In this video I have a loot at a Dodge Nitro 4.0 that came in from another shop and they told the customer that the vehicle had a broken wire in the harness that runs the EGR. Although it did have a high voltage code stored in it I show how a few simple checks quickly proves out the wire and determines that it is just a bad EGR valve. -Enjoy!

You make look so easy
I am convinced that professional mechanics are brain surgeons for cars. And by the way, I could not do it. 😀
WHERE did you unplug the connector from ??? at the beginning of the video you should POINT this is your EGR Value… Some of us have been doing Autobody and sniffing Gun Wash for 40 years…
Honestly I’ve tested the same 5 wire egr on my dodge nitro. I’m having the same code, 3 egrs later and a new pcm still have the code.
Blue/velvet I’m getting full 12v
Awesome post.
You are a good mechanic…. good diagnosis skills.
Youve got a good logical thought train.
I sure wish more mechanics where like you. You're smart and technical. Awesome.
What is the probability that a PO300 code is a result of a failed or failing EGR Valve?
So the one time their parts cannon would have worked, they miscalculated and shipped it to you anyway.
Hello
I have a question
Why the duty cycle on the multimeter was display on off time instead of on time
Where do you get your wiring diagrams from?
Question. Im thinking to buy a scan tool. What can you suggest me. Im considering bosch or autel.
thanks
EGR valves, I hate those on some cars, mostly PSA group cars with the HDI engine, a real pain to get those out
It's easy to learn from your videos
What scan tool are you using?
Makes me really happy to see that you're steadily making your way up to a half million subscribers. When I first started watching, you were at about 180k and I couldn't understand why that number wasnt higher. I think a lot of it may be because people see that the video is 20-30 minutes long and they aren't willing to commit that much time. And I'm not saying you should be making shorter videos either, a 30 minute SMA video goes by in the blink of an eye because of how entertaining and informative they are. Just saying it makes sense that your viewer base grows more slowly than certain other hack mechanics who put out 5 minute videos that are pretty much worthless. But I think once somebody watches a whole video they cant help but get hooked on the channel.
Funny story, theres another shop called South Main Auto in the town where I went to college. They're absolutely terrible and they screwed me over more than once, so for the longest time I never even bothered watching an SMA video on the off chance that it was the same shop
Clear as mud.Are you trying to confuse me or what!!! Show me like you would a child.
Awesome video as always 👍
Dodge Nitro AKA Jeep Liberty
BONUS FOOTAGE!!!!
PHAD?!! LoL 😂
Who do you send the bill to?Was the 'other shop' your brother?
Hey. Need some help
Got more crankcase pressure after replacing sparkplug wires and pcv and valuecover gaskets and spark plug gaskets in a 2002 Honda accord 2.4 4 cylinder.
Any ideas why this might be happening had almost none before switch pcv before was clogged. Getting better mpg now then before which is cool but more pressure in crankcase should I be worried
quality….everydays a good day when you get a new SMA video to watch
Maybe they couldent find sensor ground while testing it unpluged, so they thinked its wireing problem…
Parts cannon would have fixed this junk nitro
egr delete
big thmubs up! Erci OH strikes again!
Maybe someone can help me I have an 06 Chevy colorado I replaced water pump, themostat, and fan clutch because it was running hot and now running hotter
Eric, “if you can do it, just give it to Jason to do it”. Can Jason’s be ordered in bulk?
I think the other shop saw where that little guy is located and shifted the job to you Eric! That looks like a bear to get to. Great troubleshooting, as usual.
Even non-eventful videos are fun to watch! Another great job Eric!
Good video Eric O.
yea dealers…they couldn't find the problem on a 2016 chevy Malibu…(it needed a battery) had it towed back to them and viola they replaced it car works great….but because of the battery being low it they 3 codes…but now they are gone
Main is spelt wrong at the bottom of the screen 😄😄🤭
Did Bosch send you the scanner. Those are expensive
I'm really happy you have some help so you can focus on diagnosis, teaching and the business of running a very successful shop.
Just cut the firewall out with a sawzall.
Remove EGR, slide new vehicle underneath. Fixed! 😁
Great stuff as always, brother! 👍👍
Next time, just misspell the entire watermark, and just see what the comments section does … 🤣😜
The sticker on the box was made in the United States, the egr valve itself was made in Mexico.
I hope you didn't loot it too bad
Great Tutorial Video. …Paul (SD) can refer it for his students in Rosedale TC! Eric – You are definitely better educator in some cases.
What! Only one thing wrong on a Nitro?
They said broken wire and that shop didnt even check it's a bad egr valve shaking head
Great Video Eric O
As always, positive diagnosis!
wish you would add the pin test kit to your amazon store. im an industrial electrician and that would be handy af
I only have my EGR active a few hours per year and that is the inspection day. My car is a diesel, I know it's slightly different on diesel than gasoline cars, on a gasoline car I wouldn't disable it.
South "Mian" Auto ? the screen logo has a mistake.
