Tools, Tools, Tools!! I know you guys love them, so that's why I show them! To day I was busting out the OTC 6980 Heavy Duty Brake Drum and Rotor Puller to save me from beating a rotor to death just to get it off so I thought I'd pick up the camera and bring you along. Although this one popped off easy, rest assured this tool has saved my bacon a time or two! -Enjoy!

wonder why they don't just put those pullers along with the otc hub grappler. Astro pneumatic puts both puller accessories with there hub, drum and rotor puller kit. show me the money , scammers.

I remember a neighbor of mine trying to get a rusty rotor off a Jetta for about 45 minutes. I finally couldn't stand the sound of him pounding anymore. I brought my Proto drum / rotor puller over and had it off in a minute while he was in his house regrouping. Those tools work great.

6980…I have spent hours trying to get a drum or rotor off….waiting on pen. Oil, heat, hammer, sheering off the push out bolt meant for the drum…just DIY, but sheesh…seems like with all my vehicles and the constant Omaha rust, it is getting more difficult to simple projects like this. I gotta say this tool had me at hello. Exactly what I was looking for and isn't otc MaC tools?

    Have one, love it.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jdtractor man says:

I knew that was a Saturn Ion as soon as I saw it on the lift, the badge on the fender gave it away. C'mon man you know you can cut them rotors and be good as new, LMAO! Needless to say those rotors probably ate the pads that were on there. Go figure that rotor would just about fall off like that when you are trying to demonstrate that tool, that puppy will definitely come in handy in the rust belt.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Iam D says:

Imagining you beatin the tar out of the other rotor like Tarzan Unchained and then on the driver side hearing an imaginary wah, wah , wah, wahhh as the tool slides it off without a care. Nice one Eric! 😉

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kelly Giddens says:

I made my own out of a large 3 jaw gear puller that had 1 broken arm, used a couple large nuts and washers to hold it in a piece of oak 4×4, notched the ends to receive the arms mounted with some heavy duty nuts and bolts and works like a charm.

Here's one that gave me fits. I had the fuel pump changed at a shop where they installed a new pump in the old pump housing. In tank pump. I don't drive the car much but in six months the car died in degrees. Make a long story short I pulled the tank and found one screw that held the high pressure hose onto the pump was laying on the tank bottom and the other one was loose. I think one problem it being a 97 Taurus is the brittleness of the old pump housing plastic not holding the screws. Just a guess. Replaced with a new unit with sender. The new unit had done away with the screws and had a solid plastic retainer. You would need to take the unit apart to get the pump motor out. Not a job I would have tackled had I not watched a bunch of your fantastic videos. Thanks!!

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Darwin Dwelle says:

nice video. I'm a mechanic in South Georgia and thank goodness we don't have a lot of rust like that. I do work on some vehicles from up north occasionally and they are always a pain with all that rust. I couldn't imagine dealing with that all the time. keep up the good work.

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Charles Miller says:

I picked up one of those pullers at a pawn shop 30 years ago, kept it for 20 years, never knew what it was for, finally gave it away to someone who also didnt know what it was used for, that was 10 years ago. Now I finally know what the tool I dont own is used for !

I will have to call him and let him know.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Curtis Smith says:

    easy peasy

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars catranger01 says:

Fine threads do not exert any greater force over coarse threads. The force generated is purely a function of torque (in lbs) /( diameter (in) x fricition co-efficient (typically .15 to .2 depending on lube and finish). For example ( 250 ft lbs x 12in/ft) torque / (1" diameter x .2)= 15,000 lbs of force

  50. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pete Medina says:

    Cool tool.
