In the first minutes when you checked how much freon was required you said 1.6 lbs but you put 1.4 lbs. What's up
Wear PPE with that SH!T
I love " Das ist nicht gut" where you learn German language?
I like your videos so much. For me as a German it seems Florida is hot and sometimes ants live I a car. Last time a was in Florida was 1989. I have a lot great remembers to that time in the Us.
Go on Ray.😉
my old boss use to charge customers for every can of cleaner and ante seeze we used no mater if a full can was used or not , well he needed the money to keep the lights on for his $1,000,000.00 + cottage …
Oh just pull the dash already 😂They're not that bad. No I'm not a mechanic, but yes I have done it before on my truck. Replaced my heater core and evap core along with one of the refrigerant hard lines, the compressor, and the dryer/filter. Been problem free ever since. Hardest part about it is getting the motivation to do it, and paying for the parts 😂the job itself really isn't hard. It's about 5 or 6 screws on top, few nuts and screws on the bottom, for the dash, and about 5 nuts on the firewall and a couple wiring harnesses to pull (possibly a vacuum tube or two to pull as well) to pull the hvac box. (for mine anyway) granted yours may be a bit harder since you got a dirtymax that takes up the whole engine bay…shoulda got a cummins! 😉 I kidd, I kidd. Long as it ain't a mid 90's chevy 6.5L (injection pump electronics burn out quickly on them due to crap design) or a ford 6.0 (again poor engineering)…they're all decent engines that will last a very long time👍
Baby steps Ray
Need to disable the daytime running lights.
Now, the real question is what was plugging it up?
The correct repair would make for an awesome video series.
Hi ,i noticed that you didn't ck. the orifice tube in the line for particles, was this checked before you made the video? Great videos Ray!
Bad plug in evaporator. Likely quick flush onlly dissolned n blew out part of the gunke.
Fill evaporator with flush n let set over weekend, then blow out.
Evap fins may also be plugged with leaves dust balls. Can u get a compressed air blow tube in there?
Sounds like the ac syn lube failed n gummed up. Compressor will also be gummed. Flush it, lines n condensor
I'm always amazed at how quiet those Duramax diesels are. It runs like a whisper inside a library.
Your speaking like a chipmunk
Don't do drugs Ray.
Charge spec was 1.6 pounds, you charged 1.4
A system that is 10% under charged results in a 50% reduction in oil flow through the system.
Ray, I notice you have what looks to be the stock LLY air intake on your truck, do you plan on swapping that out to mitigate the airflow issues that factory intake causes?
Extremely helpful! AC repair costs so damn much so anyone who will show me how to diagnose them myself is a friend indeed
Ray, you do know you have competent mechanics working right next to you that you can rope into doing you a favor and tearing the dash apart if it comes to that! You don’t have to do all the hard work!
Yeah! I can't wait to bring it by ❤
I understand you don't wanna take the dash apart, however, you could pay someone else to do it! LOL
Nice pouring skills. You can pour me a drink anytime.
Waz wondering that Ray went after EVAP 1st and not the Orifice type expansion valve. I'd never found anything but exploded desiccant stuff plugging stuff. Hadn't seen info on congeled oil dye blockage before , no doubt a long term only, creation. You can bet customer vehicle fix would include nu drier, Orifice and complete system flush , fresh re-oil for 'No Come Bak' repair
What brand air fittings does your shop use?
I thought your truck needed 1.6 lbs. of refrigerant. You put 1.4 lbs. I'm confused.
Ray, Ray, Ray…..the specs said 1.6.
How sloppy is your steering wheel?
The exact same reason why I discourage anyone asking me for a/c advice from using those refill cans from big box stores. Since they don't come with a high pressure gauge, you're not getting the full diagnosis. Average joes will just empty the whole can over filling the system
Mmm, PAG oil. One of the lowest on the list of things I'd like to be showered in at work.
You must get a huge discount doing your own work.
The caps were lost forever when you blew off the tray below the windshield wipers with your assault air gun!
ray do you have to pay labor on your truck if you work on it in the shop. or is it just the parts and stuff you use at you job?
You did not change service ports, lol
What do you think plugged it??? Do you run it on air
recirculate???
