Hey Ray, I really enjoy watching your videos. I typically don’t comment on any videos but I felt you deserved some appreciation for your hard work. I have read many comments trashing the way you do things and I completely disagree. Keep doing right by your customers. Lastly I have one request. I really like watching your videos in high resolution HD. Can you keep recording in the highest resolution possible for our viewing pleasure.

Noooooo..go back to using the old brake clean surprise sound!!

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Number 6. says:

All those loud noises do not record. Everything is at the same volume. As for the truck ; it has just a fine covering of dust , very little rust. Even the stickers are still intact. It is like he only drives it around a warehouse or a dessert. No mud,no grime and the ball joints just fall off. Strange.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ron Wolenski N8WCR says:

You should add the sound effect of "dun dun dahhhh" when you show the can of wonder cleaner!

You need a sticker that says “Subscribe” for the lift button!

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ericspecullaas says:

Ray when you said "I shake them left and right, then shake them up and down" you should have said "I shake them left and right then you shake them up and down then you spin the wheel round and round that's what it's all about" would have confused everyone

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars richardwernst says:

Can you not buy/just replace the ball joints in the arms any more?

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Oscar Jones says:

That Duralast Gold UCA is very impressive looking compared to new moog- even the problem solvers. Wow

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Yeah Right says:

I've had bad ball joints before at one point on almost every single car I've ever owned and the ONLY one I've that's actually separated was a Subaru. I'll NEVER own another one EVER and that's not the only reason why.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mission Hills says:

Wonder how much more it would've cost for tie rod ends and sway bar links? Could've been totally rebuilt, those struts look recent

    Hows Sarasota these days?

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Thorstad says:

Um, I very much doubt that those Duralast arms are an improvement over the OE. Regardless of what their sticker says.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JC Mac says:

New upper control arm has grease fittings, interesting??!!

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andy Peek says:

Great job, mate, I must say how much better quality the replacement parts looked, and GREASE Nipples, my God, what will they think of next?
My first car was a 1964 Hillman Minx back in 1972, and the car had grease points all over the chassis and suspension, that was when you could do your own repairs, without a computer to tell whats wrong, happy days.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tedmich says:

You can't just replace the joints , you have to replace BOTH arms?? Man thats whack!

I remember when replacing control arms and replacing ball joints were two different things. Ball joints were separate pieces bolted on.

I started fixing cars in the 70s when everything was rear wheel drive and had spindles so I catch myself still saying spindle whether it's a spindle or a knuckle.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Oscar Leon says:

You got lucky there Ray. Did the same job on my buddies truck and the lower control arm bolts were seized and had to be cut out. We would cut them to about 60% of the way through then shear them off and use the nut to drive the broken bolt out. Also replacement bolts were expensive and unobtainium.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Bailey says:

Doorman is the harbor-freight of car parts, but Dura-last is like the Wal-mart…these seem like parts the ford dealer would have in stock, with so many of those station wagons on the road….

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Greg Betts says:

such a waist , compleat control arm to replace a $30 ball joint …. always thought ford dropped the ball in the mid late 90's in both body an undercarage …. good vid

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Bailey says:

Was there a time when a ball joint replacement was not an a-arm/wishbone/control arm replacement?

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris says:

I have to get me some of those ginormous snap on vice grips. Very cool, and I assume very pricey. The wife is going to ask how much I spent so I'll just blame Ray. Thanks Ray.

yeah definitely appreciate the sped up second one as it's just a repeat. no need to drag it out. good call. music volume during that was probably a bit too loud though 😁

  56. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars THE TRUTH says:

A good honest mechanic would of tightened it down and charged 6hrs of labor and new parts and called it a day

  57. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Earl Ribaudo says:

Knowing that he had warped rotors, why did you not suggest turning the rotors?

  58. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jimmy, Making it work says:

All you need is a Warranty Checker from JDTCO and a ratchet wrench set from Mountain. Haha

    Nice work!

  59. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars drysori says:

Why can't you just replace the ball joints?

  63. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kelly/Scott Lindner says:

  64. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars IkeHVAC says:

What was the song in your time lapse towards the end of the video?

  65. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vern Lemasters says:

Just being a home mechanic I never replaced the arms when the ball joints were bad. Your way would be much quicker and maybe almost the same price if you had to re-lace any of the bushings. Way cheaper on labor. Thank you you taught me something else.

  66. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars stumpy2816 says:

    👍👍

  67. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard L. says:

Really enjoyed watching the front end work on the Ford, video was not long when it's fun to watch.

