I am always on pins and needles waiting for you to break out the pickle fork. you do a great job and your narrative is superb. anybody on any level of technical experience could greatly enjoy your work. Thank you.
I know this video is over two years old and I still love it over and over thank you again. I don't even know if you still read comments on two-year-old videos, but thank you anyway. Drew-Charles

June 2022 . Just had this very same job done on my 2006 XT Forester. Fortunately things dont rust where I live so a straight forward job. They charged me for 90 minutes labour.

Now I enjoy watching rainman ray but if he had to work along side you he would be saying " WHYYYYYY?!!" All the time.😄

I personally use BP blaster ! I'm pretty sure you have used it ! On the pricey side !

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alan D says:

How do you determine what ride height is when tightening that through bolt?

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Patrick o'hara says:

I have a 2006 Subaru Forester with 29000 miles and i hear a whapping noise in rear of car as i,m driving. What could it be?I dont know if its the tires, wheel bearing,or differential.I dont know where noise is coming from.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donald Painter says:

That's a dumbass design by Subaru no sense in that one bolt being such a beast

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Posh panda says:

why is it always left rear and never any other….

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars pegalis says:

Little trick that everyone seems to forget. If that lower bolt is hashed, you can still just unbolt the lower links from diff cross-member and leave the links attached to the upright. Workin' smarter 🙂

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Whitey_B says:

When I worked at the Subaru dealership we would add our own grooves to that bolt and also load it up with tin man goo lol
I have had a few where I replaced both lower arms knuckle backing plate ect it was all a solid chunk lol

I love that monster air hammer. Screw you mr. Subaru!

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars spotthedogg says:

If you remove the inner bolt from the forward lateral link you can drop the knuckle far enough to get the CV axle out 😊

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Stoltzfus says:

I can tell that is a northern car.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RILEY (SlotDog) PLAYS SLOTS (He's a dog) says:

I took off all the e brake stuff. Pain in the butt.
I still have to press on bearing. Put all.that crap back together. Including e brake…..
Then do the other side. Uggggg

Well that was probably the most informative, detailed learning experience I've watched in a long dam time. I found you just in time to , cause that's exactly what car and part I'm working on. Oh Joy. I'm in the sierra foothills in California, we have are share of salt and crud, so after watching this video I am definitely not looking forward to what's ahead of me.
Either way , brilliantly done video , you just got another subscriber!!

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ivan Olsen says:

maybe the idea would be to LEASE cars in the salt belt

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ivan Olsen says:

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars claymore cluepile says:

i dunno…..the ugga dugga just isn't the right tool for this job……some day somebody will invent the right tool for freeing siezed knuckle bolts in the subaru

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Antonio Claudio Michael says:

Wish Subaru would enclose that bolt making it a sealed housing the bolt goes through, but it is what it is always makes great content for sure 👍 Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

You never fail to amaze me! Can't believe Subaru made that! I have a 2015 Subaru Legacy hope that don't happen to me any time soon! Thank you!

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheHighKirk says:

    would a needle scaler help?

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matt Marsh says:

It's easier to drop the diff down and slip the axles out that way then mess with that big bolt!!!! And use the hub tamer ofcourse.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Travis says:

    WHAAAAT?????

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Clark Ireland says:

If you already had replacement bushings why not put some heat on it?

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brad Cass says:

Funny because Rainman in Florida talks about how bad corrosion must be up north

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars volksjager says:

when i use to do these i wouldnt even screw around fighting to save the arms. you want a new rear wheel bearing? then your getting 2 new control arms as well or im not doing the job. then use the ford wrench to torch everything off. the money saved not buying new arms was more than wasted in time trying to save the old shit. thankful most of these older subarus are gone now around here and i mostly only see the new style with bolt in bearings.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Print Olive says:

Liquid wrench works better than Kroil for penetrating rusty parts.

Waiting for the ”Click” but it is the wrong channel

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Less Chatter, More Splatter! says:

Doing a good job through experience. Meanwhile, back at the dealership theres a bunch of revolving door monkeys that couldn’t change a dome light bulb without a computer program with step by step instructions complete with an inflated time to be billed for. They usually only stick around long enough to get ass deep in debt to the Snap on man.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jack raintree says:

Subaru backwards is u-r-a-bus just saying

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Greene says:

This would be one of many reasons that I would never, ever own a Subaru

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars cype man says:

I would have cut the head of the bolt off at 20 minutes, once you freed up the other bushing and drilled out the rubber bushing.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeffrey Alan Lotz says:

As much time/effort and energy as this took, why not replace the whole hub assembly? I would think in the end, you would save the extra $50-$60 that you would spend on the hub on labor

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shogun Autoworks says:

Kroil spray or Free All spray. It isn't a lube. It MELTS rust.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shogun Autoworks says:

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ‘Cave Beast Demon' says:

I just went through this myself! I had to replace everything because it was accident damage. I was able to hammer this bolt out with a drift pin but that wasn't the only one I had to beat on.
