Motive Products sells a fairly affordable pressure bleeder, for shadetree guys, that looks like it's based on the DIY homemade ACE hardware weed sprayer pressure bleeder.
I built a weed sprayer pressure bleeder 25 years ago before Motive started selling theirs for less than it would cost me to build mine now. I still use the darn thing with some of the Motive Products MC caps LOL
It's a lovely vessel and I'm sure it's worth every penny.
I bleed brakes in my military truck using a garden sprayer. It compresses the fluid into the master cylinder making the bleed a one man process. Next trip out to the bone yard grab a master cylinder lid thats specific to your vehicle or the autoparts store.
Make that green cap from aluminium so that it stays flat and won't leak. Thanks for the tip on preventing sucking air when using a vacuum pump.
Would this help force air out of the master cylinder? Mine as air in it and vaccum/gravity and pedel pumping bleeding wont seem to get rid of it. I wanna avoid taking it off and bench bleeding if I can.

Cool. Hadn’t seen this video. I have a schwaben power bleeder that functions like that but with a smaller reservoir and hand pump to pressurize. Under $100 with a reservoir to catch fluid at the calipers.
Mine arrived today. Love it so far. Big expense with all the adapters, but no more asking my teenagers to pump the brake pedal.
Vacuum is what I use and yeah mighty vac…. Works great for a home system. Easy peazy lemon squeazy.

Thank you for the tip on how to bleed the master cylinder. I have the Powerbleeder system. I cracked the front bleeder, pushed the brake pedal 4-5 times and the pedal was back to the top with a hard pedal.
I did a disc brake conversion on a 68 f100, I can’t get a good pedal and am considering pressure bleeding. If I do I need to do anything with the proportioning valve.

When the grease on the nipple isn’t working properly add a spring clamp from a vacuum line. So remember grease and clamp nipple before sucking.

I tried putting grease around the bleeder screw, still got air so, I took the bleeder out wrapped five turns of Teflon tape around the threads. Put the bleeder screw back in hand tightened the screw, no more air coming away.
Get a big syringe from a drug store, for a dollar, put a clear hose on it. Now you have a vacuum brake bleeder for a few bucks.
Please respond…. if I run a loop from bleeder screw to master cylinder reservoir w/a tube and pump the brake pedal until solid fluid and repeat on all other bleeder screws will that flush and bleed the entire brake system properly

I have a similar pressure bleeding kit like the one used in this video. couple of questions:
– If you hook up the entire system and it continues to fill at a point of bursting, does this mean you have to lower the pressure from the regulator ?
– How do you flush the brake fluid used in this tool ? say you were using DOT 3 and some day you need to use it with DOT4 and DOT5 ?

Bought one of the $100 Motive bleeders off Amazon and a specific Honda adapter after using one of the awful $25 vacuum ones you hook up to your compressor and hope for the best. Best money I've ever spent on a car tool. Makes bleeding an absolute breeze. Great video, Eric.

Grease on the nipple. I was just fighting this problem a hour ago. I was about ready to punt my vacuum bleeder across the driveway.
I'd put the adapter on and pressurize the system without any brake fluid to ensure there is no pressure decay, once you eliminate any leaks, depressurize and fill with fluid. No mess.
Can you strain the old fluid , recycle ?
What about the brake fluid in the ABS system? Some cars have a closed ABS system which only opens when the ABS is activated. A normal brake fluid change/flush won’t get the fluid out of the ABS system. You need a computer scan tool to activate and auto bleed the ABS.

How about thread tape instead of grease on the nipple threads. I took a brake coarse and there was a big sign saying grease and mineral oil spell death or something like that. thread tape should work just as good but nice tip. I love your vids. It kills me when people say they would rather pay a pimple faced kid to work on there car than buy the tools and do it them selves. Once you own the tools your set for life. Plus the satisfaction knowing it's done right. It's like when you hear some sound coming from under your car If you crawl under it and its nothing critical then the sound doesn't bother you, but if you don't know what it is and your wife wants to take your kids to the store and you think what's if it's a ball joint that's ready to break`

Any tips for a s10 2003 rear drum brakes put new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, new brake shoes, and brakes still go to floor with truck running. I’ve tried power bleeding, vacuum bleeding, regular bleeding. I’m getting fluid but won’t build pressure. I’ve tried 2 master cylinders and same thing. I did bench bleed m/c and tried auto bleed on abs. Any advice appreciated. Love the videos very helpful and detailed.
Clean brake fluid gives better braking. Physicist explained that when moisture mixes with brake fluid it gets thicker, so change it !
Hey Eric I just purchased a Mity Vac system very similar to what you used in this video. But it is a pump up pressure style and not a pneumatic one like yours.
When using one of those to bleed brakes is it necessary to use a tool to lock/hold the brake pedal down inside the vehicle?
