Don't know how I missed this one… a true epic odyssey! Now I own a used Odyssey… good to know this is doable for DIY. Thanks Eric.

Thanks for this video. I have one of those in the shop now for a customer. I am going to turn down this job after seeing all the time and headache involved. I hate interior work anyways. Always plastic pieces breaking or cracking.

    looks good eric o

Luckily, I just needed to change the roller only. But now after opening and closing the door 2x, the Power door lights get triggered and it stops working. I pull out the fuse and reset it but it keeps happening again. 😣

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars M K says:

This is quite the undertaking for a diyer 😰

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ronald Johnson says:

Sooo much plastic! A few more years and it will be so brittle it will crack. And, it's guesswork where the clips are. Having to disassemble 1/4 of the car is insanity.

Hi Sir, My honda 2018 Odyssey sliding door doesn't work (can't even manually open / electric doesn't work as well on the left side only). I went to Honda dealer shop and they charge me 2 hours for diagnosis fee, and then they call me they will need more hours again to diagnose (hourly rate = 125$CAD). I'm just wondering is this normal to take this ?

Thank you for such a well done production. I need to replace the door control module. I saw it on the video, will do it in the morning. Just needed to find out where the plastic pins are and how to get to them. Tried a short cut today, but wasn't able to get the panel with the vertical flip cover door off. Doesn't look like I'd have had enough room to make that work.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars fiddlerpin says:

Man if my motor ever goes you better believe that door will become a manual shut one!

Enjoyed the video. I have a 2013 and I think the cable tensioner is different, but I can research that if and when the time comes (hope it never does) haha.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Karl VS says:

Hey, how did you (or "The Algorithm"?) know that I literally just bought a 2010 Ody with this exact same situation?? Thanks to your usual super-duper, complete, and family-friendly manner of presentation, I no longer fear the prospect of taking on this otherwise daunting repair – and as you say "If he can do it, I can do it"!!

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jack Anderson says:

Awesome you make it look so easy what a talented mechanic, wish I lived closer I'd just bring my vehicals to your shop, your joking comments make watching your videos fun on top of educational. Thanks and keep up the good work

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Karen Phillips says:

Eric, how do you keep track of all the screws and hardware to know what goes where for re-assembly? Is this all by memory, or do you take notes?

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Johnny Sechrist says:

While working inside a truck or van I kept my tools in the top of an old plastic cake carrier.

Mainly I learned what I already knew: I don't want power sliding doors, it's just something else to go wrong. I can close the damned door myself.

This was a great video. I had a 2003 honda odyssey with 202000 miles with the same problem. I also cut the cables. I had 4 kids with no way other than having them climb over the front seats or go through the back tailgate. I wish that someone would have made a video that was as good as this one. I am now a subscriber.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MrJCM Junior says:

👏👏👏👏Driver's side about the same but you have the spare tire on that side instead of the rear A/C

Hi Eric, I ran into 2 issues, just wonder if you have any answers for me. Great video by the way; made the job really easy for me! The first issue I had was the 2 cables were about 3 inches short to fit into the old hinge roller. I did have the 2 white clips on the motor in the up position. Is there a way to extend them a little more? The 2nd issue I had was; I bought a new hinge roller for the door, I removed the bracket from the door with the old roller, removed the clip, but no matter how I tried to removed the pin from the part, I couldn't; I suspect that the sleeve on the pin is logged and rusted onto the pin, any suggestions? I may have to buy a new bracket to attach to the door. Thanks and I await your responses

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Bandy says:

New fill door switch and back running, couldn't have done it without Eric and a set of plastic pry tools. Thanks Much!
