    Hi,
I am from Germany and love your videos. There are some interesting difference between your art of work and the way they do the things here. One is that you record the video by yourself. Wow not easy to film and work at the same time. So thank you and go on with your videos.

I have to laugh when non-mechanics throw parts at an issue, hoping that one fixes the problem. Sometimes, experience with a particular vehicle makes it more likely that a time-consuming diagnosis is not necessary, but in most cases, following a shop manual troubleshooting step-by-step procedure is ideal.

Your best videos are the most catastrophic and involve total neglect and forbidden mustard overflows. HVAC good too, some homes require moon suits due to hygiene.

I am guessing that flow chart is from All Data. That must be an expensive service to subscribe to.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Peter Nedyalkov says:

This was one of the more complicated procedures here, thanks God the engineers have come up with these beautiful step by step instructions.

2001 Ford Escape, bad ECU. Nobody but nobody could diagnose the failure. Replaced all the ignition coils. No ECUs available anywhere to test or even buy. Finally the dealership found one that had been ordered but never used sitting on someone’s shelf. $1800? In the end the car ran beautifully for many more years but the economical thing to do would have been to total it. 10 years and you can’t expect your dealer to have any parts for your car. This is when I decided to quit buying new Fords.

Reminds me of a problem I had. My car would die. No rhyme or reason as to when it would die. Took it to a small auto repair place my brother recommended. I asked the owner if they had a computer thing to put on my car to tell them what was wrong. He told me yes. So, I left the car there. apparently over night the battery went dead (I never had trouble with it) so when I went to get the car, they charge me for repairs and the battery, and I leave. I get about a mile away and the car died again. It always starts again. So, I drove it back. They worked on it some more, charged me and I leave. (I forget what they said they did) I go around the block and pull into restaurant parking lot. Get my food and try to leave and it won't start. I was half a block from the mechanic and so I walked over, this time I was hot under the collar. One of the mechanics walks across the street, pulls a module of some sort out of the fire wall area, says now try to start it. It started. He has me drive back to the shop. They order a new module and plugs it in and charges me again. nearly $1000.00 later and it was a stupid, less than 100.00 module. I told the owner that I should get my money back on all the other work because it did not fix the problem, and why didn't their computer tell them what the problem was. He said they don't have a computer. I told him I asked first thing when I went there, and that is why I left me car, he told me that he never said he did, because he doesn't. I never went back there, and I bad mouthed them every chance I got.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stetsonhatman says:

I had to laugh the first time Ray said, “You guys watch for a spark I’ll go turn it over”. 20 k voices yelled there’s no Spark! Loved the TS flowchart – wow was that remarkably detailed. Great vid Ray

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars lynskyrd says:

another great video… printing the flowchart- then methodically going through the steps instead of just ordering parts and crossing your fingers. Well done sir.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars randy beard says:

Most all Mechanics including Ray knew if no fire to Spark Plugs, it was Coil or Control Module…

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars XR8 Sprint says:

Distributor systems are a pain in the ass, from the ignition coil to the distributor it self shitting it self was always a nightmare for one of my older cars. It was my first car and had to replace something in this system every 6 months lol. Coil packs are so much better to diag them and they just don't randomly shit them self every 6 months.
