Got to Change out All the Fluids in my 2008 Ford 4×4–front and rear Diff. and Transfer Case, already did the Tranny–98,000….

Hi Ray,I like the way you go through the car's and diagnose the problems. I'm 75 years old and I have worked on car's back in the 70s at dealership named Orsinger Buick. I started as a porter, then started changing oil on customer car's, then went to Houston Texas to learn mechanic and started buying tools from snap tool's. After six months as a rookie mechanic someone broke into the mechanic shop and stole all my tools. So I had to go back to changing oil,because the dealer didn't have insurance for our tools. Love your videos and keep up the amazing work. 👏

Awesome video but Jesus that gear oil smells like a woman's bathroom after taco Tuesday. Anyhow I was always told to add Ford's friction modifier when changing out the rear gear oil. Any truth to that??

Never again will I get a rear, AWD or a 4WD. I have only used my rear wheel drive around 60 seconds and I have owned mine for 7 years. Not worth all of the maintenance issues and costs. I will stick with 4 cylinder FWD vehicles.

I didn't read all the comments, but I need to point this out. The sealant all the way around the holes isn't always necessary, however, on this application it is ABSOLUTELY necessary. Some of the bolts for the cover go into the pumpkin. They are through holes. Therefore, the sealant should eke all the way around the bolts in order to properly seal them up.
The diff end oil looked great!

Some techs on the ‘Tube first snug down the diff cover bolts, then wait a spell for the sealant to cure a little and then torque. Seeing how you do it I can’t think it really matters.
Studies show that less than 5% of brake cleaner is used for brakes.
What, no clear, compound and ceramic on that diff cover?

Why play around with the silicone instead of just using a gasket? Would save all that clean and prep time on the next time and you wouldn't have to guess about sealing.

Get a sure shot and 5 gallon pail of CRC Brakleen. Way better than using those cans.
I still don't know why many carmakers wont put a drain on the axle My Toyota pick up and rear wheel drive Datsun (R200 3.15) have drain holes.
