I made the rookie mistake of moving the power seat in an older car. NEVER EVER DO this on a customers car! Murphy's law always seems to sneak up and bite me when I do. Just like rolling down the power window. Oh and this only ever happens when you are really, really busy too 🙄-Enjoy!

    Good call👍

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Ripperger says:

So how do you pull in a car with a customer who is alot taller then you I messed my knees up pulling a car whose owner was over seven Feet tall and I'm 5 6 it was a stick shift too . I was sitting on the floorboard both knees popped while stretching to reach the pedals nothing like having to have two knee surgeries because he broke the seat adjuster but yeah totally worth it so you don't upset a customer

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars HowI Doit says:

But why are the freaking seats up all the way all the time 😂🤣 lights a match.👺

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bobby Ruiz says:

    I always liked manual seats

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Rivas Arroyo says:

Power probe better than a test light has a built in breaker, if you get the power probe 3 it has a screen to see voltage and other things.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! Gold Winger says:

I've been driving for over forty years and I've only had one mechanic not move my seat. Why? Because he was as tall as I am and we are both well over average height (96th percentile)..

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jasper Nemesio says:

The Mexican assembled switch lol. Hey man I'm Mexican and I can tell you that the only reason why that switch went out it's cause it was designed by Americans lol jk.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TFSFireman says:

Great job providing excellent customer service. You didn't break it, but you fixed it! It had to be fixed regardless.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars SUK HWANG says:

Lol very common problem with conventional switches

Seat, windows big story after one oil change
Time to pull out jumper wires just jump it till it reaches position

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ein Felder says:

I hate it when my seat gets moved – so I have a marker on the rails which marks the exact position front to back. Stupid easy to move it back. Height, backrest, and base angles is another matter NEVER touch those.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RIC WINTON says:

Meh…..im 6ft, if the customer isnt my height im moving that seat. It aint safe for me to drive that thing if im not seated correctly. If they say at time of dropping off dont move the seat and they are a short arse, i dont work on it – simples

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Harpoon_Bakery says:

    "Mexican Assembled Seat" , NO-MAS

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Beardedcap says:

I would have called the customer and asked if their seat works before I fixed it for free, maybe be a bit vague/leading with your question

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Hibbard says:

You can move my seat, I have seat memory!

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dan ven says:

You have no idea how many young "technicians" are filling dealerships these days that have no idea what you're talking about. I retired 5 years early because I was tired of hearing these kids ask me things like "I have code p0171. What do I replace ?" And comments from the management "we don't need mechanics we just need warm bodies to fill the stalls".

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RB K says:

    " Who Needs seats " I'm a Lowrider ! 💺.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alan Gregori says:

Unless its a manual seat. You can move it all day long. 2016 MX-5 owner here so no fancy smancy electrical parts where you don't need it.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stealth G35 Infiniti says:

Good trick to resolve your position problem…Have you ever been accused of breaking something so the customer can get a free repair?

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars The Delaware Ranch says:

Funny growing up in a repair shop working for my father his rule was never move the seat

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ozzierabbit says:

Sometimes my driver's seat is put WAY back during a repair, which is sort of funny because I'm rather big at over 200 lb, and I wonder how big the mechanic was—300 lb? 400? more??

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hellcat Redeye -G says:

I’m on mechanic my daughter works for me every day .first thing I taught her never move the seat always make sure the Drivers window was down testing it first to make sure it rolls down properly😂👍I never touch Any money laying around in the car👍

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars SD says:

I am too tall I have to move the seat back to enter the vehicle

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jerry Kinnin says:

    Solution
Go old school. Crank windows no power seats no power locks. No stupid air bags or seat belts.
The best cars are before 196?
    Lol

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Susan Henderson says:

You dont need a schematic or test light to diagnose this, as it work in 1 direction only you know it's a switch fault, unplug it manually jump connector till seat it original position, you made a mountain out of a mole hill on this one.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars S.S.E-4 says:

    …..NEVER MOVE THE CUSTOMER'S WHAT…?

