I will never understand the logic of people who refuse to pay a diagnostic fee but will spend up to $500 on unnecessary parts trying to find a problem. See it all of the damn time

With the knowledge of "just cuz it's new doesn't mean it's good" wouldn't you want to leave the smoke tester on and see the vent working properly once it was installed?

Just spent a bunch of money replacing the coolant level sensor and it’s doing exactly like the first. This video may seem unrelated but it makes me feel that maybe taking it back for another sensor isn’t a waste of time.

It's funny how customers or the service people who accept the repair request think we car mechanics can fix problems fast every time in 10 minutes and everything is fine. They don't mind that often a diagnostic process is needed to make sure we find the faulty part AND what caused the fault,so we make sure it's not happening again. But no one has time,everyone is in hurry and if the failure comes back the mechanic is the dumbass 🙄

As someone who owns a 2002 Suburban… the evap code has been on too long. Been checked many times, had the purge replaced, and even changed fuel cap. Nothing. I hate evap leaks.
Couldnt you have checked live data in order to help diagnose the problem? It helps to have a code but live data can tell you alot too 🤔 not questioning your methods cuz they seem to work 😅 just wondering
Sounds close to the problem I had. But it was just a bad purge valve.

i have the same issue with my 02 trailblazer ext the check engine light only comes on when the tank is under 1/3 full

Bad new parts are not uncommon, even though it's a small part I bought a brand new 30 Amp Fuze holder and it was defective so I understand what you are dealing with on that valve
Yeah let’s erase the codes, typical idiot that loves erasing codes thinking it will “solve the problem” just to get the “annoying light” away.

Those "new" parts you buy might not be new. It is possible that some one bought a part then cleaned their old one to look new put it in the box and returned it to be sold to someone else.

Amazon parts. “Roll the dice” your words. I’m about 7/10 on “new parts” from the inter web. You have preferred suppliers for your replacement parts and can match the grade of parts to the requirements, and identify parts to stay away from.
My mechanic helps me by recommending replacements.

What surprises me is that you can bring your own chinese imitation parts to the shop and let you guys put it in. If I bring my car to a shop here with my own parts with it they will not put them in, they only put in parts they sell themself.
Most good mechanics would check the gas cap is tight . Duh
Tell him cuz he reset it you will need to drive it for a few days till all the sensors cycle to.see if the light comes back on
As an apprentice mechanic…your channel is a god send. The shop I'm at likes to leave me to the wolves. They check. My work, but I'm on my own until I get stumped. Thanks to you. I rarely get stumped anymore…usually cuz I just don't have all the tools yet
Years back, I had a Bronco 2 that I replaced 3 water pumps in a week from PepBoys.
That was a hard lesson in, "because it's new doesn't mean it works".
If only you knew about fuel vapor systems making all this sbs obsolete
And not what you were just working on, actual systems outlawed in 80s or whatever, 200 mpg w no mods, all day long

also known fact its illegal for any parts store to erase engine light codes
that is exactly why some guys like Louis Rossman doing circult board repairs do not like when other shops clean the boards before they get to him because different stuff on the board (other than his own experience/knowledge) can help pinpoint the issue faster … when different stuff is cleaned off … it takes more time to troubleshoot
