In this video I look at a Jeep Liberty that was dragged in with a no crank condition. It came from a local shop and they had made the call on the ignition switch. Let's have a quick look before slamming any parts on it. -Enjoy!

Hello everyone. I need your help very badly.. my Liberty 2012 stoped while driving and it wonโt startโฆ changed battery, alternator, starterโฆ nothing. The code was B212C and mechanic said need to change TIPM fuse box. Change it and still nothing. We have no idea what is the problem. It make some cranking noise in the fuse box when starting it but not doing anything else after. Please any suggestions???? Thank you. ๐๐
Nice job Eric.!!!!
This is what I did to get My 02 to start jumping the relay.
You have to back feed the PCM with 12vdc at the relay socket with the key in the run position ,
The PCM needs to see a Start signal from the ignition switch.
Jump the relay socket to get the starter motor turning and at the same time I use a power probe to send power back down the relay coil terminal that comes from the Ignition Switch, Starts every time..

My jeep didn't want to turn back on and this video helped us find out it had the same problem thank you sir

Awesome video…just diagnosed exactly the same issue. Thanks ๐
Hey Eric I have the same issue but Iโm not sure what the part is called. Do you by chance know or a part number?
Thanks
great video. thanks you. what was the part number?
Handy video as my KJ has just done the same thing. Wife got into trouble driving home. I jumped in to turn key & dashboard lights start flashing & blinking & no start. So, looks like new part needed. Though not stripped out yet.
What is the exact name of the part u replaced?
So โฆ what was the faulty part ?
Need to Know for someone who has a non starting jeeep liberty 2010 for 2 montes
Hey Eric 2012 lefty is just clicking, I put a new battery in it, a shop put a new fuel pump in it, is a bad starter??
Hey Eric great video, it's nice to have a good helper. I have a friends 2012 jeep liberty that has had a mechanic shop put 3 fuel pumps in, they killed her battery left her with a 500 dollar bill and the car just clicks when you try to start. I just replaced the battery with a new one. Everything turns on ok. So do u think it's the starter. Do I do a by pass from the start in the fuse box? Please let me know thx
Had this exact problem in my 2003 Jeep Liberty – I was able to get it home by bypassing the starter relay but only right after the key was in run position. The part was about $60 and every parts store had it in stock. Thanks this saved me.
No offense to you, but this was the most infuriating video to watch in a while. 36 minutes long and uncut ( for the most part ) and I honestly don't think you stopped talking the entire time. Some of it not even relevant. It's like you couldn't stand no sound, so you talked to yourself the entire time, but recorded it and posted it on YouTube. This could've been 10 minutes long; 15 tops.
I was able to jump the starter relay and make mine turn over, but would not run so I knew it was not the starter
Mister O … Have you ever popped an air bag ?
that was great i think this is my problem…very informative video
Now that we got it hot wired … Let's go to Walt Disney world and Rob it with the DeWalt .
I'd like to see you do a video on the effect of aftermarket parts for Jeep/Dodge, when it comes time for the computer to acknowledge the new part. The 08 Liberty comes to mind. Standard Products makes the cheap EGR but now I'm wondering is the Mopar EGR the answer or is a dealer flashing…either way I know you like to talk OEM parts and was wondering what your thoughts were
Yesterday this came up on my feed – watched with interest, never encountered this problem before – had Jeeps for 30 years. This morning my Liberty (Cherokee here in UK) would not start, or crank – opened it up to find it was exactly the same piece broken as this video – seriously spooked !
๐
Thanks! Came in clutch.
I showed my husband this video and I'm glad i did…because my car is now working. Thanks for taking the time to post for those willing to learn… Greatly appreciated!!!!
Your video was on point! I followed your instructions to the T and I was surprised to see the piece of metal drop to the floor just like in your video. That was nice because I knew right away what the problem was. Thank you, you saved me a bunch of money. The part cost me a hundred dollars and about an hours time. If anyone has this problem, first make sure your battery is good, test your starter and then this video.
My 2005 Liberty Renegade don`t start too, Is not the battery or the starter. I don`t know if is for the same reason but, If I don`t have the tools and skill to do that, what is the best place to go and check and fix something like that?. Thanks for the info.
THANK YOU!! I have the same vehicle (just purchased it), with the exact same problem. I was prepared to go ahead and try to change the neutral safety switch which is up inside the transmission and a horrible job. But thanks to your video I was able to diagnose the problem (by finding no power to the blue and pink wire). My problem is actually the cylinder not turning all the way to start but it makes no difference, without your video I would have been completely lost. I can now drive the vehicle, starting it with a screwdriver, until I get a new key and lock cylinder set. So thank you so much your videos are not only informative, they are highly entertaining as well. As soon as I get a few extra bucks I will definitely order a hat. So again thank you.
What was the name of the part you had to replace
such a mess, im going through it now,2003 liberty, just take it slow. dont use a sledge!!! i tried that avenue LOL
So what exactly was the part called you replaced? Thanks fir the video!
Excellent video! I feared I had the same issue and bought the part needed and some safety torx bits, and about a half hour later, she runs again. I knew exactly what I needed to do from watching your video. Same occurred with me, as soon as I popped off the ignition switch, a piece of metal had fallen to the floor off the end of the actuator pin. Thanks a million!
Personally, you can erase many codes by just disconnecting the Neg battery post. This NOT recommended by me as some codes are very important. As an example.
I had a Thermostat problem. All I had to do was shut the vehicle down and the problem was solved! BUT my MSG board was showing all kinds kinds of problems. I turned off the vehicle and everything was good. I did replace the Thermostat later (once I got it).
Now I have a No Crank/No Start issue. I get power to lights/flashers. I am going to be ripped off! I know it. IT is going to be something STUPID! Like a Ground!
Erick knows where his tools are unlike most of us and me,,Donโt try to tell your wife to find something in the garage youโll lose her for a month๐๐๐
Please help, have a 2012 jeep liberty sport. My car won't start. Computer said electronic throttle control, replaced it still nothing. Now computer mentions OEM engine module, and P0513 invalid skim key. Car ran fine on my way to work that day, wouldn't start. Any suggestions?
What was the part called?
awesome I own my shop 21 years been in for over all 42 love it
I opened the ignition system according your procedure. I did not find any problem and then put it back. It worked great somehow. I did not find any broken part. I wonder why it did not start but it starts now so I guess its all good now.