The 350psi indicates that the condenser is at 173*. The major cause of the high pressure is that the system can’t reject heat. Something is keeping the condenser from being cooled. Fan, plugged condenser fins, accumulation between the radiator and condenser, plugged radiator, something is.. Try running water over the condenser to cool it. A restriction that blocks refrigerant flow would prevent the system from picking up heat out of the cab. The low flow, lack of heat transfer would cause the suction to go low. With no flow( heat) going into the condenser the condenser would be cooled and the pressure would drop to below normal. High pressure in AC systems is heat. A new evap won’t fix it , the same that flushing it didn’t. I’m sure the drop in outlet temp is because the condenser was getting some air. As shown by the drop in high pressure.
It sucks pulling a Chevy dash! Now if it was a 2006 Dodge you can have the dash out in 20 minutes.
Eh there you go you just might have to replace that condenser for the sake of mileage. Oh by the way I like your magic tricks! I learn something new from every video.
TY,,,,,,WOW incredible very interesting super kool ,1st class great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ again great video I liked it a lot ,keep up the great work.
I had a very similar problem a few years ago. It seemed to be a restriction as the high side went thru the roof. I've always done my own AC work but hated working with the AL fittings. and the expansion valve was in a bad spot. I took it to a local shop and they hooked it up. The service manager came out and told me my compressor was locked up, I needed a new compressor, evaporator, receiver/dryer and condenser. Over $2.2k. I told him the compressor is NOT locked up because I had worked on it and knew it was fine since the clutch did lock in and it did build a lot of pressure. He went back to talk to his mechanic, came back and said it had a noise when running. HUH? How could it have a noise running if it was locked up? I paid $60 and drove away. Went a small independent guy. He did pretty much the same as you did, which I didn't have the tools to do. $240 later and it still works fine.
Edit I said expansion valve. That show my age. I meant orifice tube. Some terms stick in my head.
Than you !! I have always been mechanically inclined and can fix just about any thing. My weakness has been technical troubleshooting with cars. Your videos and expertise have helped me so much! I also love your sense of humor. keep them coming. Thank you.
Dude I really need some advise from you about my car lol. 2018 tuscan. 175k . Yes drive a. Shit ton. When AC on I had overheating before. Got my temp sensor changed. Seems ok now but my rpms on at idle on drive fall to 500 and come back up to 650 and I feel the engine tremble.
Don't know about you truck but the older ones I worked on had orifice tubes that usually would be the plug point and often it was caused by the dessicant in the drier coming apart necessitating the drier replacement and orifice tube replacement.
When all else fails I'd love to see "Florida man installs window unit in his dually."
You waste a lot of solvent
I got rid of a really nice GMC Sierra that needed a complete AC overhaul, evaporator, compressor and Ac condenser. That would have been over 2k, I sold the truck and the guy who bought it was like how much? I found out you have to remove the complete dash assembly and the bench seat to have good access to the evaporator coil and heater coil. You would think GM could have made it easier.
Cool- an AIR-15.
I see you have a jack receiver on the front of your truck. I have one on both ends as well. Handy!
The assault blow gun 💀💀, love it 😂
It’s a squirter!!! Was that a clog delete?!!
Where did you get that air gun. I want one
Alt title 1: Ray blows his load in the fist 10 mins. Wet. Multiple times.
Alt title 2: Sometimes you just got to clear your own pipes.
I've had issues where oil gets stuck in the evap core causing back pressure and problems like this along with problems in the condenser. I think its due to people adding cans and cans of oil and refrigerant mix and the refrigerant leaking out leaving the oil and then repeating every year
I don't blame u I have 01 Durango with bad heater core and still put it off on the back burner
most AC units make around 40 degree differance between inside and outside 👍👍
1.6 pounds ray lol..not 1.4pounds i hope the owner likes your repair and his mileage will be better 🤣🤣
I know the feeling of not wanting to rip the dash apart. Just had the blend door on my 14 camaro, and by the book the entire dash has to come out. I chose the cheaper easier way to do it. Considering that it's been a known in issue for quite some time and there hasn't been anything done about beefing up the blend door so that the actuator doesn't rip it to shreds, I chose the cheaper method to save my self a ton of money if/when it happens again.
Likely to have a blocked tube orifice valve, or CCOT valve.
