks to non lead acid or gel batteries. Lithium batteries lose charge at a rate of 5-10% per 30 day period. So in a shop or store where you can potentially keep it plugged in it would be a decent device.

Cons: lithium is energy dense. (Average energy density 2.5โ€x3โ€x2/8โ€ will give you about 3500mha at 3.7vdc) dropping a lithium battery on the ground can expose, pinch, short a cell. Which will possibly cause a runaway reaction. Lots of fire and smoke and you cannot put it out with water or by removing oxygen.

Positive points. Smaller, lighter more convenient.

Now the boost button.. why would they not want you to use it? Simple. Charging lithium requires a smart charge controller. If the lithium batteries get to hot crystals will form and short the battery. So the charge controller will not allow the voltage to dip below the 19volt power range. Because that will likely mean the cell is compromised and charge will discontinue. Boost likely bypasses the charge controller and gives you direct power to the cells. So donโ€™t use it unless you are stranded.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Elwood Noble says:

Took a brave day and changed your hat! Lol! Looks good for you! Mini start looks cute!
