For those of us less adept at not slicing our fingers off with the razor blade… leaving the button in the mirror lets you keep your digits safely holding the mirror and out of harms way. 🖖
Ooooh….so I don't have to scrape off the black panel on the inside of the windshield. That's good to know. I'll just scrape off the old glue. Mine's a 2003 Pilot so I think it should work fine.
On line reviews for this product say that this does not hold for more than a week especially in our Australian sun. How long did it last for you? My mirror fell off today and I am looking for a good adhesive.

My mirror fell off 2 days ago. ( Ford 2010 F150.) The metal part is still attached to wind shied as is the metal clip…..YEP that clip should be on the mirror but it is not. No way I can slide this onto both pieces. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help.

My mom had an early 70s something Chevy Vega and somehow that woman tore the rearview mirror off at least three times. I was everyone's go to fo mirror reattachment back in the day. 🤣
I've done dozens of these and used the same brand kit but there were two different types of kits and the one that I used was the same brand as yours but the glue dispenser was a little different, it was clearer than the one you used, anyway it held up for 12 hours and fell off. This was the first car that I've done that had that black surface on the windshield and the factory glue was some type of epoxy and I'm thinking maybe i need to use that because of the mounting surface has that black grid painted onto the windshield. I've never had problems before but this was the first one that I've done with the black surface. Maybe I need to go get the kit that you used. Does that kit say anything about mating surfaces? It’s really common for this glue to get cooked in Arizona. I had to fix a friends car because I adjusted the mirror and the mound snapped right off 😂😂😂

After the second time my mirror fell off, I realized the tab wasn't flat. I touched it to a flat file then glued it on the last time.

A little tip to get the goo off easier. Get some goo gone and it will come off a lot easier. Clean the area good with an alcohol wipe before remounting the mirror

If you watch closely when attaching the bracket to the glass after properly applying primer and adhesive you will see a small puff of smoke. You'd of had to have done hundreds of them to notice but it's there every time.
Funny comment about there being no string on the applicator. That glue is not designed to attach to the "FRIT" black painted surface. That mirror will fall off again in a short time. The adhesive is designed for a glass to metal bond. That brackets need to put on with a Urethane type bond or a factory style adhesive patch.
Most likely that glass has been changed and the aftermarket manufacturer did not use the correct adhesive, we don't see mirror falling off like we used to. We used to charge people $10-$20 to adhere the mirror. kit went into the LUNCH fund.

I'm sure glad Eric that Mrs O has nothing to worry about if she pops out to the shop with you talking like that, be a worry if the hands was doing something like rubbing that mirror down and she hears you screaming ' OH BABY!' LIFE TO THE FULL WITH A RAZOR BLADE. Great to see some basic videos for the anybody can do jobs on their vehicles.
Mine fell off and as I didn’t have time right away , it was awhile before I got to it. Turns out without a rear view mirror you can’t see the faces on the road rage morons behind you, man what a relief my blood pressure is a lot lower now.

I tried 4 types of mirror repair kits- the next day- the mirror was on the seat- I followed directions – none worked. I used supper glue from the dollar store . It has been 1 1/2 years – still there
Best story I have of this product was guy comes into the advance I worked at and bought this and a gallon of coolant, applies to mirror meanwhile car is leaking water everywhere. Waits the 1 minute and engine shuts off, coolant leak be damned he’s fixing that mirror.
For the last 12 years I've used those kits on my '88 Mustang. Every year the first day temps hit 90 degrees and it will fall off. Tried different brands, clean glass with brake clean, acetone etc. Tried supeglue. Again exactly one year later falls off.
Last time roughened up glass with emery cloth (lightly). Now has been over 2 years.
Last time it fell off it hit he shifter and busted the glass in the mirror 🙁
I worked at my family's NAPA store for better than 10 years and I probably sold hundreds of those mirror adhesive kits. Till this day, I've never had to use one.
Watching paint dry has been considered art for years. Your detailed step by step process of glue drying is working art and thanks to YouTube we all get to see it in action. Oh and get a laugh.
