Oh your panicking, some sheet metal screws to cover the hole and alumirod the rod and piston back together and its good for another 100k LOL
Did the owner decline service and ask you to put the shattered rod back through the hole?
I think that connecting rod is out of specification. It is too far away from the piston, probably not supposed to be so loose, even in a KIA engine?🤣🤣🤣
My mom's KIA Sedona right around 110k miles threw a rod. Maintenance was spot on and oil was full. Still have no idea why it happened but I guess it's common with KIA. Just sad.

Happened to me once. 1968 Super Bee > Broke crank in three places. Engine- 413 cu. in. solid flat tap cam. Rebuilt it and kept on driving.
In Australia we say, if buying a Kia or Hyundai secondhand make sure you price a secondhand engine and gearbox to go in it just to be on the safe side we don’t pay anything for them as little as possible,,
watching this, how does one oil change potentially cause this much damage? wrong oil viscosity? not enought oil? leak? or would something settle in the oil change from previous damage?

My call is big let go first, then the crank smashed the “disconnecting” off the piston and through the side. Based on the colour at the big end. Makes very little difference though.

Kia had a recall for wrist pins I sent a friend to kia with same damage and the told her she didn't do all recalls BTW it blew up a couple of weeks after kia serviced

KIA GO BOOM. Typical, love the new inspection ports it made. Junk from day 1.
All these negative comments about the engine being toast. PSSSHHHH that's weight reduction right there kids. Less mass mean faster zoom zoom! Seriously, ouch!

Used to work for a company that did telephone surveys, one major contract was for customer satisfaction reviews of Kias. It was a close to 50/50 split of good vehicle to lemon. Those things used to have a 50% depreciation rate just by driving them off the lot.
Are people ignorant of the Kia/Hyundai Theta engine problems? Why would you own one past the warranty period or mileage?? Pretty interior, awful engine!! Almost worse than VAG vehicles!

that engine has a lifetime warranty, have them take it to a dealership. mines been there for 6 months waiting for a new motor.

KIA's new "self-ventilating block" feature. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the engine either suffered from lack of maintenance, or someone lead-footed it into oblivion.

Friend has a Hyundai Tucson 2.0, 2017. Super low miles. Crankshaft bearings gave up. Dealer Serviced. Got a new engine on Hyundai/KIA. Lousy vehicles.

Old School term for that was "Throwing a leg out of bed". No oil or contaminated oil caused the big end to seize and wow you can literally see how it's tried to wrap itself around the crank in this one.

Amazing amount of force in those rotating contraptions. Once saw a 4' section of 1" diameter chrome molly oil well pump rod that had four nice180 degree bends after being dropped down a 1000' of the well casing. My buddy torched it off, to save as a souvenir.

I'll go ahead and put Jiffy Lube on blast. The filter has 4459 written on it with 2 signatures on it which just happens to be procedure there. Yea i worked at one part time for about 1 year for a little extra cash. Plus I was able to cherry pick customers and get them to go to my shop which was the full time job. They will hire just about anyone. Doesn't matter how much knowledge I can give to the person. If they have no business working on vehicles then THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS WORKING ON VEHICLES. Hope they cant get what they can but most likely they will rgue out if it since they will claim "another shop touched it" I wish them luck.
And Kia kids will argue with you all day long, that Kia's are great reliable cars 🤣
