I had a problem on my vibe, was blowing the 40 Amp fuse for the blower motor I thought it was the blower motor, but turns out the ac filter which in on top of the blower, neve had changed it was air flow restricted making the blower pull more amps, and blow the fuse, hope this helps some one out there. My friends DIY'S

Thank you kindly for this video. It gave me the confidence to saved myself considerable money, after being told by local garages that they wouldn't install customer supplied parts. Instead they quoted me a blower for almost twice what I had already already paid for the same model, from Rock Auto.

This video just saved me $200. My mechanic quoted me $250 to replace the motor. I bought one online for $50 and installed it in less than 20 minutes following the instructions in this video. I am not a mechanic or gear head by any stretch of the imagination. The only hard part was reaching in to unscrew the 3 hex head screws to release the old motor and mount the new ones. I didn't have a 5.5mm socket, so I used 7/32in and it worked. Thank you!!!

Any recommendation for an intermittent fan control problem where off and full on always work, but the low and med speed come in and out?

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Camp says:

I have replaced the resistor on my fan. The fan will not turn off. It's not the controls. Any thoughts

Heard the Vibe has a different blower motor, than the Matrix, vibe is prone more to failure… I've heard

    Thanks for the video.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Jeffers says:

Can you tell me where is the Factory Air Relay located in the 2004 Vibe?

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nikita Nugent says:

Thanks, this made the job real easy. When I've removed my glove compartment I don't bother removing the screw for the damper. the other end of the damper pops off of its mounting point pretty easily, and isn't bad to reinstall, either. So that can save you a whopping 20 seconds.

Of course it figures that I cleaned my throttle body at the same time, and then had a heart attack when the engine refused to start. Of course the ECU was throwing a dozen unrelated codes about various circuits being open, as one of the plugs going into the ECU had come unseated when I moved it out of the way to get to the blower motor. D'oh!

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars KJ49508 says:

thank you fir the video, my blower for my vibe should be here tomorrow, i will use this video to do it myself. save me the headache. since winter decided to return to michigan. its very cold in the car. now two questions, i'm sure they have been answered already but do i have to disconnect my battery? and doing this will not set off the airbag will it if the battey does not need to be unhooked.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kirbyyasha says:

Just a heads up for any folks looking to go to the salvage yard to save money. The Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe have different blower motors. I found that out the hard way, but ended up using the brushes to rebuild the broken Pontiac blower motor from a Toyota Matrix.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sloeJAKE says:

Thanks for the video. Yours was one of the clearest I saw on the process. Able to replace mine and save some money.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars joshua klingensmith says:

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Brooks says:

Hey, I normally don't comment but this one rated it. First of all concise and to the point. While I could figure it out, this saved a bunch of time and was spot on. Second, my fan motor AND resistor failed BUT I also had the cracked fan like yours. This seems to be a common fault on these units. Third, I found the parts on Amazon for 70 buck for BOTH parts!! Finally, I liked your honesty with your customer! GREAT Work!!
