Sad part is this is not the worst I have seen folks. The sadder part is NYS is always trying to get on my butt any chance they can to pull my license yet shops like the ones who slap stickers on garbage like this never get caught. Go figure 🤷🏼♂️
My guy Josh has got us a good one here. Dodge Caliber Got a fresh sticker on it. It's now the month of June This baby got sticker slapped last month. Let's get your classic duct tape.
Nothing to see here folks. No giant holes or anything. And the good part is she's got brand new brakes. Uh, minor hole in the subframe.
rear sway bar. just kind of hanging in outer space here. But uh, she's disappeared on this guy. Look at this thing.
Pathetic folks. Pathetic. Come on the other side. more duct tape at least I Use black Hey Look, it's a see-through Edition More new breaks Another Broken Subframe on this side.
so that's the rear subframe. See, she's splitting away here. Of course it's all routed out where the sway bar is supposed to attach. Awesome! Great good safety check.
And that folks is your classic lick them, stick them inspection. You have a nice day.
UNI BODY IS TRASH
Chassis wash and waxoyl every autumn stops this
That's how they rolled off the assembly line in belvedere, Illinois
I'm very proud to say that I used to do the Federal DOT inspections, and I never once passed a vehicle that didn't meet every specific line on the list.
I really pissed off some people including the management and customers.
But if I ever had to stand before a jury because someone got hurt, I wouldn't have to worry about the truth.
If you are honest you don't have to remember what you said or did.
That's why I enjoy watching this channel. They are absolutely honest and more than capable.
Life in the rust belt
Sticker for $$$
Ever since Eric O got married that's all he hears. Day after day after day after day lick'em and stick'em lick 'em and stick 'em and be quick about it.😜🤣😭👁️➕💪🐊🦖🦕
Evéry state should have annual inspections, you should see some of the shit on the road out here in Nevada
Take that vehicle to the junkyard for parts.
There are none of those left on the road and most were off the road 4 years after the sale 😮
I'm surprised that there's no prevention against or improved design for severe northeast corrosion. Way too often Eric (et al) show us cars with great bodies but with rotted frames. Here in mild/dry Denver my daily driver, a '90 LeSabre, is still strong with 370,000 miles. My car care is nothing unusual so I'd predict most any car could live longer if the frame didn't corrode away. And what's the current loan period? 10 years?
NJ inspection is "is the check engine light on? did you just clear the light? No to both? Ok you pass"
Man, rust proof your vehicles lol. I got vehicles the same age as that Caliber, and they have some minor surface rust on the frame, but still very good lol.
Slip anyone in NY a few bucks theyll approve anything you want.
Would have loved to hear the conversation with the customer lol
Color matched duct tape too…
Sounds like a second cousin
Yankee cars…stay away from them.
So, what the owner supposed to do ….junk it?
Next time you find one
Of these I want it!
I just wanna rip it through my rutted field and see how long it lasts..
The pathetic thing is that new car dealers dont serve or unclude even if it were an extra procto
plate undercarriage zeiebart no longer . And it's not fair for what the charge for their cars &
other vehicles. Damn shame and a sham.
But they won't let you remove your catalytic converter 😂what a joke!
If vehicles in Kentucky required a yearly state inspection 70% of people wouldn’t be driving.
We use a special kind of beet juice in some Canadian cities on the roads here to keep the ice down instead of salt a lot more expensive, but it doesn’t car cause the cars to rust
Start spreading the News..Their rusting away..I want a Lick Em..Stick Em Edition..New York New York
another reaspon I won't live in New York. Here..no safety inspections, no emission inspections. I have
seen major corruption on both.
If i bring my car to a shop and some arrogant 8===D starts making snarky ass videos instead of treating me like a human and telling me the issues, we fightin.
Weught reduction
Brine… car manufacturers love it.. cars rot to shit because of it in just 10 years and we’ll need new ones.. I miss the days of just sand and rock salt.. not nearly as corrosive.
Classic I know a guy
How the eff do these places get away with that?
Where I work in Maine my boss would tell the customer to scrap it and no sticker for you
Rust holes just make the car lighter and more fuel efficient. Better fuel efficiency mean less emissions. Pass.
Arizona resident here: the idea of watching your car literally rot away into rust is an alien concept to me….
I used to have a Dodge Caliber and I can personally say that those are sh!tty cars. Cheap build quality and materials. Mine wasn’t rusted like this one, but lower control arms kept going out and ate the front tires, it started to have a tiny rust spot by the trunk hinge, radio dials skipped up and down. Acceleration was hesitant from a stop, so I changed the throttle body. The plastic shifter cable connector broke twice. Replacing a headlight bulb required you to remove the front wheel, unless you had super tiny hands that could contort into the tiny area. The Jatco CVT was crap. It made more noise than it did power. I bought that car brand new and I think I only had about 80,000 miles, or maybe less. I lived in Hawaiʻi so I didn’t have to drive far. I traded that in for a 2016 Prius, which is way more reliable.
Send it!
Dang here I am not getting a sticker for a pinhole in my 94 Chevy lol
Got to love that New York City rust I live near Virginia Beach my car doesn't have that much rust under the undercarriage.
