In this video I have a look at a 2004 Hemi Dodge Ram that was dragged in as a no start. Doesn't take long to find the root cause of the problem and the misfiring cylinder and it ends up being a pretty easy fix in the end. -Enjoy!

How the heck did you disable the fuel pump?
I have a very similar vehicle. This video made me smile.
This video just saved my life…. Shop tried to charge me 14,000 for a new engine in my 6.4l… this was the only issue
I have an 07 Grand cherokee with the 5.7 hemi as well. I replaced the cylinder head gasket and valve cover gaskets. Since putting everything back together, it is misfiring with code p0300 and I hear a nice little tick sounds. All spark plugs were properly gapped at .044. What could be the issue?
So what the next step
Just had an intake valve spring break on a '15 GC SRT. Changing the whole set now.
I appreciate the help bro! You have helped me an my grandpa fix a couple issues with a 07 Dodge project truck we are working on.
Lucky for the customer that the repair wasn’t too costly!
Back when the camshafts didn't melt down!
could have tested it with a vacuum gage much faster if the gage would have jumped all over the place it would have told you it was a valve problem
I have a 2010 doing the same but I have 150 to 160 compression in all cylinders no broken spring or bent push rods I don’t know
Hey
How are you?
I just rebuild my engine on my 04 dodge durango
I didn't change anything on valves and springs
Just pistons, pistons rings, main and rod bearings
When I crank it the first time it was running ok
Then I turn it off
Few minutes later I turn it on and begin running like that one on your video
The check engine light come on showing bank 1 sensor to rich I put a new one, I crank it again and keep running really bad keep showing bank 1 sensor
What you think it can be?
And took off the oil cap there is a good bit of Condensation why?
Thanks!
Ok I have a 2004 dodge 1500 5.7, it too runs like crap, sounds similar to back fires but no codes. The cam shaft sensor coded so replaced, replaced the timing chain. Now codes ignition coils a through c. Runs rough, idles rough, and. White smoke out the exhaust. I put this on your channel because I have seen alot of your videos in the help with other cars. You are thorough, and dam good at your job so, anybody have thoughts.
I have a video of it running, though the breather is off you can hear the air in the throttle body. The video is on my channel.
I have a 2004 ram 1500 5.7 exactly with the same symptoms the cranking sound, cannot idle, very rich condition, so, do you think it's related the low cylinder compression with the rich condition???
I have problem with p0052
Just bought me a hemi dodge ram. 2009 and everything is outta warranty. Got me a whole lotta youtube, a haynes manual and just enough knowledge to be dangerous!!
I'm going to have to take a ride up from jersey with my Hemi
So my trucks doing the same thing with the truck lag to start but it stays running after it finally starts can you help me
Great video. Why would one bad cylinder out of 8 make the engine run so bad though?
That idle sounds identical to mine. Target idle is 840 and IF it idle it’s a ruff 400 ish. I have no throttle response until I’m 40% iac. Vacuum is super low on my AEM boost gauge. (-8 to 0) but clears up if u hold over 2000rpm but has a random backfire. This isn’t a factory engine but it is a base 5.7. Guess I need to do some digging.
Eric
The Bible says to let your yes be yes, and you no be no, and that everything else is vanity.
I’ve been learning the meaning of this for years, so I thought I would share it with you. You have an awesome talent and work ethic, and I enjoy your videos immensely. I just hope that you will take this small criticism with a grain at salt, and keep up the excellent wor.
Love your family and your beautiful puppies too.
Sincerely, Gary Drumm
It's a new EGR valve it's aftermarket so it's more than likely junk…… Lmfao 😂. Man Eric you kill me!!!!!
How many hours to diagnose? How many to repair?
Everybody loves a happy ending
Having the same issue on my 05. Has 70k miles. How would I be able to go about determining which valve cover to pull I just know it has a p0300 code
Another job well done, keep up the informative videos, I have a 07 Ram with the 5.7l hemi and reference your videos whenever a problem arises, Awesome job 👍
When told that a politician was a humble man, Churchill replied. "Yes, he has much to be humble about!"
This mechanic has just enough humility to show he's an expert.
Too say we can do it to is a waste of good air. Very few people can remember everything you do, an then make a movie 🎥 of it. I don't know a one. Thank you
I wish your shop was here in Washington State!!
I just watched a video of that exact pickup with a broken #3 piston… It's the K&N filters, they cause hot rodding…. busts stuff…. ha ha
Eric, you do know your craft. Saved customer big time.
Misfire and no idle…. thats how a dodge runs when new on the dealer lot.
Glad I came across your video. My wife's 12 Durango had the exact same problem. 2 hours and a $2.50 part it runs great again. Thank you for your great channel.
This guy should have his own show on Motor Trend Network. He is a great teacher & very good in front of a camera. Dude can fix anything quickly
I’ve been an automotive, heavy equipment, aircraft, electromechanical and electronics technician for the past 40 years and I can’t help but be impressed with your knowledge of vehicle systems and your good process of troubleshooting. Your analytical skills are the best I’ve seen on the internet. Younger mechanics could really learn from watching how you approach problems.
YOU ROTATED IT, DID YOU HAVE AIR COME OUT THE EXHAUST? CUASE I WONDERED ABOUT THE AIR TOOL,, , WHY NOT DO A BASIC COMPRESSION CHECK ON THE CYLINDER. AND I WONDER HOW YOU KEPT THE VALVE UP WHILE USING THAT SPRING TOOL TO REPLACE THAT BROKEN SPRING.IF IT WAS STUCK OPEN,, BOTTOM LINE SOUNDS GOOD, LOL
That 1 Lucky Customer! My mouth is a drooling over some of your tools ,and You're shop. Been working in a sand bed since I was 12. Just turned 57. HAHa ,, Have a Great 2021!
Good afternoon, thank you for the information. Because I have to of them 5.7 thank you for sharing
Wow talk about one lucky customer eh. Awesome video. Thank you for your channel. Its fun to watch a really smart technician. I always learn from watching your videos.
What is the tool used to replace the valve spring without pulling the head off?
Talk about a lucky skunk did the stinckies go away
The Doctor is in the house! That’s some pretty sophistomicated do-wacky stuff for that diagnostics! Mr O! Nice job😎👍
how does one actually find a KNOWLEDGEABLE local mechanic? Somebody who actually diagnoses and doesn't just baptize the car with parts?
i'm afraid to take my hemi in to get it looked at
Iac issue.
Looks like the owner, finished this truck off 12 months after this video. I bet he used all the horses that Hemi has to offer.
So what ended up being the issue?
Holy!!!!
I'm pretty sure this is the same truck that ends up with a broken piston about a year later.
I have a 04 ram 1500 5.7 n i have a check engine light on and the only code is p2323 coil h. I replaced all 8 coils n im doing plugs n wires next week but it idles rough at lights n smells of gas?
