Just turn the wrench, leave the thinkin to the others.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brian McSwigan says:

It's a crime to replace those perfect rotors and 50% pads. I'm an engineer, not an auto mechanic, but so glad I do all my own car work. I must have saved thousands over the years not paying for stuff that doesn't need doing, but doing what is needed in a timely fashion.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheOnespeedbiker says:

Coming from a complete novice, I always hand tighten a couple of lug nuts against the rotor so it doesn't move around when I'm mounting the caliper. Not a big deal with this configuration, but when the caliper needs to be mounted in one piece it makes the process much easier. That is especially true when you need to line up threaded pins through the caliper, while its mounted on the rotor.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kevin Basden says:

For a single cylinder caliper you can always use a C-clamp of the right size.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars michael deegan says:

I know your in Florida I notice you did not clean off the hub before putting on rotor

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kasual Skeptik says:

OMG, those brakes are cleaner than my kitchen floor…. Huh ?
Like you said, they are bypassing the "diagnostic phase", and jumping straight to "parts cannon"..
The service desk to call them once more and clarify the issue, and if they're adamant about replacing part, then they can't say you didn't try…

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sam shearer says:

Dogs in the driver’s lap pisses me off. Same as someone using a cellphone. I think both are illegal here(NC) as they should be but not very enforced. On the other hand my Uncle always had a rat terrier that road in his lap head out the window. They never wrecked. His car’s were always Falcons and that was back in the day. Down in Ft Myers.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jack smith says:

You dont seat the pads after replacing pads and rotors or even just pads? Drive up to 30mph brake to 0 within 30 seconds three times, same thing up to 40. Then drive for 10mins using brakes as less as possible n dont come to a stop if you can. This seats the pads evenly n burns all the crap off. Some pads n rotors even come w directions that say to do it

Customer is always is right until the problem is still there and blames the shop bc it was the wrong part to fix the problem

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars italiano5187 says:

I have a WRX, and the exact same thing happened to two of my lug nuts when changing over to my winter set.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Kendrick says:

I'm not watching your videos no more cuz you're too high price

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Kendrick says:

I'll tell you get work down there high price you charge people and stuff here where I'm at and in Oklahoma it's a lot cheaper than where you at your damn too damn f**** high I don't see how the f*** you get work you son of a b**

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Combs says:

If I'm going to get my hands dirty I replace anything cheap I touch. Pads and rotors are cheap. Now calipers are a different story. More expensive and you have to bleed the brakes. Calipers stay until they are toast.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars R I says:

Man…last saturday I bought new rotors and brake "shoes" for my 1997 Peugeot 504 and changed all those, cleaned thoroughly that area, even painted the supports, calipers and part of the rotors with epoxy, almost the same shade of grey (obnouxious stuff that paint, thanks God I was in a well ventilated area! )…and in some part I heard myself saying "niiiice and clean!" and even my spouse came to ask why was Ilaughing so loudly! my answer? "Like Master, like pupil!" (she did not understand, and went away mumbling something about my years of motorcycling diong something wrong with my brain..) Hopefuly She did not hear whenever I said "click!" after tightening every bolt…

You allways do a great jb

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jon Clark says:

You are right. My grandfather would say if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I understand the part where you said the customer can come and sue the shop I’ve seen it done.

I was crossing street and heard a dog bark, looked up and then car with dog rear ended another car. Dog was killed by air bag and owner was severely hurt…they were going maybe 8 mph (fast enough to set off air bag but not much damage) driver didn’t quite stop at intersection I’m guessing she was distracted by bark or couldn’t see

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars robert buchalski says:

Now you know why he is getting brakes. Could not remove wheel

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars robert buchalski says:

Maybe the person is selling vehicle, and want to state in just had a complete brake job. ??__$$$$^^

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tommy Gordon says:

I changed the factory pads on my 2012 Fusion at under 10K miles because the factory pads created too much brake dust and kept my wheels constantly dirty! I installed better quality pads than factory!

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tracy Owen says:

The customer could have been doing it for preventive maintenance

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kelly W says:

Probably giving car to kid or someone. Brand new brakes.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Charles Lloyd says:

I fix computers and networks for a living, I feel your pain.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wyndm Clark says:

Honestly who cares they wanted it done they get it done I wouldn't even give a shit easy peasy money it's their car their parts their money they can do whatever the hell they want as long as I get paid in the end that's all I care about. Oh and I would have also torque the caliper bracket and the slide bolts to spec but that's just me. I would have also put the car back down on the ground instead of jamming a screwdriver into the other wheel but hey we all do things differently. And this is all my opinion.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wyndm Clark says:

Honestly that little rubber thingy should have never moved when you wiped off that slide a lot of times what ends up happening whoever did the brakes before you probably sprayed brake cleaner to get most of that grease off which ends up screwing up that little rubber thingy they're supposed to be nice and tight and sit snug on that slide I would have ordered a slide kit and replaced it. It should never take a hammer to bang it into place. But that's just my professional opinion. I would also put some anti-seize on that hub and next time instead of banging it right on the rotor itself if you hit it between the lugs it'll usually pop off pretty easy. But that's my opinion. I know we all do things different completely just after 25 years I like doing things as easy as possible. And honestly after watching your videos the next shop I open up I'm going to make all my technicians where cameras so that way I can look at their work it's kind of hard to be a shop owner and watch five different mechanics at once but if they're all wearing cameras boy that make life so much easier that way if I have ever issues in the future with a customer I know exactly who to blame. Great idea I think all mechanics should wear cameras.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kevin Hill says:

Eyechrometer……I am going to borrow that! 👌😛

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chuck Walker says:

Open the master cylinder cap and opening the caliper will be a lot easier.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Duzan says:

I bought front and rear pads in 2008 and have replaced them at 50 percent ever since because the parts co. warranties them as long as there's material on them. I haven't paid for pads since!

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Duzan says:

The customer isn't always right, but they're always your boss!

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ben Peterson says:

I would bet that more accidents are than any stats would prove. Those same idiots who allow their pets onto their laps would NEVER admit to being at fault not to mention their precious baby doing anything to cause it.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joseph bradshaw says:

If you had heated up those brakes presenting a condition of heavy use like a steep hill I believe you would have felt the brakes vibrate from that incorrectly installed lug nut. Incorrectly torqued lugs almost always causes warp age and vibration issues. I replaced so many brand new rotors for that reason alone or had to turn them.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars numberyellow says:

my guess: Customer is kinda dumb. Probably had the rears done at another shop, that shop told them (in an attempt to scam them) that the fronts need to be done too…other shop was probably either kinda rude, or too pricey, so customer says "maybe later", buys the parts on the cheap, and brings it to your shop, thinking it actually needed to be done, but just didn't want to give the business to the other shop.

Probably should have tried to get more info.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars pepe la pew says:

    You are right.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars al klapaxida says:

yea a bit of lube on the rear end is always good to keep things running , ,

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! Bob Wilson says:

Maybe the guy is gonna drive up to the mountains ! Who knows … right .

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Peter Out says:

Customer possibly knew the lug nut was seized and put the responsibility onto the shop to sort out.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Silent Woodfire says:

Might as well hold onto those parts for future use

  50. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars NeutronicalGaming says:

Could be a bunch of reasons, maby the owner doesn't like the brake feel anymore, maby the owner carries a lot of heavy items and wants a good safety margin, or maby they want to take it off-roading or on a track day or something and they want new brakes for that, or possibly they just have the money and want to do it before it becomes an issue, paranoia, ignorance, safety, who knows pick your poison.