Looks like a lot of vehicles I worked on here in Wisconsin. Salt is awesome, NOT. We have no inspection here btw.
I was going to say at least your state has safety inspections but. . . . they don't seem to do much good.
As long as it doesn't have no check engine code you're doing great😂
I thought New York and New Jersey switch to emissions only inspection?
I know it's the rust belt but why don't people care and take care of their ride? There are ways of combatting the you know.
Bondo will fix it…..
What happens when they condem a vehicle?
these are no holes, these are vents!
Jeeze sad, I hope nobody rides with them
Attention all Yankee types, dumb redneck here, my message to you is spend a little cash to undercoat your cars, a little money saves you a trip to the car crusher. Get er done bubba. 🤠👍🏴
Pre Emissions testing , I was living in Florida and the State did away with inspections because someone brought a suit against the State proving that statistically less than 1 % of accidents are caused by equipment failure.
The rest are driver error.
If they were really at all interested in reducing auto related injuries they would require a higher level of driving skill. The first thing that you’re supposed to do is adjust your rear view mirror for instance.
I would turn that mirror up and require the driver to use their side mirrors exclusively. If you can’t use side mirrors with confidence you shouldn’t be driving. There are many things they could do that would be far more effective than equipment inspections.
Ratting the guy out.
reminds me of a dodge calibre customer begged me to throw a starter in
rockers rotten
subframe rotten
power dist centre rotten
See through addition 😂😂 you should be a car salesman 😂😂
I've always been a fan of David Allen Coe🤣
Ur state must absolutely suck tell them get with the times stop putting salt on the roads lol
Theres a recall on those , man those things are junk
It’s hard to blame folks…they’re probably still making payments. New cars suck
Did it pass? 😉😉😉
"minor hole in the subframe"
New rockers (sill) a new rear subframe and it's good to go😂😂😂
I won’t go to a place that puts my car on a lift.
Nice one! Don't ya just LOVE being a mechanic in the new england area?!
lmfao i had a 93 prelude SI in 2016 that had 75% less rust on it than that pos
Doesn’t fail until it has a hole or falls off. Maybe they noted it was severely rusted but it wasn’t quite there a month ago
At least it wasn't a Chevy
Maybe if we focused on lowering costs on repairs instead of over engineering cars to up cost. He'd be able to afford frame repair and body work. (Not telling mechanics to charge less, just manufacturers shouldn't turn 15m jobs into 6h ones when designing)
Should be in junk yard.
They definitely knew the person doing the inspection lol
That's another reason why I wouldn't live in NY. Plus the democrats have ruined the state
He is great, nothing to see here, lmao 🤣. I give him props, as a technician I could never work on the east coast. The scary part is, idiots driving crap like that on the highway next to you at 75 mph.
Seems like the class action lawsuits against auto makers needs to happen like in the early 80s when a car lasted 2 years. This is unacceptable for vehicles that cost so much new. There is absolutely no reason these cars are not being painted with epoxy paints and primers underneath.
Must be a lot of salt in your area. A LOT of salt.
Looks like most people commenting on here have no idea what is supposed to be checked during a NY inspection, and even more than that are naive enough to think its for safety…
Almost like the state does zero for " safety" but they do love collecting revenue from any source they can. 😂
Nothing some jb weld can't fix
NJ if you don't have a check engine light on, and pass emissions, that's it .. don't even check for rust
wow… I see Calibers in the wreaking years here with rust free bodies. Maybe we should be sending them to the north east so the inspected cars and move what good parts they have onto our junk cars
Did she know what she was getting?? I mean we all know a guy when we need a sticker lol
OMFG!!!!!!
Illinois gave up on state inspections a while ago.😂😂😂
If you live in the “salt belt” find a reputable undercoating company that warranties their work. I have a 94 pickup with almost zero rust because of undercoating. It works.
The whole car is blue toothed
Goes to show that these inspectors have zero qualifications. What a joke this country has become. This car isn't even safe to tow to the junkyard.
it ain't got no gas in it !
Woooooow this is horrible the way shops do this to customers. 😢
Wow who let that slip
I'd refuse the job.
Holy crap.
SOOO glad I dont live in a northern state
I'd be scared to be near that thing up on the lift… Is that a liability on the State Inspector's part? If you get hurt by the car disintegrating in front of you?
Holy rust
That car is about par for upstate NY.
its not about safety, its about revenue generation to keep the bureaucracy afloat.
Damn, and I feel awkward every time i drive because one of my sway bar bushings cracked and is held by a heavy metal strap…
Transparency is key
As an ex MOT tester, I'm horrified.
Who's inspecting? what is this
Ah the ol' brown envelope inspection
Whew! Glad someone put that duct tape on. Imagine how much worse it would have been without it!
That car is a mess…the tape for rockers is a cool modification…LOL. Thanks for showing these rotten cars with recent ish inspections. Are there any shops around you Eric that does a good and proper inspection..and rejections as needed like you guys do?? Keep up the great content…i just hope that rolling mess doesn't carry kids around.
