2 Toyota dealerships told me to reuse the strainer , lol I would rather just replace it
It's been my experience that the aftermarket filters are not even remotely similar to the factory ones. Better to leave the factory one in forever than replace it with the aftermarket ones.
Mechanics like this dude are saving me ass tons of money its unreal.
Like when i learned how to do my struts and go into my local shop and get a quote for strut installation and they want like 800$ for front and rear……I just ask like im interested but im really there for renewing my registration for emissions and think to myself how much of a rip off that is.
It took me maybe an hour for my front struts and i paid like 75$ total for the front….
Like thats 725$ im just sitting there with, you could buy literally every tool and thing you need for under 725$ so you could do these repairs indefinetaly, and thats just comparing the quote for a strut job!
They want 100-150$ for transmission change and sometimes thats just for new fluid, no flush, not even a new gasket or filter…

J have toyota camry1992 2.2 liters 1992 100kw transmitions fluids are black and all 4 forward speed is loose. Now j can only drive in reverse. If j change fluids and filter did 4 forward speed will back .Did someone toyota owners have similar problems and how he solved

I have a question, what do you do if your Camry has no dipstick. How can I be sure of proper fluid level. I believe my torque converter is causing my 2011 to violently and suddenly shudder between 25 and 50 mph. Any help would be appreciated

2002-06 camry's have a heavy beam covering 3 or 4 bolts that you just can't zip out
When people change transmission fluid , you are suppose to change all of the fluid just like the motor oil or rearend fluid or transfer cases
What about the rest of the old fluid.
I just replaced the Transmission Filter on my daughter's 2002 Camry. I unbolted the left engine mount and used a bottle jack to rock the left end if the engine upward. I was able to use an inch pound torque wrench to retighten all of the drain pan screws.

back in the good old days when they had regular fill and drains on transmissions now my camry has the dam goofy fill tube nonsense to make it a pain in the ass to change fluid
Looked like a Good Job, you did it as I would, except I change the Crush washer, just a personal pref. One thing I have to say is that old trans Fluid looked Bad, well no sign of Pink.

Looks as if the strainer provided by Toyota really doesn’t “filter”…..my 2011 doesn’t have a dipstick/filler… it is a plug on the drivers side of the transmission…. I think, since the “filter” is just a screen, that I will pull the trans cooler line and run new fluid through until I see new fluid. Coming out (6 quarts)… Good info here in the video….
I would use toyota transmission fluid if it's like mopar atf4 it is very special

Where is the drain for the transmission located
Best way to check was to drive it and check fluid with engine turned off while still hot instead of idling for me. When engine idles it causes smears on dipstick
I have a 2012 Camry SE 2.5 liter 4 cylinder with a sealed transmission and made an appointment with the dealership to get the fluid changed. They quoted me 280 originally but after I brought it in they said it would be closer to 700 because it requires taking the pan off. Any advice on other places that can do this service cheaper than the dealership? Thanks
Very good video. I was hoping you would provide torque specs for tightening the drain pan screws, like you did for the transmission filter screws.
My son has a 2001 Camry LE and it's easy to access all the screws to get the transmission drain pan off. My daughter has a 2002 Camry LE and accessing all the transmission drain pan screws can be a challenge and sometimes you feel like you have to unmount the engine to access all the screws. But, I have seen some Youtube videos where the DIY mechanic was able to use displaced 10 mm hand wrenches to access the difficult screws without un-mounting the engine.

Can Toyota atf type t-iv mix with dexron iii? After reading the manual, dexron iii is the right fluid to be used. I have a 1MZ-FE engine, so it would take up to 3.5 qts?

Just watched Scotty Kilmer video on changing trans fluid, he states that you shouldn't change trans fluid that's never been changed after 150k ,he states that new fluid will actually harm transmission & cause slipping. What do you think about this situation ? I was going to change the fluid in my rav4 150k, looks black, but now unsure, Any info appreciated.

the problem with using adhesive like that is that when the fluid comes in contact with the adhesive the adhesive will break loose clump up and plug the filter and starve the transmission of oil
Hey Eric. The manual on my Toyota says to use thread sealer on the trans bolts. Did you use the blue sealer on these.
My 2000 has metal shavings in it at 150k and has some rough shifting when letting off and getting back on the gas. I am hoping new fluid and filter will clean this up!
When you're not removing all your flowed out usually uses that ATF condition violence or the stop slip here one helps to revitalise use flood in stopping smalle seal leaks that you may encounter in future
