Have you tried PB Blaster?
I used to own a 2011 Santa fe. traded it in with ~90,000 miles on it, over the years I replaced the rear brakes 3 times, fronts 2 times, broke a front spring and replace a lower ball joint on the passenger side, never touched the 3.5 liter v6 other than Amsoil changes every year.
Funny how I enjoy watching you work on crusty cars yet I don't like it at all. I must be weird. 😄

Penetrating fluids do not work! Fact. Just look at the science behind rusted bolts.
My bearing bolts didn't move a bit. I need to remove a knuckle.
The ball joint is frozen dead too though. I'm going to remove the knuckle with the lower control arm. I can't figure out how to push the ball pin from the knuckle on the car 🙁
Why you install the old bearing?
I’m watching all of Mr.O’s videos. And I have to say sometimes the work can be a bit complex. But regardless working on cars at least to me is always fun. No matter the complexity of the work involved.
Growing up in Michigan and working on cars before I graduated high school is the reason I went to school for aircraft mechanic. High performance and no rust. Then I found out it doesn't pay worth a darn!
I'm an aircraft mechanic and the only thing we used was kroil. Let me tell you aircraft have Avoca NY levels of corrosion. Kroil sucks as a penetrating oil. Aileron pca bolts are seized in the rod ends 100% of the time, rudder bolts, you name it. None work well, but kroil charges double for essentially the same result. Nothing. However, big ass hammer or rivet gun is 100% effective
penetrating fluid doesn't work just like rubbing icy hot on your skin does nothing for sore muscles.

Native Upstate New Yorker (Utica) but have lived in Florida and NC since 1993. Usually never have to deal with all the rust. DYI'er in my driveway is hard enough on my back let alone dealing with all that rust. Great job, I wish it was less of a hassle for you, but maybe you like the challenge!

Hello. I am doing my 2009 santa fe brakes rotors all around. Started on front today. Curious why, as you mentioned it, there is a rubber sleeve on only one of the guide pins.

the price is often based on the number of pressing fails the more complicated the oressing ie the more folds the more fails

Why in the world are you putting genuine OEM parts on that crust bucket!?
If you’re using loctite, wouldn’t it be ok to go on the low side of the torque value? Also you could likely have put antisneeze on the shaft and loctite on the threads and once it’s through and torqued, put more Claritin on the end of the bolt that protrudes
I’m not an expert but I think that opening on the dust shield is because the bolt ear on the hub happens to line up with that area for the brake calliper where it’s cut at an angle right by the ear (otherwise they would just go out further like the other three…) unless that is actually to give it somewhere to recess down to when spinning it, I wasn’t paying attention
“Corrosion block” by Lear or whatever it is would work for that, issue is it’s so expensive and takes so long to soak and you need to literally douse things, AND you can’t have any other oils or grease present (clean thoroughly prior) and I don’t even think heat helps it/heat reduces it’s ability to work (warm is ok though), so with all of that, yes it’s technically the best, but at what cost (besides $17 something plus tax), but in all honesty, if you have time and means, and a broken bolt or broken back means the end of the world to you, it’s a life saver, just try to avoid getting the addict’s rush when it works so well on that one perfect match to it’s strengths that makes you waste it on everything, it’s an emergency penetration fluid and only that, keep cheaper stuff on hand also, that being said, for an actual project or restoration, it’s great to just soak every fastener you can reach, both on the thread side and the head to surface side (and shaft areas if not the threads and if accessible) and let it all sit for a day, and reapply to everything each day following and right before undoing things

Mr. O. I recently bought a 2012 Santa Fe AWD with the 3.5 V6 and only 17,780 miles. This thing is mint. I'll be switching the engine oil, transfer case lube, and rear diff lube over to Mobil 1 synthetic. Any major issues I should be aware of?

Gosh, 4 tires, 4 wheel brake job, bearings, oil, windshield HAD to total that thing.
not that i would ever tell eric how to do it but i would have hit those threads with a wire brush on a grinder first, clear all that corrosion out of the threads first, then oil.

I feel your pain and frustration with rust. We have it all to well here in Michigan as well.
The thing that annoyed me is that every time you used that tech angle you over torqued everything….stop on green….red, blinking and vibration means it is over torqued.

If dust shields are useful why do they only have them fitted to the rear of the disc and not the front too? All they do is (a) Rust and (B) promote rust to the rear side of he disc.
Why not lube up the piston a bit while you are in there poking around? I did new rotors, calipers, and lubed pins etc. on my car, and it still created excessive heat while driving. I had to take it all apart again, lube up the piston, and boy that did the trick. Now I am a firm believer that pistons needs lubed up too. I used Castrol red rubber grease for that, it is a sexy grease for sure.
I'm a little sad and surprised you didn't flush the brake fluid on this 4 wheel brake job. I'm sure those stuck pins would have resulted in cooked fluid at some of the corners.
Eric where do you get Kroil from?
i some parts of the world they use salt in the winter which is bad for cars.. but in this area, they must be using acid…would help if People would wash their cars more often

Kroil is the best of the bunch IMO. It doesn't perform miracles though.
What is the backing plate for
Instead of using your finger or the brush for the silicone grease, you can use a popsicle stick to spread the grease, then toss it out to avoid cross-contamination. You can get a 100-pack at Dollar Tree. Or save them after your kids have ice cream or popsicles.
