In this video I fix a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado with only 14,000 miles on it and it was less than 2 weeks out of warranty. However when the customer took it into the dealer to be looked at it was less than ONE WEEK OUT! I guess the rules are the rules but you know dang well if it was some "big important person" the dealership would have bent over backwards for the guy even if it was out of warranty by a few days. -Enjoy!

    GM in general fucking sucks. Remember when they put a shorter lock pin in the ignition switch to save half a penny per pin and 137 people died? GM denied all responsibility cause half a penny was worth more than an actual living customer.

    Had a bad experience at a Chevy dealer, was a drag as I had been a bowtie guy since birth. They fixed the problem, 3 injectors (Lumina 3.0 out of warranty), told me over the phone that they COULD NOT put the serpentine belt back on used, company policy. I told them I had a spare under the drivers seat. When I picked up the car they charged me for the belt saying that the one under the seat wasn't the correct belt "Lucky you!! Good we spotted this, you might have gotten stranded!!" Unfortunately for them, it was the belt that I had taken off when I replaced the belt myself. Kept the old one that was in good shape as an emergency spare. There was a goodly amount of embarrassment running around there for a bit. Never went back to that dealer. Not exactly sure why the belt had to come off anyway??
    Had my next bad experience at a Nissan dealer, 2005 Murano, factory warranty with aftermarket extention. Had a ticking sound when started up cold, sounded like a sticky lifter (Chevy guy, remember?) They said ok, no biggie. Came back two days later, had the same problem when I started it up at the dealer. Came back the next day, svc mgr said that they couldn't duplicate the noise. I asked them if they had a mechanic that lived over 20 miles away, have them drive the car home and listen to it when starting it up in the morning. I said if it was a SBC, it would be a tired lifter. I got pooh poohed… Two days later the svc mgr told me that it was a hyd cam follower (fukng sticky lifter) that was the problem, sure enough. When he wants me to sign off on the warranty paperwork, I see that it was nearly $2000 and they had replaced the VVT sprockets when I first brought it in. (they said twaz a common 'valve train fix all' in that engine at 120K+ miles) I wouldn't sign it. I told them that they were not doing their jobs right and trying to fang the warranty company for their screw ups. They had me sign an amended claim. Called the warranty company and clued them in as well.
    I owned a 2001 Impala that I traded the Lumina above in on. Yeah, went with another Chev. Traded it in on the Murano when it had 98K on it, never replaced A THING on that Impala. Wifey REALLY wanted that Murano. Murano is still in the family with 197K on it. Since the Murano, there have been only Toyotas. First one was a commuter, a Corolla. Sold it to my neighbor with 247K on it nearly 10 yrs ago. He is still driving it. Retired now: 1955 Chev Sedan Delivery 56K, 1984 Land Cruiser 62K, 2007 Tundra 66K, 2012 Venza 74K, 2014 Scion xB 61K, 2014 Tacoma 37K. Pretty much set. You totally rock, have been subbed for a while now.

    Last Chevy dealer I worked at would go an extra mile for customers who bought from them or had most of their services done there. Something like this probably would've been goodwilled, especially finding a clear defect like this. There's no way the wire broke from use or abuse. Unfortunately, not all dealers want to protect the brand.

    All the brands have a cutoff date on warranties, I've had warranty work done on my GMC Sierra and they will tell you when the time is running out. Its not like its a secret, seems like everyone wants things for free today but its the dealers fault your warranty expired. LOL

    I'll never go to another dealership for anything. I have a GMC duramax that kept having fluid appearing on the front left wheel well. I checked all around where I thought it might come from but couldn't find anything. I took it to the dealer and the service manager said that it was the lower power steering hose leaking. He said he has changed a hundred of them and that's always the problem when fluid appears on the wheel well. I thought it strange as I checked the hose several times but never felt any fluid and told him so but he said trust me, that's where it's coming from.. They changed the hose and off I went. I don't drive it much except when I need to pull my boat or camper so about 6 months later I see the fluid again. This time there's more of it and I immediately smell its gear oil. I look and the front differential vent is puking oil out. So now I have a new lower hose that I didn't need and a $450.00 bill I didn't want and I still had to end up fixing the $37.00 problem myself.

    I keep getting notifications in mail for airbag recall on 2011 Tahoe, have called and left messages with service departments(where i get transferred to, they never pick up) at 3 different Chevrolet dealers 5 times. Never got a single return call. Me thinks they donโ€™t want to deal with having the dash disintegrate when they touch it.

    Not a warranty story but a stealership one. My parents had an older Volvo that my mom would always take to the dealer to have serviced no matter what. Her ac pump was crapping out and causing the engine to bog out. They took it to the dealer and they told her she basically needed a head gasket job or a replacement engine or buy a new car. Told my dad to cut the belt off the car and drive it home. Car ran great for years after.

Dealer tech mis diagnosed the problem. $160 for connector. $250 blower motor. $250 labor. just under $700 dollars and they put truck back together with half the screws missing. Next truck will be a Toyota.

    Oh yeah dealerships service centers are a pain..just as bad as jiffy lube. My sister took her car to a jiffy lube for full tune up and brakes and paid for nothing bcuz the work never got done rite..then she took it back to dealership and instead of honoring the warranty they still charged her for fly wheel replacement.They both the same ..so now i do all of the repairs on it for her as a DIY'r..as the saying goes @ SMA. ….if Erik can do it so can I…๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

    I took my Toyota to the dealer to get a replacement wheel bearing. They told me I needed a new clutch. Two years later, I'm ยฃ800 lighter with 3 new wheel bearings and the clutch is still working exactly as it did before. I don't understand why dealers lie to their customers.     Dealerships are out of limits with cost of repairs and even parts. No wonder many people go to auto parts stores. It isnโ€™t OEM but for some things itโ€™s okay. 2016 Ford Fusion due 100,000 mile replacement of spark plugs. Dealership quoted my wife $300. Bought the parts from them and SHE did the whole job in less than 40 minutes. SHE WAS MOTIVATED to show it could be done. Would only let me hold the flash light. Do what you can yourself but find a shop like yours for the times you need to. Great videos, just discovered. Thank you.

    Eh, a contract is a contract. I wouldn't give them any leeway on the terms of the contract that protect me (i.e. if something is covered by the warranty and I'm in the warranty period, I will make them fix it for free), so I don't expect them to give me any leeway (i.e. if the warranty is 36 months from purchase, at 36 months and one day, it's over). They didn't offer a 36.5 month warranty. If they want to fix it anyway, that's their business decision, but I wouldn't say they suck for just sticking to the terms of the agreement.

    Ask for "Factory Assistance" for crap like this, folks. That term is the LAST thing dealers want to hear. The factory would MAKE the dealer cover it, being that close to warranty.
