Is there no way to pop the lug studs without taking wheel off ? I've changed studs before but only once and I took the wheel off. Im just wondering for my own knowledge if the studs can be popped out without taking wheel off.
I don't know if you look at comments from older videos but i case you do a friend taught me this trick, use a sacrificial socket and use a stick welder to weld the socket to the nut from the inside, it wont slip and the heat also helps loosen it.
1) Don't use a ratchet, the driving force is a little pawl and breaks easy. Use a breaker bar. 2) Don't use an extension on the socket. It directs the torque at an angle and folds over. Reeeee! Just my opinion.
Could have used a hex socket and impact driver in the hex hole under the caps that’s what they are for… or weld a nut to the old one. Had to use the latter a few times on stubborn drum retainer screws.
You got a hex hole in the lug nut right in front of you. Just find an hex socket like an allen wrench and use that instead of using that crap that will do nothing but further destroy the lug nut.
it’s a very typical problem with chrysler lug nuts, instead of a solid one they made it out of aluminum and then encased that aluminum with a aluminum cap so it’ll crush the cap then you have nothing to remove the actual lug. Also the reason it’s so tight is the aluminum expands over time due to heat expansion and kinda welds itself on the wheel. not fun not fun
What kind of knuckle dragging pinhead puts lug nuts on so dam tight. That person would be screwed if they were hundreds of miles from anyplace and got a flat.
I have had trouble removing lug nuts myself. One reason was it was a 67 dodge truck with right-hand threads, and I was turning them the wrong way. The last time I used a 10' cheater pipe on a breaker bar, a propane torch, and a lot of spray solvent. I finely got the wheel off but it wasn't easy. I greased up the lug nuts, and reinstalled the wheel. The next time the lug nuts were just as difficult to remove.
I hate lug nuts with the beauty covers on them. All they are good for is looking good and fu&^ing up when you have a flat tire 69 miles from somewhere.

If all else fails get a good heavy chisel and a 5 lb sledge hammer and split the lugs down two sides making 2 halfs. I've done this a few times in my life and it works very well and is relatively quick and easy.
Word to the wise as soon as you buy a car if you're not going to f**** be smart and take care of your lug nuts and use proper sockets and proper tools then you should just replace them with solid aftermarket lug nuts and if you can't do that then just do it right away if you're just going to ruin them mostly you're going to ruin them anyway so cuz I fear somebody who takes care of your car you're going to have the wheels off a lot so just get yourself some good nice solid all the way through lug nuts as soon as you buy the car because those stupid capped ones that GM and Ford and Fiat use are trash
I always wantex a newer car when I was broke finally got some money got a newer car and found out that they f**** blow and are literal rolling trash cans powered by computers under engineered piles of garbage
Had this happen with my wife's 2018 Pathfinder over the weekend. St'd 4-way wrench wouldn't seat properly on a couple of lugs and had to get a true socket to get it off. They weren't as wrecked as these, but I did have to reshape them on my bench so I could fit the OEM wrench over them.
Those cap-over lugs are awful. What do you recommend as replacements?
Holy crap! I think your socket slipped so hard that it went into Low Earth Orbit. Maybe the guys on the ISS will spot it someday

Heating m up with a hair blower works many times 💪.
Look like they used a way to heavy Loctite on it. A kind of Loctite ment for heavy construction vehicles, which is a glue for this size of bolts.
Would you have more power having the wheel on the ground? Looks like alot of power of multiplier is getting lost in the wheel movement

Tighten the undamaged lugs, and the tightened and damaged ones become much easier to loosen – works especially well with just one bad lug.

I'm surprised the rims weren't bent or destroyed and the hub. Somebody must've rammed them in in an angle and destroy the tapping

torque spec 130 ft lbs, just use 1300, to be sure.

We used to use a 8 foot tent pole and 3 guys jumping on it to take the lug nut off a 2-1/2 ton Military truck. 39 years ago.
