In this video I have a look at a 2010 Chevrolet 1500 that came in with the money light on with EVAP codes and codes for the front 02 sensors. Sounds like an easy one. Let's have a l @ @k. -Enjoy!

I know I'm late to the party but can I ask a question. Why is there tyre rotation? Does it actually increase tyre milage or do you end up having to replace them all at the same time after multiple rotations? So I guess what I'm asking is this worth it? False economy as you pay out x 4 rather than replacing worn tyres as and when needed? I don't see it this side of the pond that's why it confuses/interests me. Not a mechanic. Appreciate any replies.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars J.R. says:

California regulations say you can't change an O2 sensor unless you have a code that says it is bad.
To bad you can't change Politicians that quick if you find they are bad !

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jason Knight says:

So just did the same thing. Purge and seal same way. When I seal it of it runs ruff and stalls. Pressure drops off.

The one thing I can say about Eric is he likes to show you the things that will save you money. The evap for my Silverado is $113 vs $31 for the same without that stupid canister

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Martin Vasquez says:

Do you really have relearn a heat code on a sensor

i can relate to the problem here. i had some chaffage on my wire one time. i went down the chaffinch route.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars J D says:

I watch a video you made a while ago about a purge valve trouble shoot, slick video. I used that video and tested mine using my Verus pro, didn't think I had a problem with valve just wanted to practice but I did find a problem. Now this video making an artificial vacuum leak pumping the breaks. Now I have two methods of testing in my arsenal. Thanks.

As a former GM technician, I must say ANY GM product made after 2007 is ABSOLUTE HOT GARBAGE! My fiancé is lucky I worked on GM because she bought a 2015 Chevy Equinox, now that it’s past 70,000 miles it’s already doing the famous oil consumption they’re known for and I’ve replaced two camshaft actuator solenoids and it has developed the infamous ticking already….I tried to warn her, but at least we have one reliable vehicle my 2012 Fusion with 125,000 miles that I would trust any day over her GM (Giant Mistake) but I guess as long as she got what she wanted, right?

For some reason I found this to be one of your best explanations of o2 sensors and vent valves.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars fowvee says:

You should experiment with some of these things since they're nearly guaranteed to fail in short order. Put a squirt of fluid film into the vent solenoid and see if that reduces/prevents corrosion and failure over time. All in the name of science of course.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars throttle bottle says:

****pack it with the (wrong/junk dielectric) = issue, don't use horrible-fright/local junk place stuff

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MonkeyMonk2000 says:

Indeed doesn't make sense why would the canister's filter be placed all the way up front in the vehicle 🤔

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Willie Gillie says:

Nice job Eric. You didn’t let all the codes send you on a wild goose chase. You focused on the ones that most likely were the cause. Your knowledge of how o2 sensors are supposed to work and how to test them really helped to diagnose that problem. The purge solenoid diag. was spot on. I enjoyed watching this video for sure.

you are ready for stand up comedy…which…leaves more time for hunting..just sayin

Hey Eric! I own 2004 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 4×4 5.3 FFV with 152,000 miles. I haven’t needed to do much over the last four years of ownership, except fuel pump, window motors/regulators, and typical maintenance. Is there repairs I should prepare for in your experience? I’m located in Oregon if that helps.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars mark inkster says:

Dang, I love the vent valve change idea. I never thought of using that style valve, but that's why I watch these videos. You have many real world ideas that make a lot of sense. Good work !!!

Aww thanks for the 'rona' safe hug Eric. Sh*t, we all know the feeling of the infamous malfunctioning window that customers never ever tell us about. I worked with a fella insisted on no one ever touches window switches except him. In my area the typical response from customers regarding windows is "it worked before". Thanks alot for this video, I will be sharing it.

Want to pick my words carefully because this is text, and text sucks.. Wish there was a way to ask simple questions for $, with zero strings attached, zero responsibility on your side. But I've been a fan for years, and I know from WUW you don't like that, at least not with some of the questions you get that can't be answered over the internet. In my shoes, I'm resealing the oil pan in my subie, and I wonder what rtv you'd typically use in that situation. Or maybe if you even use the cork gaskets they have available instead. I think I should call the shop and ask (joking joking joking joking joking)

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason joncas says:

Just to say from experience the tire rotation you showed crap you can not reverse a tire in its break in rotation you will always throw a belt. Front to back not a crisscross pattern 35 years with my vehicles tried the latter always had the shimmy in the steering just after the rotating thought just cheap tires did this with $350 Michelins price for one same result. Now front to back never a problem again.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Zinsmeyer says:

Your right on those O2 sensor connectors being finicky. I disconnected the pre-cat sensor on my little four banger, and cleaned the connector with some MAF cleaner. Thought it was working fine when I plugged it back in until it tossed me a good ol P0133(slow O2 sensor response). Come to find out I must have not gotten all the MAF cleaner out of the little pin holes. Just bad to blow on it harder and longer and the cleaner finally evaporated. ECM did its self-test, and the code went away and they lived happily ever after. 😛 🙂
