In this video I have a look at a Chevy 2500HD with a Duramax that the customer complaint was the AC stopped working. He told me it had no power going to the AC compressor. Well, he was right,m but we found out why. -Enjoy!

NICE DIAGNOSIS WITH THE PROBE.What kind of scantool are You using?
Your troubleshooting skills always amaze me. My friends like to throw parts at everything before knowing the real cause. Thanks Mr. O!
this dang vid has some major artifacting going on
I love that the most of your work are on the type of truck I brought. Will savee a ton of time and money when my used truck warranty expires. That said, I know the hunt for broken wires all too well. Working on hostler trucks and now semi's for 4 years you run into way too much wiring issuea. Their either lighting, transmission or def system related. Its all the same and sucks when you have no schematics to relay to.
Scannerdanner is the Bob Ross of the automotive electrical world. You are Van Gogh. When you're done with the wire, go cut your ear off.
GOOD AND LUCKY AND COOL NOW
Good diagnosis, my son has a 2002 LB7 Duramax with same issue, no power to the compressor. I will be checking those connections and relays with a test light and multimeter. The only thing I don't have is the scanner and powered tester to check for codes. But thanks for the good video and information from Texas.
your camera sucks today.
Love your episodes and the fact that you lose your tools often, just like I do! Jack from Sherwood Park, Alberta…
Great job on that wire rub for the AC compressor. I really enjoy your sequence of work procedures. Keep up the GOOD WORK !
I personally don't see a faster method than the one used. A wiring diagram was critical to a quick fix finding power continuous dropping to ground on start. Since I never have wiring diagrams it takes me a little longer because even though I would have first checked this ac relay it would have taken me 5 more minutes with a volt ohm meter trouble light and thinking of all the stuff to turn the clutch on. Wouldn't have worried about compressor but if clutch is on it better work. Don't have an altel or any of that fancy stuff except I do have an oscilloscope to check output of the ecm. Since this one was relatively easy finding why no power to clutch would have been quick.
Good job
You almost make me want to drive 1000 miles if I have any car problems. Great work 👏
There isn't anyone that can run down an electrical issue so methodically and do it quicker than you. You use no luck or guess work at all. I have been working on cars and trucks for more than half a century and I still learn alot from you! Thanks for the education!
Great video…im having the same problem with my 2000 Chevrolet express van. I did see that my AC relay had a wire running from it. I'm guessing that it was used to get 12v to the ac compressor.
Nice job and video
This video is from a year ago, but just let me add, ..i wish I had. Mechanic I could trust like SWA.
Gm company is the only company that keeps repair shops open
Finding a bunk wire NEVER happens that fast. Never. This is the video I needed for my trailblazer that was acting funny and I became a parts cannon 😂. Thanks Mr O
Thank you.
Give me a job where do I apply?
Loom it, tape it, ship it, and pray he lives down south. GM cable management? WTF!
I have a MB Sprinter van 2013 Diesel v-6 2500 I was told the buster on the turbo was bad
Replace hole turbo same thing now
If I turn off motor and start up again all ok for a time
When this problem happens motor runs at half power
Can you please give me your answer to this problem thank you
Man, you are an absolutely AMAZING mechanic!!!!!! Love these vids!! Your thorough knowledge of cars and the electrical components of cars is top notch!
You are the Best. 2003 Pontiac grand Am. Shakes when in gear and when you turn on AC
Love your , how should I say this, your tutorials. I also like your saying- " If I can do it, you can do it"…. For me, That might have been true 40 years ago. Just can't move and bend like I did in the old days….. The last work I did on a vehicle was my wife's 2000 blazer. Replaced the radiator and the fuel filter. The radiator was easy, but the fuel filter got me. I swear there was enough room between the torsion bar and frame, and the should have been, but my fingers could no longer make the bends. The torsion bar needed to be further in…. Really pissed me off.. Max frustration.. On a second note, you're spoiled! If I asked my wife what's for lunch, her response would be, " So what are going to get or what are you making"….. You are truly a gifted young man.
Good teaching south main auto 🚗 thank you God bless👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👋
thats the way I would have done it
I have about the same problem with my 2016 2500HD diesel. The AC just quit the compressor seems ok the clutch is spinning but both lines are hot . I checked the freon ok changed the relay fuses are good…..guess it's time to throw money at it at the dealer. Going in for an oil change.
Good job👏👍👌
“I’m the Bob Ross if auto repair “. Classic.
Do you ever just take the car, soak it in odorless mineral spirits and just BEAT THE DEVIL OUT OF IT!!!!
Bill Alexander was the original "Happy little trees" guy and taught Ross all he knows
Great and very informational video but where do you get your electrical wire diagrams from?
How would i have fixed it? Just like my Dad did on his Ford Torino in the 70s when I was 10. Get 2 clothes pins take them apart so you have 3 wood wedges, get a hammer and pound them in the compressor so it has 100% duty cycle.
The Bob Ross of auto repair. That's a classic, and I think you would look good in one of those clown frizzy wigs.
Those that gave the thumbs down, are never lucky, and not that good.
I have a 2013 Chevy Spark a/c giving me fits all works driving 60mph but at idle won’t cool at all all fans work new compressor new expansion valve right amount of refrigerant. HELP
A cable tracker will help you quickly find an open circuit.
Nice find!
I'm stoked you have embraced my complement. You are indeed the Bob Ross of auto repair. I must not have been the only one to make the comparison.
Double Like.
Must have borrowed that camera from ssspec…sp…ecttt….Spectrum cabbbb…..llllle … (Upstate NY joke)
Great diagnosis and repair as always, Eric!
All that wiring flopping around, and the exposed wire in plain view, does not seem like good engineering.
Yes, very suckee pixellation, all in all though, good job, Eric.
Sir, it’s good to know this for future reference, I just changed d thermostat on my truck I own a 2008 GMC Sierra 4/4,, easy fix had d ac working again…ty ur videos do help.
You got lucky with that one. Our buddy down south would have replaced the A/C compressor for sure.
Triggered…….
From the glitches….
