One thing that movies have taught me is the practicality of tiny stickers used to cover up dashboard lights wherever needed.
Rodent poop, would lead me to check for chewed wires for the ABS.
If mine at 300,000 miles, I'd say just do the valve cover gaskets and an oil change.

It's neat that you/your shop can even properly diagnose & repair ABS-related problems. I thought you'd have to return to the dealership for stuff like that.
What am I sitting in is exactly what I was thinking when you opened the door. Do these vehicles smell in the heat when you open them?

This is what happens now. We create junk vehicles that still work. So many things are so expensive to repair now that it is not economical to do the repair, so you just trash the vehicle. We create garbage out of things that are not garbage. How environmentally friendly is that? Plus the environmental cost of manufacturing a brand new vehicle to replace it.
Airliners are made so that it is economical to repair them for at least 30 years. How come our cars can not be made the same way.
Why does this guy mostly work on POS Fords?
I'm glad my 85 and 86 Chevy/GMC trucks don't have all these lights. Same with my 95 Ford dually.
I bet there are some service techs who wouldn’t mind a few minutes in a locked room with the Ford engineers who decided that was a good mounting location for the ABS pump. On vehicles I’ve owned over the last 45 years or so, it has always been the braking systems which have most frequently required service. Engineering lesson: put stuff needing fixing where it can be fixed. Drive it til the wheels fall off is the right choice for this van.

Of course, it has to be considered I'm always 'Broke' so I have a good excuse, and even if I could afford the repairs, I wouldn't invest that much ca$h into a 300K-miles vehicle
That hood latch reminds me of my 79 Z28. It was always stuck. At least there was a lot of room to work on the engine. It was a very strong engine. 350 4speed with some mods. Too bad they were rust buckets. A buddy bought the drivetrain and the scrapyard gave me 500$. Not a good ROI for the 9k I paid for it new.
Ray, I’ve noticed the top end of the speedometer on a lot of vehicles you’ve worked on. This particular vehicle has a top end of 130mph. I have always topped out my vehicles. The most surprising was my 2011 GMC Terrain. It topped out at 240 kph ( I’m in Canada, metric system ) it’s got the 2.4 liter 4 banger all wheel drive. I topped it out and it wanted to go faster. It also didn’t take long to get to that speed.
Typical Ford Transit. Loud engine noise in the cabin, oil leaks, (At least it’s a gasket. Older models spray oil out the oil pump spindle.) and error codes everywhere. Most of us Transit drivers learn the simple rule, if it’s amber, not it, if it’s red turn it off and on again. If the red stays out, ignore it. If it comes back on, get it towed to the workshop.
This was the second time you worked on that vehicle. Watched the first one right before this one same result customer wanting something for nothing.

Abs pumps and module should rarely go bad as the pump and motor only ever kick in when a wheel locks up.
If there is vermin droppings in the engine area I would check for a chewed wire.
I had a '92 Honda Accord that my anti-lock brakes went out associated with a huge ice and snow storm. Driving around on ice triggered my anti-lock brakes to activate very often, wearing them out. The mechanic said I was fine to keep driving the vehicle with the ABS light on. I did. I drove the car five additional years like that. The car later broke down for other reasons, leading to its disposal.
You can buy a used pump if needed (much cheaper).

At the very least even getting another van like it around the cost of fixing this one get one in better condition and keep this one at least for emergency backup and just drive it like it is until it completely reaches the end of it's life

I had a 2010 transit and what a piece of junk tranny went after 105,000 and i have 2 vehicles that are still runnong great at 320,000

I had the abs module go bad on my Avalanche a year out of warranty . They wanted $1200 plus labor . i said forget it and drove another 150 thousand miles without ABS.The brakes were much better without it. As far as i am concerned it is just a gimmick for women drivers to feel safe. The ABS on my 92 GMC Jimmy never worked right for the two years i kept it. They were exactly the same as on the S10 Pickup ,i know because i had one at the time. The dealer said no thats not true , it was because the part numbers were identical. T HHE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE jIMMY WAS 500 POUNDS HEAVIER.
$2.000.00 for an abs module? The van isn't worth much more than that as a used car.
I would drive it until it died. You will have a hard time getting a new one right now and if you do, it will cost you!

Dont blame them for not putting 2000 plus into a 1000 dollar van. I would drive it that way until something else broke.