  68. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jdtractor man says:

I used to get laughed at when I was a tech for setting the car on the ground before tightening the control arm bolts. Actually, I think the other tech was just too lazy to do it. He was also a kind of know it all anyways. It just makes sense to tighten them with the car on the ground as that's the position the car will be sitting at, and it won't twist the bushings or make them bind.

  69. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kevin Kristof says:

BS. Sorry, it’s just a mini swamp cooler.

  70. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Darren says:

YES RAY! lol great videos as always sir! And I agree with Daniel Padgett go all day please so enjoy how very long these videos are😊

  71. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Precision Auto Diagnostics&Repair says:

What happened to putting the vehicle at natural ride height before you tighten down anything with a straight bushing???????? I don't get how you have so many subscribers when you are not performing your job properly… does not make any sense to me….

  72. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Don K says:

Ray I am not a mechanic that being said could the ball joints have been replaced without changing upper and lower arms?
Enjoy your Channel, Thank you .

  73. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael says:

idk why you made it hard for yourself not marking the camber/caster bolts on the lower arms and also not tightening at ride height will 100% cause creaking you wouldn't believe how many noises i fixed just because the guy didn't tighten at ride height even my own fathers truck i did because i was lazy and could fix it whenever

  74. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TJEssary says:

Hey, Ray! You can't call it weebly wobbly, because "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down!" 😉

  75. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ed Matthews says:

    Can't find part 2….

  76. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sirjolly81 says:

I had a squeak for 6 months. I re greased every rear bushing, I wrapped the sleaave in teflon tape. I could not find the sqeak! Saw one youtube vid showing a squeaking ball! fixed. i had the rear apart 3 times to find the squeak. Ball joints didn't even have play. just no grease.

  77. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! Steven Pollard says:

No wonder My body is worn out after a lifetime of tinkering with my cars and not having power tools like those!

  78. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gary Hickey says:

Amber Heard uses donated and pledged interchangeably!

  79. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Aaron Burson says:

These manufacturers just keep making parts more and more expensive. Just knock out the joint, put the new one in. It's getting to the point that you'd be better off building your own car from scratch.

  80. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sharm663 says:

Eric O forward the YouTube phone line to Ray's shop!

  81. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Thomas Gabrielsen says:

As long as you don't use "pledge" and "donate" interchangeably, you're good. 😁

  82. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Crystal says:

Ray, even if your video was 4 hours long I’d still watch it. You’re doing fine. 🙂

  83. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars J.O.A.T says:

Just curious Ray. Was replacing the the arms cheaper than pushing out the old ball joints and installing new, thus not having to remove the arms?

  84. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Carter says:

1st off I stumbled across your channel and think that almost everything you do is top notch. I was going to leave you a " you should have done it this way Comment " but hell I've been a mechanic in pgh for almost 30 years and I've learned everyone has a different way of doing things for the same result so thanks for bringing the field into a better light

  85. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Baker says:

A common misconception with that style of factory and some aftermarket ball joint, “non-greasable” isn’t actually non-greasable, or already loaded with sufficient grease, I use a grease gun attachment that has a needle that goes into any boot and loads grease. Cheap and very good tool to have to reduce wear and warranty on parts replaced with “lifetime” warranty

  86. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jimmy Delgado says:

Am I the only one who knows you can press those lower ball joints out using a press?

  87. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars pnorton75 says:

WTW! You cant replace just the ball joints? You have to replace the entire control arm?

  88. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dtiydr says:

Wow, you really have to change the whole control arm and not only the ball joints?!

  89. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rexen Prime says:

What is the name of the music in the vid? That was cool, I want to listen to more.

  90. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ahmed Karim says:

The upper control arms would’ve still come out without removing the strut, extra work but I guess if the strut needed replacing then it’s all good

  91. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! Garry Reid says:

Of course its better and easy ,not a Gmc chevy or a dodge. .hahaha

  92. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Tucker says:

  93. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sam van Huizen says:

Another great video! Love your content!
One question is why didn’t you just replace the ball joints? Why all new control arms? Were the old ones bad or just the ball joints. Thanks again for the light hearted and expert content!

  94. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ian Wrigley says:

    Angry Pliers – the return!

  95. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Brodeur says:

I love the brake clean part…always makes me smile. I know it's so impractical, but when he was disconnecting the ball joints, I so wanted to see "hammer cam".

  96. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Al Ramos says:

How long are the pipe pliers?