The solution is obvious… a few molotov cocktails tossed in the engine bay and buy a 2009 Nissan Titan or an 2007 Avalanche 🤣
Money shot lol
Great video. Is the clogging from the system oil changing states? Bad oil?
It's that dye, that stuff is terrible for the system, it's considered a non condensable on refrigeration systems. Shouldn't charge into the low side, can liquid slug the compressor.
Too bad the blockage was not recovered. Maybe put a rag over the outlet?
Wo man 👨
If there's an office tube, that most Chevy trucks have located where the tubing changes diameter, remove inspect & clean and or replace it.
EVERY TIME YOU DISCHARGE THE SYSTEM
You actually put in too little refrigerant – was supposed to be 1.6lbs not 1.4 – so while .2 probably wont "make" huge difference.. might want to just check that adding that extra .2 helps some o.O
How do you feel about adding an inline AC filter, do you think it would help reduce clogging in the future?
I came here for magic tricks. Subscribed.
Do you have to pay for the cosumables oh my big word like the ac flush and are you supposed to be working on customers cars .
Junk from a compressor that is seeing its last days…………
So Ray, do you start your pee stream by squatting over the bowl and by the end your back is against the bathroom door? Your wife must be sooo proud. Lol
Engine compartment looking clean!! We know about your brake cleaner fetish. Lol
As a fellow duramax classic owner, I’ve had to reach across parts counters and point parts geeks’ heads toward my pickup to ‘s plain it’s an 07 and yes Poindexter, General Motors generated ugly chevys for a short time from 07 until they changed body styles shortly thereafter. I have 250 miles and the ONLy issue I’ve encountered was a faulty glow plug, and low temp reading code which, under $100 later no more codes! The politburo in the Peoples Republic of Oregon has recently mandated zero emissions on vehicles soon. I wonder what they’ve going to say about my 2013 Peterbilt!
Ray do you have two different headlight low beams?
Use break cleaner also to make it nice and shiny
Sir It could be a Waffle bearing or a Canooter valve. You may need a pressure changer.
Try condenser cleaner on your truck
What happened to the intermittent electrical issue on the H2?
Clean or replace the orifice tube. I did it to my dirty max . Great videos Ray.
2000 Durango was worth about 3K and needed an Evap core…..1800 to 2200 to change so I sold it as is!
I have an 07 gmc classic body style as well. I do the same and select 06 but I have found there is a few parts that do not work nor does the 07 new body. seems a few parts where made just for the 07 classic body style.
Two different headlights LOL
lol that moneyshot
Your Condenser is clogged Ray, no the evap. If evap or expansion device (orifice tube) were clogged pressures would be low. Probably the compressor would be short cycling on the low pressure switch. The MCHE Condensers on newer vehicles are bad about clogging up. The passages are literally the size of a sewing needle. Either the compressor is taking a dump or hoses are breaking down. If compressor still produces good head pressure and isn't noisy it's probably the latter. Good luck to you. I know how necessary A/C is. I live in Georgia-just as hot and humid.
is nobody ganna talk about the air gun? where can i get one?
Surprised you didn't mention cleaning your condenser with water to the fins to remove dead bugs and built-up debris.
Orfice tube?
No new o rings????
by the way love the truck
just want to ask you is the pay good down there thank you
Carrying the extra 7lbs per gal of fuel in your transfer tank is costing you fuel mileage also.
I know you use the shop tool. However you should really make sure your changing the oil in the vacuum pump as a good vaccum pump uses the oil to collect all the dirt and moisture.. Secondly use a micron guage. Lastly.. you should ALWAYS use oil on o rings.. as dry rings dont seal as well and could causea bad vacuum.
Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching!
Thats a florida man air gun.
Silly Ray…Vacuum lines are for suckers…Great vid. Always learning great stuff from your plethora of info ! THANKS
Also, if you ever sell that truck let me know. I want that LBZ.
Replace your drier.
Lucky that you have a mechanic in the family!
I'm there with you on pulling the dash. I got mine half out and gave up, taking it to a shop. Shop called me when they were done saying half my interior was missing. Yea, it's in my garage.
Bro do you really have a driver side halogen 9006 and an LED pass side 9006?!?! BRO
