In this video I have a look at a Nissan Sentra that came in with some EGR trouble. It had a P0400 causing the engine light to come on. Pretty simple system so let's have a look to see if we can fix it. -Enjoy!

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars NIKOS GIAGKOULAS says:

My friend I followed your instructions and took apart the whole EGR system from the manifold to the exhaust and cleaned it . I also took apart the whole valve and it seemed to be stuck like yours. I don't know if it was truly stuck, since I have no engine light on or code reader to check, but the EGR tube was always cold. Thank you for the excellent instructions

This channel shoud be mandatory watching for all Automotive Engineers who build these things. The Executives too.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ron N says:

    EGRs get hot.
I would have lubricated it with a few drops of synthetic motor oil, which is much more heat resistant.

Impressive knowledge, as always. Scottie would probably tell you you're stupid for spending that much time trying to serve the customer, but who the thunder would even want Scottie to wash their windshield? 🤣

From what I’ve watched on you tube cats can’t be cleaned to work again, nothing like a little panther piss in your coffee cup to spice it up

I have a PAC brake like that. Works great on the bench, works fine installed loosely, butterfly is free. Tighten everything down – no worky.

I've had pretty good, lasting results, using graphite-type heat proof dry type lubes. I know KANO, maker of Kroil, makes a "Pyrolube" that is for high heat
    …just something to think about…..

I have the same exact vehicle and I was wondering is there anyway to just temporarily bypassed that EGR valve like maybe plugging up the two rubber hoses in the back just to see if the car runs correctly like that ? because my car won’t stay on while idling?

I have a 1997 Honda Passport 3.2 engine with EGR valve problem -code for "insufficient EGR flow" crops up. I have checked the EGR pipes for blockage – it is very clean. I checked the EGR valve and it is clean. I then checked air intake manifold and throttle body – they were a little bit dirty-cleaned anyway. The code keeps appearing every other day or so or sometimes doesn't show up for several weeks. I even replaced EGR valve. What sensor tells computer the insufficient flow condition? I don't see any other sensors in EGR system. Kinda driving me crazy-any help out there? Car only has 77,000 miles on it. Thanks!

I had an 01 Sentra 1.8 from new until three years ago. The 2nd owner is an associate and he's still driving it. On its original engine, mid 200,000 miles. Not the fanciest car but a very good car. Responsive engine, plenty powerful for the car.

Or an oil drain pan, everything falls into that. Bolts, nuts, sockets and wrenches are oil seeking.

I have a DIYer's OBD-II tool, a $99 Blue Driver. It's pretty cool for a big time amateur, but I'm thinking about going deeper. Is there a bi-directional scan tool that I might be able to find for under a zillion dollars? Used or new? I'm just starting to dig into stuff a bit deeper, but I'm totally fascinated from watching SMA and Scanner Danner. Dyin to learn this stuff. Thanks!

Lesser men would swap the EGR and look no further. Did the lean situation mask the bad cat, by sending less NOX gases downstream?

I’m telling you the worst EGR Replacement I ever did was on a 2011 Audi a1 1.6 tdi… absolute nightmare but it’s so common I’ve don’t multiple at this Point. Atleast the common injector failure problem is an easy job even if the injectors are £275 each lol don’t buy an Audi with a 1.6 tdi engine!

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kenneth says:

That's awesome that Eric O. fixed the original EGR valve to save the woman some money. She's gonna need it when she sees that estimate for an OEM unit!! OUCH!!!! And yes it was WIlson from Tool Time!

Just do what the PRs do where I live, remove the converter and I shall one of those coffee can mufflers that make that buzzing sound, I guess they think it makes the car fast the louder it is, all the little Hondas nissans and Toyotas, you know the ones with mismatched paint some primer a gallon of bondo, plastic pieces falling off and some secured with duct tape, and maybe a plastic bag covering where a glass window once was.
