hi dude, on my jeep Patriot there is an airbag light on since 4 days, but sometimes the light get off and after some minuts turn back on. the diagnostic device show me the B1B06 error. What is the problem for you? the clock spring? let me know, thanks!

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rich Wilt says:

You should always unhook battery before working on the airbag system and the problem was probably the fact that there were no shorter bars in the plugs. Always have to have shorter bars to complete circuit and eliminate open squib lights.

Hello, I have B1B06 code in my JEEP WK. I change clockspring yesterday for original part from MOPAR. After montage part and switching on the starter, airbag light still shine. I check the codes and i have B1B03. Driver airbag squib 1 have constant resistance 1.5ohm and driver airbag squib 2 have constant resistance 3.1ohm. Squib 1 have too low resistance.
Plis help me, what can I do?

That is a great video, and very informative; I might have to change the clock spring on my wife's `14 Dart one of these days, as it is approaching 190K . This video is one I would definitely go back to before doing that job. Thank you for posting this.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nedu Nonny P says:

Hey quick question, When replacing a deployed Airbag, is the AirBag light supposed to automatically go out Or it still needs reprogramming?? Thanks.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars PhigoDakidd says:

Hey I have a question, When Replacing Driver and Passenger AirBag that deployed, Will replacing Both airbags automatically turn off the airbag lights? Or will it need programming or scanner to turn it off? I'm Having Code 0006 Driver Squib Circuit #1 Open. 2000 Dodge Intrepid.

What if it hadn't been the Clock Spring but the Squib cable itself What to do then? I just had the airbags replaced and have had an issue with the Squid codes and the vehicle has had clock springs changed out 7 times. When you lower the tilt the light comes back on after every repair and the last time the light came on while I was at the dealership leaving the lot when I lowered the wheel.
I complained and they told me that this time had been a courtesy repair because the car was out of warranty? I got in contact with the District Chrysler Rep and was told QUOTE (We ain't doing shit to it, its out of warranty!) Now I'm stuck with a car that has never had a passenger operational Airbag unless I'm willing to fork over $500+ to let them try again? WTF!

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars HTC says:

Note: When putting screws into plastic.
Turn the screw backwards until it drops into the thread slots. Then tighten normally.
That prevents cutting new slots and stripping the plastic.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Chiodetti says:

Air Bag circuits are fun! Especially when someone else has been in there! I had some of the Ford simulators, and they worked well. I also had an "intermittent" squib, clockspring, whatever you want to call it, on a GM van. That was fun. Using the Tech 2, I was able to see the problem which was a big help.
Great Video, wish all air bags were that easy to work on.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bruce L. says:

I break plastic bezels, clips, seat brackets and covers. I use super glue. For Rock hard repair add baking soda. Takes 30 seconds of holding it together.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Adam Halverson says:

What if you have the squib 1 open circuit and it is not the clock spring? How can you diagnose the problem then? I noticed while driving my 09 sebring the car dings at me when I change gear from drive to reverse or vice versa.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Beck says:

Thank you for the great video. Very informative and exactly what I needed. I have 4 airbag codes. 1 is open squib.
    Thanks again.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Ferguson says:

Shouldn't you pull the circuit breaker and disable the airbags before starting to disassemble the steering wheel??????

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tony Totten says:

Great video I've a dodge nitro 2008 crd 4xwheel drive with air bag light on off and diagnostic reading is B1B06 driver Air bag squib 2 circuit open. Goes off and comes on when i go round corners sometimes it remains off for a while during a journey then it come back on i thought may be was a trapped wire or dodgy connector under seat but I have checked them all seem intact.
Is it possibly the clock spring that's goosed
Thanks Tony from over the pond in Scotland

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Adam Trombino says:

I'm glad you mentioned the factory flow chart issue. More often than not, they are dead wrong, and you will indeed spend countless hours chasing a ghost. I learned that the hard way in the '90s, and they are just as useless now. I don't know who writes them, but they are just way off 90% of the time. Test it yourself using common sense and electrical theory, and you'll get it right the first time, in much less time. Thx Eric!