    (SAY IT AGAIN CLASS..! )

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Maru Zura says:

You fell for one of the classic blunders

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sindri atlason says:

    toptul

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dashippo says:

If I were the customer, even if I knew the seat were broken if the shop didn't at least offer to order me a new switch (as the troubleshooting had already been done) that would leave a bad taste in my mouth.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars A PP says:

I’m almost 6’2 sometimes my knees don’t fit under the wheel

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Christopher Hylton says:

Rule 2, never roll down any power windows unless absolutely necessary, especially if the vehicle is more than eight years old or a Chrysler product of any age.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mac’s Machine says:

So move it full forward, put it all back together and tell him to adjust it aft where he wants it but don’t overshoot😂

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nunya Bidniz says:

Not a fan of the dealership who hires short guys from C. America who all adjust my seat forward despite the fact that they're only driving my truck 50yds from the intake to the lube bay to the wash bay to the intake area again. Just sit on the front edge of the seat & leave that dang thing where it is, you're not going that far! Far easier for them to do that than it is for the tall guy to try to squeeze into midget lady's car to move it, test drive, etc… Bottom line, no electric seat adjustments & then you never have to worry about the switch failing, how long it takes to move the dang seat [3 mins vs. 3 secs for manual] etc etc etc…

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Clark says:

Ya know I hear a lot of complaining and my boss has always told me the same thing. However when I literally can’t even get in the car without moving it, I slide it back. Also if it’s gangster leaned so far back it’s horizontal I tip it up. I really don’t get it.. I mean god forbid they have to push a button and move their seat back forward. We drive these vehicles on a daily basis and having a seat grossly MIs adjusted could be fatal in an accident.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve B says:

Great suggestion, but being 6’4” I almost always need to move the seat back to get in the car.
Fortunately I get the seat to move forward most of the time 🤫

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars philofab says:

I though I was the only one that crammed myself into someone elses car without moving the seat.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Freedom 1 says:

But now my wipers don’t work…..

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars McLenko says:

When ur mechanic test-driving a car is over six feet and customer is 4 and a half. Good luck. Not everyone is that flexible lol

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars matt garcia says:

I loathe that, and when they adjust the tilt so they're comfortable??? Also changing the radio station.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason joncas says:

Moving a seat to road test its on the owner you have to be safe when driving a vehicle not crushed against the dash or not being able to fully depress the pedals. And the windows you have to roll down the window to hear any outside noises or being comfortable when the cheap ass does not want the ac fixed.A statement on the repair order would fix this. Just saying.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Greg Ambrose says:

It's the same with window switches

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Timmy Timmy says:

what i hate is when a car owner that is 5 feet even brings you their car to work on and they have the suicide setting. aka easy exit and memory seat and steering wheel. you open the door, the seat is all the way back, the steering wheel is up. you climb in. Everything seems normal. you close the door and start the engine and then you see your life flash before your eyes. the seat starts going towards the steering wheel and the roof. the steering wheel starts tilting down and telescoping out. you cant reach the seat switch with the door closed, and the doors automatically lock when you start it so you cant open the door. your only option is to turn the engine off and hope that the easy exit feature doesn't have to run a full cycle. Its like Jigsaw from Final destination designed the car.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tj Turner says:

I always move the seat I got to fit

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars PaqueSepas says:

Mexican assembled? Don't see the reason to add that when that car is so old and yes switch is bad going forward but honestly don't see the point of saying where it's made. Hope you say American made whenever those products fail. Big fan of the channel just don't see why that needed to be said felt like a slight.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars joblessalex says:

Smartest thing isn't to have it apart, smart thing is put it all the way forward. Customer can move it back as needed. Even smarter thing is just mark the damn thing before you move it.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dwoodog says:

The only thing more crappy, junky, slapped together, held with 2 machine screws than a 98 Mustang is a 89 Mustang. (see how I just reversed the numbers threre. LOL!!)

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars K C says:

Its always either that or the customer fails to tell you not to roll the drivers window down.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars C Riley says:

Replace switch and charge them for it. Any shop around here would do that without batting an eye.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nash Smith says:

I attempt to not move customer seats, but i'm vertically challenged so sometimes I don't have a choice.
