Hi Eric O I love your channel if i were to ask a question would you mind offering a bit of advice on a 2008 caliber with throttle issues. ive tested my brains out cant seem to find the issue i use your techniques alot they always help but im stumped and usually im able to jsolve the problems fairly quick. the circuit seems to test ok got 5V ref. signal wire is like 2.5 not sure about this one then two motor wires for control supopose to switch poolarities. when tested both seem to have 12V positive on both wierd yet they arent shorted together both have continuity to pcm and seem to go directly from pcm to throttle body. only other wires are the tps not sure how to test these any advice im about to try a Pcm. car ran fine lost power from main relay wire broke fixed wire and it starts again but no throttle control since.

Did she send you to an Optometrist or an Ophthalmologist? An Optometrist is not an MD eye doctor but an Ophthalmologist is an eye doctor. I would never let an Optometrist fool around with my eye but I would buy glasses from an Optometrist.

Apart from the really great videos which makes you different to lots of other technicians, you would be surprised how 'Skilled' you are. I employed 35+ technicians in a large non franchise workshop and finding people who can make a logical diagnosis was very difficult. Lots of guys are good at changing stuff (rusty or not!) which is sometimes enough. looking after a modern vehicle from headlights through to tail lights requires a technician, not a mechanic. I think you under estimate the rarety of your skills especially when combined with an ability to communicate. You would likely say it's just 'Common Sense', perhaps you have failed to appreciate that these days Common Sense is a Super Power!

No matter how much you learn 5- 10 or 15 years later every thing completely changes. You still need that basic mechanical, electronic ability which some never get. After so many years It's like you become part of that thing. I tell people that computer's are nothing special nothing to fear just a stupid machine. With out a human input one screw falls out one lose wire it's junk scrap mettle and plastic.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Del Whylie says:

In about 1998 I went to a class to be a certified mechanic for T-444 HUIE fuel injected electronic diesel's. International's and Fords were just starting to use them engines. The fellow doing the class started with 'your world as a mechanic has just changed'. Before today your work was 90% mechanical and 10% electronics. From here on out it will be 10% mechanical and 90% electronics. I was lucky there was one guy who worked for International who I could call that was involved in the actual building and placing these engines in International bus's. They were already in Ford trucks and pickups. I was there 2 1/2 years before going to college for 2 years for computer tech. 18 years buying, selling, fixing Windows computers. Now every one is using their I-Phones and I-Pads. Believe it or not Desktop's and laptops are on the way out. What a World we live in…

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Del Whylie says:

Been a mechanic, welder / computers started at twelve making go-carts, mini bikes with fixing lawn mowers, motor cycles, cars trucks, tractors, on to electronic diesel school bus's, I owned operated Exhaust Benders 26 years. I was Head mechanic for small School dist. 2 1/2 years 35 vehicles. not including the tractors, lawn mowers, skid steer and backup generators. Every thing changed many times over the years.

You should put a patch over your eye, all the blinking makes it heal a lot slower

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Yumpin Yiminy says:

Supersized you don't have a eye wash station. Never rub and irritated eye due to a particulate. Use distilled or some like dry eye wash. How do I know? Since I was a young teenager I had bad allergies. Worse in the spring. I would wake up with my eye lids swollen and crusted over bad enough that my lid muscles could not break them open. My dogs (in YouTube pic) pawed my left eye twice. Hurt like ^*%#. I had to go to my eye doctor everyday the every other etc. He would stick a needle in my eye to pick out the dirt so the cut lens would not heal ever the crap in my eye. I'm shocked Mrs. "O" didn't make you go sooner. 😜👏

Eric, do have any idea as to why the "key in the ignition or the door ajar" bell or alarm will NEVER die? I have left a customer's car door open on purpose overnight to see if the sob would die. They WILL NOT die. But my cell phone charger can and did.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JROBERT FREEMAN says:

Hi Sir, I hope your eye is continuing to get better. I have a 01 Town Car and the core plug on the driver side rear of the engine has sprung a leak. Have you done a video about this kind of repair? What kind of hack can you give me on replacing this plug WITHOUT removing the whole engine or partially removing stuff to lean engine forwards to gain room? Or is removing the engine the only option? I am working in my backyard with mostly hand tools. Thank you for your time and input. you are a great person and I Luv what you do for us shade-tree mechanics. You and your family stay healthy!
