I put a piece of shrink wrap around a couple of my wobbiles so it holds it straight(ish) but still bends around angles

At first, I thought you put a magnum+ condom on the throttle body…😛

I am starting to think all those scanners are made by one or a couple of manufacturers. My Launch does the same "one armed bandit" VIN search and the menus look the same.

You can tell who takes care of their vehicle and who doesn't give a damn when they own something like that. Sure, rust is an issue in certain areas of the US, but I've seen people keep them fairly clean even in those areas.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jerry Simpson says:

Still no fix plugs or a/c????

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mitch says:

Did you replace the spark plugs or will they self clean?

    Right, something is actually broken!!

Ray. I had someone bring me a 2013 BMW 535i this week with no blower motor operation, he hasn’t had operation sense August of last year, he’s had it at three Indy shops, two dealerships, one of which he left from and brought it to me.
Apparently they could not find why it was not working. And said he needed 3k in Ac components.
I got the car, verified the blower motor did not blow.
    Unhooked battery.
Went to area of said blower motor. Lifted off cover. I immediately saw the resistor sitting on top unplug, for shits and giggles I plugged it in, plugged in the card battery and tried the air inside.
    The air is now operating.
Took me five minutes of looking to find the issues.
How did five massive luxury auto repair shops did not find this…….
I keep running into this……so I only charged him two hours and sent him on his way.
This grown man was in literal tears of happiness.
Are you seeing this kind of stuff in your shop?
I feel like he was being scammed

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars A Mascia says:

Yeah… OK… But does the car work now?
… I mean, I can see the O2 thingee works now… sure. And, I guess the fuel mixture control is what's going on… and I guess the broken O2 sensor said maxRichness… I'll play it again. Maybe I missed something.

OK… "New fangled" computer controlled stuff. Guess I'll have to look it up. Probably should know it anyway.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ray O'Dell says:

Judging by the amount of rust and corrosion on that car, I bet the sensor cost more than the car was worth 🤪

We have an '04 4runner that we've had since new. I change the engine oil obsessively every 3000 miles, do maintenance as recommended, and it has NEVER EVER broken down. It now has 478,500 km on it (298,000 miles give or take) and runs like it is new. Same color as this one. Best truck ever. Way less rust on the frame than this one, but considerable rust on the tailgate.

I know this is way out there, but, can anyone tell me why after I unplugged the rear view camera on my 2010 Caravan it now dosen't work? It worked fine until I was doing work at the rear latch…does it need to be "turned back on" by programming? Thanks for any help!

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Don says:

I can't find your review of the Top Don scan tool. I'm thinking of buying one for myself.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paublus Americanus AMERICANUS says:

So you are saying the computer can cut your mpg in 1/2 over night when a sensor fails? Looks like I need one of those ecotune obd2 plugs that give you 1/3 better mileage. I get 30 mpg at 80 mph with my Pentastar so we shall see. Let's see, 1/3 of 30 is ten so let's see if it gets 40mpg at 80. I will use premium fuel for this test for 400 miles @ 80mph

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars nomebear says:

These rusty cars must be from the north where the roads are salted. It seems excessive for Florida, but I could be wrong.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Aqua Peet says:

hey man question – why was the (short term fuel trim for b1s2 and b2s2) at 99%? Is that a reaction to the issues or is that a normal number to see? I studied fuel trims but not on a scan tool, ironically.

What was the cause of the sweet smelling exhaust? Sounds like a leaking head gasket to me as the anti freeze gets into the combustion process

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Link says:

I'm surprised how often you receive the incorrect parts. Why do you feel this is? Carelessness by the parts folks or the service writers reporting incorrect info to the parts folks?

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dknight211 says:

Wonder if the catalytic converter is ruined due to all that extra fuel.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Uncle Meat says:

I just repaired my 2001 Tacoma for a A/F sensor problem. The vehicle has 254k miles and has been in the northeast all its life. It has also been a surf fishing vehicle so it saw salt year round. My catalytic converters were replaced 3 years ago and the muffler was done this year. Only original piece was the short section that holds the A/F sensor. Well, one day my girlfriend says " the truck is very loud"…. great. I look under and see the sensor dangling under the truck. The mounting surface had rusted out of the pipe and it was hanging by the wire. Since the rust is invading the front body mount area I decided to just rig it with a few stainless steel zip ties, some metal epoxy and a pack of muffler repair wrap. Good as new!😄 I'm hoping to get another year out of this awesome truck.

In 30 years I've only seen maybe five mechanics do 100% job, 100% honest. 3 in my career in the motor trade, South Main, and Ray. Unfortunately it's the same with most trades nowadays, with builders and mechanics receiving the worst rap because of cowboys giving them a bad name.
Thanks god we now have the internet and review sites to expose them.

I guess I will have to come hunt you down over in Sarasota area if my Range Rover needs work done.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pat Mowatt says:

Is this a Florida car? I drive a 2003 Tacoma and did my O2 sensors last year, and I'm pretty sure the rust/ corrosion is worse on this Runner. This is surprising to me, since I live in the rust belt of Eastern Canada- I didn't expect to see rust situations like this on Florida vehicles. In fact I bought a Florida bed for my Taco 2 years ago and it looked like it came off a showroom floor, not a speck of rust anywhere on it.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Good Old Doug says:

This video just popped up on my feed today, right after I had a class covering everything about short and long-term fuel trim…………………..I think Google might be listening to me! lol

On my 2009 Jaguar XK TPMS light is on. I've been to five mechanics plus the dealer nobody knows what is wrong.
Of course when I went to the dealer they told me to change the module and I said if you change it, Will you guarantee it They told me no. So I asked why are you starting with the most expensive part My quote was 895.00 and you won't guarantee it? The service tech told me well we have to start somewhere
