I like your idea of a show to test mechanic's ability to build something with just junkyard parts. NO NEW PARTS either! I think there was a competition sometime, somewhere that had high school shop students fix cars that were broken and they didn't have any clues as to what was wrong. I think it was sponsored by GM, but don't quote me on that.

eric, Do you no that your favorite test light is made by Dorman!!! Ha that's the truth Lady!!!!

Hey Eric you are by far the best you tube mechanic out there and I really enjoy your videos I think Iโ€™ve watched them all. I enjoy how you take a lot of pride in your work and the detail in them. Keep up the great work and keep those videos coming!

Personally I watch as many as I can, I find the internal works of different vehicles interesting and your videos cover a wide variety of different tasks for different models which is great, my family primary likes Chevy but I've got no real preference.

No safety inspections in IL either, we get EPA every 2 years. But no inspection or property tax….. they screw us other way instead.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars D Jelonek says:

Flate rate is great for the shop, however, it sucks for the tech, sucks for the customer and sucks for the life of the vehicle. Seen some great mechanics turn into butchers when times running out…. Only thing worse is an owner that promises crap same day and forgets to tell you till quit time.

The Junk Yard show would be great, I don't have cable tv either, but I do have youtube TV.
I really enjoy your videos, makes my day, your skills, instruction, and humor are the best on all of youtube. I'm 43 and am not a mechanic, but you inspire me to try to fix things on my own cars first.
Sad note, I've lost 2 great dads, I'm thankful I have my mom still, but I feel the hurt often, and no country songs, lol.
Love the show, keep it going if it makes you happy. I'm thankful for you, always will be.
Take care and God Bless you and your family.

the knowledge you share has stimulated my mind and saved me thousands of dollars; the life you share has warmed my heart and uplifted my spirit. you are charismatic, experienced, intelligent, wise, driven, professional, disciplined, fair, honest, kind, stoical, modest, a comedian, an artist, a surgeon, a family man, a hunter, a warrior, a problem solver, a lord and savior to the desperate customer, a source of motivation, a source of pride, a rare breed. you have earned my respect and support until the day i die.

Little bit of the feels there after Markyโ€™s comment (24minutes in). But I second what he said. I have watched many of your vids, even the longer ones that push an hour. I feel like Iโ€™m in the shop with you and it really does encourage me to get out and work on my own projects! Glad you decided to make videos, and hope you keep it up. Even if itโ€™s just brake jobs or wheel bearings. Administer the beans!

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alan Sauer says:

Hi. I watch all of your videos. However I never came across one where you changed the water pump and timing belt on one of those foreign cars. I have a 2004 2.0L Jetta. I bought it used, didn't know much about it. Well the belt slipped and took out my engine. $2000 for used motor and clutch installed. I wonder your thoughts on those interference motors. Maybe show us how to do the job. Thanks. Your a great mechanic.

I live in upstate NY and I've been pondering a question. How much does salt damage your car? Apples to apples comparison it you placed a car of your choice in upstate NY vs Florida, what is the life expectancy difference of the vehicles if both were treated the same? I'm of the belief no one in the rust belt should finance a vehicle longer than 3 year up here because they're loan will last longer than their vehicle.

Hey there, Mr.O…first, I'm truly sorry for your family's losses…it'll be 21 years, April 16th since I lost my Dad, and I still have days that I need to go be by myself for awhile…he was and still is my Hero, taught me more about truckin' than I could ever learn in any school…the best school in my opinion is experience…anyway, I watch your videos every chance I get, have much respect for your business practices and ethics, that's getting harder to find these days, and have learned quite a bit from you as I have a hard time working on later model vehicles…my fat hands and skinny wires don't get along very well…hope you and yours have a great weekend, just wanted to send condolences from Lenoir, NC…y'all speed safely and take care.

Hey, Eric! Enjoy watching your videos just as much as working on cars! I have a question: recently I got a project, an audi tt from the auction with the rear end damage which I'm rebuilding. The damage was mainly to the rear qt panel where the body was all fixed. But now while I drive it I get brake bulsation during braking. Not big deal right? Replaced rear rorors/pads and resurfaced front rotors since they were around 500 new. Pulsation still there. Blamed rear bearing/hub (maybe bent in accident since it was hit in that side) altho cannot prove it with micrometer. Replaced bearing, pulsation still there. Not sure what else would couse it. Ideas? Or can you cover it in one of your videos maybe. Thanks!

I'm a little late but quick question. Is there a way to access professional wiring diagrams that include pins like you have for the DIY mechanic without paying a heap of cash?

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike S says:

Man I'm reluctant to say this, compare a tech channel guy to Eric, but some things just seem similar. Reminds me of Linus from Linus tech tips. He's a little younger than Eric, but has kids that around the same age I think. Two workaholics, who were especially workaholics when starting up their businesses. Now both seem to have very good businesses. Linus recently posted that he might slow down a bit though. (link removed, I think it's making my post not show up) I don't think Eric would ever step away from SMA, but I'd love to see you become a teacher one day like scannerdanner, I think you would love it. Would probably be better for your health and your body too. I know you might need to get your ASE ABC's for that job which you're not a fan of, but.. I think you'd pass those tests easily. Not really sure what I'm getting at with my post, or why I'm posting this, but I'm bored, just sayin my thoughts. Been a viewer for years, love your vids, hope you don't take any of this the wrong way. Not sure how you could, but I worry a lot.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Addicted To Bedrock says:
