Ray how does welding two bolts head to head going to give you any extra thread to catch onto, surlu you should have cut the head off one bolt ant welded the threaded portion onto the other bolt to extend the threads? I am not seeing the end here clearly!

You would get a much stronger bond if you grind a bevel into both sides that butt together

Good place to find itโs and bolts, Ace Hardware. Way better selection than the big box stores. Saved my butt many time when I needed a longer bolt in odd metric thread.
I had a motor very much like this one in my F-150. Sure wish I could have had you look at it before it became toast. Nice job Ray!

Put a large washer in over the bore and use the air hammer to get half way on. Then use bolt. Can't reused them bolts btw.

Did you use the scanner to set the refrigerant level? You canโt go by poundage on those.

As I recall, those bolts are 14mm; Ace true value carryโs them (go figure)

Just a thinking out side of the box idea I had while watching you fight that crank pulley that I got from AvE. Why not use the liquid side of a can of compressed air you get at the dollar store by flipping it upside down to cool the end of the crank enough to shrink it just enough to slide that pulley on easier?

Use a puller bolt there long strong and cheap enough to sacrifice for a special tool.a socket and washer and there you go.
Cam phasers is the reason I sold my old beauty, I loved my 2006 f150 but the cam phasers clacking over the aftermarket exhaust was just too annoying and concerning to continue our life together

Now to decide if I'm going to undertake the destruction of my ribcage with my '05 3v or just call it scrap. Guess I gotta see what I see first for shavings. Again, well done.

I do enjoy your videos I must say. Especially when you run into aggravating times as I do trying to do something. Unlike me you keep your cool. Me on the other hand, the more the problem is the worse it becomes till I find a work around. Great videos on all 3.
It would be better if you could shut out the background music! I am really surprised that you can even concentrate. That music is awful.
Just a thought, when you were trying to get the pully back on the car but couldn't find a longer bolt with the same thread on it, you could have tried getting the longest bolt you could find with the same threads and cut the head off it and weld it to another long bolt that has a slightly smaller diameter which can just slide freely in and out of the hole.
Not an ideal or perfect solution but should work fine and only take a few mins to put together. Hadn't finished watching the vid when sending this so not sure what your solution was yet but this was the first idea/solution that popped into my head as you were explaining the issue

You've earned my sub. Not that I am anything important but I figured I would mention it since I am only subbed to a half dozen channels. That engine is probably good for another 100K troubled free miles.
Customer of this repair here. Ray, I just wanted to publicly thank you for all of your hard work on giving this engine new life. I was seriously considering just scrapping it and cutting my losses but couldn't find a replacement for anywhere near the repair cost. Just know your work is greatly appreciated!
